THE NATIONAL CHAROLAIS SALE...

Those few words set the tone for a standard of quality. This is “The Event” in the United States that showcases the highest quality genetics in the world.

As this is the 25th National Sale that I have been fortunate to manage, I could not be prouder of the set that we have assembled. Every year we seek out, ask for, push breeders, and yes even beg for genetics that will make an impact on the breed. We want each lot to be the most thought-provoking work of art that a Charolais breeder can produce. This mindset has spurred current breeders to add high-caliber genetics to their herd and outside-the-breed operations to start in the Charolais business.

Not every nominated consignment makes it into the National Sale lineup. The sale management team, AICA staff and the AICA National Sale committee screen, discuss and scrutinize every lot before it gets the nod. The last few National Sales have rivaled any sale of any breed in the country. Last year’s National Sale was the talk of the National Western Stock Show and set the tone for a great spring and fall sale season.

While the 43rd National Sale was a record-setting event, we feel that as you preview the 44th National Sale offering you will see that we have raised the bar once again. Thank you for considering these consignments and thank you to the breeders that opened their herds for the selection of these outstanding cattle. Also, I would like to extend a big thank you to our sale consultant, Colt Keffer, who has been instrumental in securing many of these lots, as well as to AICA’s Clint Rusk and David Hobbs.

We look forward to seeing you in Denver, hosting you online or talking to you before the sale about these breeding-leading genetics. Respectfully, Greg Hubert

DEAR AICA MEMBERS and CHAROLAIS ENTHUSIASTS:

Welcome to the 2023 National Western Stock Show and the Charolais events leading up to the 44th National Charolais Sale. Now in its 116th year, the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) has a rich history of bringing together some of the finest people and the most outstanding animals from across North America. This year’s Charolais offering is loaded with quality and opportunity. The individual animals are outstanding from both a phenotypic standpoint and their genomic-enhanced EPDs are the best estimate of each animal’s genetic value as a parent combining all available sources of information. This year’s National Charolais Sale features several opportunities for buyers to purchase “pick-of-the-herd” from some of the most iconic herds in the Charolais breed. The National Western features some of the most competitive cattle shows in the world that take place “on the Hill” where purebred breeders and junior exhibitors compete for banners and buckles. This year, the Stockyards Event Center will provide a beautiful venue for the 44th National Charolais Sale. This exciting event sets the pace for the beginning of a new sale season. For the past 115 years, ranchers from across the country and the world have descended on Denver, Colorado in early January looking for a new herd bull or an outstanding female to add to their herd. I hope you, too, will come to Denver and find the Charolais bull or female of your dreams.

Famous for its “Yards” area where cattle producers from around the world gather once a year to evaluate the latest prospects in “Herd Bull Alley”, the National Western also features pens and carloads of outstanding bulls and heifers from across the U.S. and Canada. The National Western provides an opportunity for families to gather once a year and exhibit the best animals they have raised during the past two years. The stock show allows cattle producers an opportunity to compare their best animals with outstanding animals produced by other breeders from around the world. As a Charolais enthusiast, I encourage you to visit the AICA Hospitality Tent in Herd Bull Alley to reunite with old friends and potentially meet some new friends. I look forward to seeing you in Denver!

Regards, Clint Rusk, AICA EVP

Lindskov’s LT Ranch Female Herd CHOICE OF THE

The goal of the National Sale is to continually raise the bar. My thought after this event, is how can we raise it any higher going forward. This lot could be the most exciting and coveted to ever be offered in the Charolais breed. The winning bidder will have the opportunity to make a selection that could change their program, and the industry for generations to come.

As the Lindskov-Thiel partnership transitioned into what is now known as the Lindskov’s LT Ranch, Bryce and Todd knew they wanted to do something in this year’s National Sale that would make waves. So, with that in mind Greg and I take a trip to Isabel to sit down with the brothers and decide the best path forward. After a day and a half of seeing great cow after great cow we suggested just selling the pick of the entire herd, how could we be expected to pick just one. Bryce liked the idea. Todd? Not so much. But after we drove more, we all came to the realization that something of this magnitude could absolutely reshape a breeding program and someday impact the breed.

