The Missouri FFA State Convention was held April 20-21 at the University of MissouriColumbia. In order to attend the State FFA Convention, students must qualify for State by: qualifying on a Contest Team, qualifying with a Area winning Proficiency Award, being named the last year’s MAbA, being awarded the State FFA Degree, or being selected to the State FFA Choir.

Students grew plants throughout the year to sell at the annual plant sale. This event brings in funding to support the chapter.
The Top 8 most active students from this past year attended a Points Trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 25th and 26th, 2023. The group was able to tour Quapaw Native American Reservation Beef Farm & Processing Facility, Coblentz Dairy, Oklahoma Aquarium, as well as attend an AA Minor League Baseball game between the Tulsa Drillers and Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

6 Cass Career Center FFA members attended State FFA Leadership Camp July 3-7th at Lake of the Ozarks State Park. During the week, FFA members attended leadership workshops, heard from guest speakers, enjoyed waterfront time, met FFA members from across Missouri and participated in many sporting activities.
Preston Baker and Ryley Wood were selected to attend the Missouri HYPE Academy for the top 30 junior FFA members. While at the HYPE (Helping Youth Prepare for Excellence) Academy, Preston and Ryley researched current agriculture policy over the Farm Bill, Crop Insurance, Foreign Ownership of Farmland, Renewable Fuels, and Waters of the United States. At the end of the Academy, students had to testify to a committee of Missouri Senators and House members giving their thoughts of the issues. In addition to testifying and networking with Missouri lawmakers, Preston and Ryley heard from many speakers within the agriculture industry about advocating for agriculture at the national, state, and local level.

Each Cass Career Center Agriculture student has a Supervised Ag Experience (SAE) project where they raise animals, crops, vegetables, work at a job, or volunteer to gain knowledge and skills in the agriculture industry.
The Cass Career Center FFA Chapter welcomed new members with an ice cream social. Advisors and current FFA members were on hand to answer questions about programs and share information about chapter activities

FFA members participated in a SAE Fair, Area Officer Led Workshops, heard from the National FFA President, and met FFA members from other area chapters. The Cass Career FFA Officer Team competed in the Rituals CDE placing first, and Kristin Baumgardner was able to showcase her SAE project.
The first FFA meeting for the school year was held Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at the Cass Career Center. Students had a general meeting and then broke into committees for committee meetings. Students decided FFA field trips, fundraisers, activities, community service projects, and more.
The October Hayride and Bonfire was cancelled due to inclement weather. After several attempts to reschedule, the activity was moved to Cass Career Center during the November FFA meeting

LOG CABIN FESTIVAL October 7, 2023
Members brought in their animals for local families to meet. Critters included horses, cows, chickens, and goats.
STUDENTS PREPARED SIDE DISHES THROUGH THE WEEK PRIOR TO THE EVENT.
VOLUNTEERS HELPED WITH SETUP, FISH FRYING, AND CLEANUP THE DAY OF THE EVENT. DOCUMENTARIES FOLLOWING THE HISTORY OF FFA WERE PRODUCED, AND DEBUTED AT THE CELEBRATION.
13 Cass Career Center FFA members attended the 96th National FFA Convention November 1st – 4th, 2023. Case Melzer competed in the National Dairy Handler’s Contest. George Frees was awarded the American Star in Agriscience. George Frees, Laine Schmalzried, and Ella Shelton received the American FFA Degree. Other students attending from the Cass Career Center included: Preston Baker, Kristin Baumgardner, Emmitt Enderle, Journey Fawcett, Dayton Hoffman, Addi Shepherd, Mary Starforth, Ethan Stone, Lezlie Wade, and Ryley Wood.
November 9 2023 – Area FFA Fall Speech Contest
4 Cass Career Center FFA members competed November 9th at the Area Fall Public Speaking Contest in Osceola.

On Thursday, November 9th upperclassmen toured the Louisburg Cider Mill, and Hillsdale Lake- Army Corp of Engineers. On Friday, November 10th, upperclassmen toured the Louisburg Cider Mill, and MO-KAN Livestock Auction.
On Tuesday, November 14th, freshmen took 6 farm & agribusiness tours around Cass County. These tours included: Kurzweil Meat Processing, NECO Seeds, Horse Trainer, Llama Farm, Wray Cabinets, and HBR&P Power Sports.
The November FFA meeting included a meeting and bonfire held at Cass Career Center on November 14th, 2023. The bonfire had been rescheduled from October due to severe weather. Hot dogs, s’mores and line dancing were included!
The December FFA activity included Ice Skating at Crown Center on Friday, December 8, 2023.
THE EVENT WAS HELD AT STATE FAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE
1ST YEAR FFA MEMBERS (GREENHANDS) HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE GREENHAND MOTIVATIONAL CONFERENCE. THIS EVENT IS ATTENDED BY OVER 300 FIRST YEAR FFA MEMBERS FROM OUR AREA. GREENHANDS GOT TO SHOW OFF THEIR OFFICIAL DRESS FOR THE FIRST TIME!

January FFA Meeting
The January FFA meeting was held January 18, 2024 and included a business meeting followed by line dancing lessons taught by Mr. and Mrs. Snyder.
The February FFA meeting was held February 13, 2024 and included a 30 minute meeting followed by Ag Olympic games.

Cass Career Center FFA members visited the Harrisonville Early Childhood Center to teach preschool and kindergarten students about agriculture. FFA members brought various farm animals for students to pet, a tractor to learn about farm machinery, an activity to plant seeds, safety wear demonstrations, a BINGO game about where products come from, and a simulated milking activity. STATS:
The team has had five competitions in the Area FFA Trap League in Adrian. Toby Johnson was 1st high individual in the Area League. The Trap Team placed 4th out of 16 schools in the Area FFA Trap League
Members attended the Missouri Cattlemen’s Fantasy Feedout Challenge on Tuesday, February 13th at the University of Missouri’s campus farm. They picked through hundereds of steers to determine their top 10 that they think will develope the best. Results will come when the steers go to slaughter and are placed.
Our FFA Chapter and members donated 5 country cured hams to the Shepard’s Staff Food Pantry from students projects this past summer
Our FFA Chapter donated 100 pounds of fruit to the Harrisonville Bright Futures Program
Ray-Pec and Lee’s Summit members helped pack 170 boxes of food at Station42 for the Bright Futures Program on December 20.
Dayton Hoffman picked up and delivered clementine oranges to the Bright Futures Food Assistance Program.
Congratulations to our FFA Chapter who was recognized as the Bright Futures Student Ambassadors for the Month of February 2024 for our volunteer work and donations to Bright Futures.
Missouri FFA will be packing 100,000 meals for the schools backpack programs at the State Fair over the summer.