The Lindskov Family reigns supreme in the Charolais world. Year after year they dominate the top spot among global Charolais breeders when it comes to sale average and high sellers. Over the last five years their sale has averaged $10,854, $10,231, $10,647, $10,000 & $11,279 respectively. This is all while the number of bulls sold is going up. The list of high sellers and breed changers is simply staggering. Most recently they produced LT Governor that sold for $220,000, the highest selling Charolais bull ever, and LT Justified that sold for $130,000. Past years have seen LT Ledger, LT Patriot, LT Affinity, LT Authority, and LT Badge all sell for over $100,000. Their sale is without a doubt the premier Charolais event of the year, breeders from all around the world come to see what is widely thought to be the best herd of cows and most powerful bulls on the globe. The buyer will get to choose from over 900 spring and fall calving cows, 220 spring open heifers and 50 fall bred heifers. The bulk of this selection comes from the original Lindskov herd of Bryce and Todd’s. There has never been a selection made from this herd since its inception. That is a selling point in itself as this is the herd that produced the afore mentioned LT Governor and LT Justified, the two high selling bulls from the 2022 bull sale. The Lindskov Family would like the selection to be made by May 1st if possible. You as the buyer most likely will not want to wait that long either. The faster you make your selection, the faster you start blazing a new trail in the breed.

Eaton Charolais Cow Herd

The Eaton herd is backed by generations of selection focused on maternal strength, carcass merit, and longevity. Very few operations take cattle from birth to the rail and document the whole process like the Eaton’s. Lee Eaton once said, “No animal is better than the pedigree and records that back it up.” While some herds specialize in one or a few areas, the Eaton family tries to specialize in gathering as much data as possible and takes it all into account.

Consistently ranked near the top 10 on Beef Magazines Top 100 Seedstock Producers, the Eaton program produces quality in volume. Around 2,500 females will be available to make your selection from. Of that 2,500, over 500 of them will be Dams of Distinction. Keep in mind this is not an easy selection. The Eaton operation is vast in size, and cows cover a lot of ground. However, you will be blessed with some of the best views and most interesting company in North America.

The selection needs to be made around May 1st. We recommend a late spring visit as the cows and calves will be coming into their own and grass will be green. If you are the winning bidder, make sure to study up on the herd before you go. As a reminder you will be picking a pair. We think you will find many females that will work for you.

King Ranch Cow Herd

One of the truly unique operations in the nation rests on the flats east of the Cibola National Forest, in Stanley, NM. The Bill King family has a New Mexico heritage that stems back generations. Their herds of Charolais, Herefords, and Angus are nationally recognized, and steeped with the most prominent bloodlines in their respective breed. Bill and his family have a natural eye for cattle and have the ability to breed great ones in volume.

The backbone of the Charolais herd consists of the LT Bluegrass 4017, LT Rushmore 8060, TR Mr. Firewater 5792R ET, and LT Blue Value 7903 ET bloodlines. LT Horizon 6303 PLD and CAG CC Sideline 7063E ET represent a large portion of his standout cattle at present. Bill has been able to blend the Thomas Ranch and Lindskov-Thiel programs to the highest degree. Cattle at King Ranch must be able to cover big country, be hearty enough to survive the dry years, and still look good enough to pass the eye test of Bill and his family.

The first year we were lucky enough to have Bill in the National Sale, the pick of his bred heifers sold for $20,000 to Thomas Ranch and CK Cattle. That female is now a donor for those operations. In the 43rd National Sale, Lindskov LT Ranch selected the pick of the entire female herd for $18,000. If you are lucky enough to get this pick bought, I highly recommend taking the trip to New Mexico yourself. I hope you like green chili.

Hubert Charolais Ranch Cow Herd

Hubert Charolais Ranch is without a doubt one of the long-standing programs in the nation. Year after year breeders from across the country travel to Monument, Kansas to attend the annual bull sale. Always one of the strongest sales of the year, David has built a herd that produces quality on an annual basis. One of David’s highest priorities in breeding cattle is the maternal value of a cow. As you sort through his herd you will notice impeccable udders, flawless foot structure, and all-around excellent females. The Lindskov operation has made several purchases from Hubert over the years. In the spring of 2022, their investment was returned in spades as LT Justified 1528 PLD, a son of Miss HCR Leann 5651 PLD, commanded $130,000. Your trip to Western Kansas will be welcomed by 180 spring calving and 40 fall calving females. The bulk of these cows carry the service of Elder’s Houlio 4H, LT Justified 1528 PLD, HCR Centurion 0210, who has a 300 TSI, and LT Triumph 1299, David’s 2022 LT selection. If for some reason a cow doesn’t strike your fancy, you are more than welcome to take your pick from the replacement pen that includes 10 daughters of Elder’s Houlio 4H. Your selection doesn’t have to be made until the spring bull sale, April 2023. If you select then, and decide on a

Hebbert Charolais Bred Cows & Bred Heifers

Lot 5A – Choice of approximately 350 Mature Cows, due to calve in the Spring of 2023.

Lot 5B – Choice of approximately 110 Bred Heifers, due to calve in the Spring of 2023.

Hebbert Charolais has made their mark in the breed as a true legacy operation. Matt and Lacy, who were preceded by Dave and Mickie and Mose and Merla before them, have cemented the Hebbert brand as a staple of the breed. Nestled in the sandhills outside Hyannis, Nebraska, you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful area, and moreover a more productive herd of Charolais cattle. You will come for the cows and stay for the scenery and company.

The true test for a program isn’t how the cattle perform at home, but it is more important how they do in a different management structure. For the Hebbert’s, those success stories are plentiful. The most famous cow to be selected is HC Rhinestone 5100, the dam of RBM TR Rhinestone Z38, and RBM Fargo Y111. Personally, we think she is one of the best Charolais cows in the breed. The Lindskov-Thiel operation have selected many cows over the years, those picks produced bulls that averaged $9,500 at auction from 2019-2022. Parker Ranch, Twin Falls, Idaho, selected the bred heifer pick in the 43rd National Sale. Jason was blown away on his visit by not only the quality of the cattle, but the quality of the people involved with the operation, as well as their knowledge, and passion for the Charolais breed.

Schurrtop Bred Heifers

Over the last few years, the Charolais breed is paying more attention to growth and carcass traits. There is no herd in America as rich in these traits as the Schurrtop Ranch. Marty and Ryan Schurr and their families have always been on the cutting edge of cattle genetics. Whether it was artificial insemination, ultrasound, or feed efficiency testing. The Schurrtop operation believes in data and producing cattle that work in today’s beef industry. With decades of carcass data collection and feed efficiency testing, Schurrtop Ranch is now charting a new course in the industry.

The Schurr family knows the value of these genetics, thus they have kept them very guarded over the years. Never do they sell females, except in this sale, and you can rarely get semen on their sires. If you want to access their genetics you need to buy a bull from their sale. Over the years several astute cattlemen have done that. Ryan Honeyman, Wienk Charolais Ranch, Lee Eaton, Randall Raymond with Simplot, David Hubert, and Loren Broberg just to name a few. The Hubert – Broberg partnership on SCHURR Thing 626J PLD, has been a great purchase. With 16 sons selling between the two operations for an average of $5,625 in 2022 alone.

To help you quantify the genetic merit of this group, here is a percentage breakdown of how many of the bred heifers rank in the top one-third of the breed for certain EPD’s.

Results like this are real, they have proven it for years, both on paper and in real life. The Schurrtop herd is without a doubt one of the most unique operations you will ever step foot on. This is a rare opportunity that will only be available in this sale. The impact it could have on your herd is immeasurable.

Doll Charolais Ranch Bred Heifers

Doll Charolais Ranch has grown into one of the preeminent operations in the nation. The philosophy of the Doll boys is to breed Charolais that do what they are supposed to do, add performance. Their dedication to this mentality is what has garnered them a spot on the top 25 bull sales for the last several years. Purebred breeders from across North America have turned to the DCR brand to add high caliber herd sires, and females.

Just like last year the winning bidder will have the selection of over 100 spring calving bred heifers, that will be pairs by the time you make your selection. This year’s set will once again have the heavy influence of WCF Mr. Silver Gun 467, and TR CAG Carbon Copy 7630E ET. Those two sire groups have been the most popular in the recent bull sales. New to this year’s group will be the influence of DCR General Ridge G117, the high selling bull from the 2020 bull sale, and CML Rainmaker 948G, full brother to Canadian National Champion CML Raindance 996G. This year’s heifers will be mated to the $25,000 SCC Riptide 19H PLD, TR CAG Carbon Copy 7630E ET, and DCR Mr. Casanova C42.

Very rarely does a Doll female escape New Salem, but when they do they work. JMAR Jefferson 8M11, the $49,000 ABS bull was produced by a Doll female. Don’t let their dedication to performance fool you, this is one of the most elegant herds you will ever step foot in. You are welcome to make your selection after the heifers calve, but we respectfully ask that you get your pick done before May 1st, 2023.

Odden Charolais Ranch Bred Heifers

After several years of conversation about trying to shine a spotlight on their program, we finally broke through and got Odden Charolais Ranch to join us in the 44th National Sale. I have been after Andrew and Adam for many years to do something on a national scale, simply because I believe their cattle are some of the best in the country, and they deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication to the breed. The Odden family are 5th generation purebred Charolais breeders that breed performance-oriented cattle that look good and are backed by generations of proven genetics. The OCR brand was a staple on the main alley in the old Denver yards for years, and visitors from the U.S. and Canada would flock to their pen every year to see what they had to offer.

Colome, South Dakota offers you some of the most impressive views you will ever see. Don’t let those views distract you from the 90 head of bred heifers you have to choose from. The sires that make up this set are CAG CC Sideline 7063E ET, 2018 National Champion Bull, SAT Sundance 5116 P ET, Satterfield’s top seller in 2017, OCR New Deal, a Black Hill Stock Show high seller to Coudron Charolais. Other sires represented are LT Affinity, LT Landmark, DCC Smart Timing, OCR Xcaliber D144, High Bluff Casanova, and GCC Mighty Titan G42E. These heifers are bred to start calving February 1st, 2023. They ran with either TR Mr. Reagan 1602J, a GHC Reagan son out of a Carbon Copy x Montie cow with an impressive EPD profile, or KC Dakota Bob 1342J, a bull who offers a negative BW EPD, top 10% WW, and top 20% MARB.

From a quality standpoint, I don’t know that you will find a more impressive program in the country. South Dakota is home to many great herds of cattle, and Odden Charolais Ranch is in the mix with the best of them. Feel free to make your selection after they have calved out and you can select a pair. The person who buys this pick the first year will be the smartest, because it will only get more valuable as time goes on.

One of the breed’s future stars will be offered to you in the form of FTJ LTRRB905 LTBV Shandy 1527. 1527 is the dam of the genetic powerhouse FTJ Monticello 1806. Monticello has picked up steam over the last few years due to his incredible EPD tabulation. As breeders get calves on the ground they are more blown away by the added growth, substance of bone, and power he transmits to his progeny.

Shandy 1527 is just entering the prime of her production. While at transplant this past summer she yielded 50 IVF embryos in a 126-day period. Her genetic merit is rivaled by very few cows in the breed. She is in the top third of the breed for 12 different traits. Already a proven producer with Monticello’s breed wide acceptance, the first public offering of her genetics proved her worth even more. A pregnancy by her and sired by VPI Free Lunch 708T sold in the fall of 2022 for $14,000 to Greco Farms, Topeka, KS. 1527 is the complete package, powerhouse EPD’s, impeccable structure, beautiful udder, with added power and performance.

Cannon Charolais Ranch and Wild Indian Acres both had sales this fall but felt that this female needed to be featured in the National Sale. She sells bred to LT Atlas 0251, with more up to date calving info to come closer to the sale. DONORS

RBM Livestock has assembled a strong Charolais herd to complement their diverse Angus operation. Their goal is to put together cutting-edge genetics and build something special. With that said they went out an acquired embryos that were full sibs to the great BRCHE TR Dory 6501 and produced a cornerstone cow for themselves. Ryan and family are always trying to stay on the forefront of the business; thus, they are offering this full sib to Dory in the National Sale.

G10 is young in her production career so the majority of her story is told by her illustrious full sister. Dory has written a book of her own accomplishments, both in the show ring, and as a donor. Her progeny include CAG Bubbles 9950G, 5th Overall Heifer in both the Bred & Owned and Owned show at the 2020 Junior National, GHC Jello Shot 9480, 2020 American Royal Grand Champion Bull, WIA Backwater Jack 060, 2021 National Champion Bull, and many other sires and dams working in herds across the nation. Most recently Dory sold one-quarter embryo interest for $20,000. These genetics work.

RBM Katie G10 has the potential to match, and exceed, the production record established by her sister. As a bonus, RBM Katie G10 is safe to the $34,000 RBM Keystone H41, due January 24th. These genetics are not widely available as very few full sibs to G10, or daughters of TR Ms. Katie 4724B for that matter, exist. Seize this opportunity and create your own page in the history books.

We worked down to the wire to add this elite donor to the National Sale. As we looked at this year’s lineup, we were impressed but not satisfied. We wanted to add another high caliber production-based donor if we could identify the right one. After talking through several options, a call was placed to Mark Satterfield, and we quickly added M6 Ms. Jewel to our already deep sale. She sold in the fall of 2021, for $21,000, to clean up some partnerships. She is being offered in this sale only because Mark has a daughter by LT Badge that will take her place, and Casey has several progeny in the pipeline.

428 is a true income generator, to date she has amassed over $400,000 in progeny and genetics revenue. Her first 3 ET bulls had AWW’s of 787, 854, & 845, with the high seller of that group commanding $20,000 for one-half interest to Bowen Charolais. The next two sons boasted AWW of 702 & 783, they sold for $10,000 to 21 Ranch in Oklahoma, and $7,000 to Bradley 3 Ranch in Texas. In 2018 she produced the popular A.I. sire SAT Boomtown 8303 P ET, that sold half interest for $34,000 to Full Circle and Lindskov-Thiel. Another 2018 son brought $10,000 to Saginaw Charolais. Her 2020 progeny raised the bar yet again. FC RF Summit 0018 ET brought $52,500 to Ridder Farms and Winter Cattle, and a daughter sold for $10,000.

Her pedigree is deep with quality as well. Her maternal sister, M6 Ms. Sun Jewel 5117, sold through the 2021 Wild Indian Acres sale for $23,000 for one-half interest, that cows heifer calf sold for $11,500. Wagonhammer Ranches is steadily increasing their stock in the Charolais industry. With their first Charolais female sale taking place in November it was a little more difficult to select a lot for the National Sale, we all still wanted them to stay involved at some level. That is what led us to the WR Duchess Z610 donor. We felt that her track record and presence would be well suited as a consignment in this sale. Many daughters were featured in their fall sale, and several remain in the herd in Albion.

Z610 is one of the most prolific donors in their herd, with 24 progeny recorded in the system she has made quite the impact for Wagonhammer and several other operations. This year alone she produced the high selling bull, WR Relief J4604, selling for $17,000 to Boyert-Core. Relief will be used heavily in that program. A full sister to Relief, WR Duchess J4614, won her class at the 2022 Junior National for LJ Wells of Nebraska. WR Duchess C622 is another daughter that will sell as a highlight lot in the Wagonhammer Female Sale. Z610’s EPD profile is right for the times as well, she is in the top third of the breed for 6 traits. Top 5% CE, 5% BW, 3% MCE, 25% SC, 30% UDDER, & 15% MARB.

Her strongest selling point could be her track record of embryo production. Z610 has averaged 18 embryos per IVF flush and is averaging over 13 freezable embryos per conventional flush. A cow with a production record such as this, with a lively embryo production record, and a royal EPD profile is grounds enough to make the investment. You factor in that she has proven herself to produce both show cattle, and production cattle and you have a surefire cornerstone donor.

WCR Bold Move 168P was the $30,000 sale feature of the 2022 Wienk Charolais Ranch Bull Sale. He sold to a partnership between Polzin Cattle and ST Genetics. Bold Move caused quite a stir this spring when his picture was first released due to his excellent phenotype. Peel back the layers on this unique herd sire, you will find there is a whole lot more to offer besides good looks. What Bold Move offers in terms of genetic potential is hard to beat. He is sired by the $19,000 WC Platinum 8558 P and stems from one of the most prolific cow families in Lake Preston. He ranks in the top 35% of the breed for 9 different traits, including top 1% WW, 1% YW, and 1% TSI. He backs up these impressive EPD’s with great ratio’s as well. BWR/90, WWR/111, YWR/114, REAR/105 & MARBR/122. This comes as no surprise as his pedigree is packed with breed leading sires and dams. Yet still I think you will find that his pedigree flexibility could be one of his strongest attributes. Bold Move can be mated to most Ledger, Long Distance, Rushmore, Duke, and New Standard lines. Study the cow power behind Bold Move and you will be even more impressed. His dam, WCR Ms. Remix 9250 P was the top ADG and YW female among her 109 contemporaries. Both 9250 and her dam, WCR Ms. Prime Cut 640 P, are all within the top 3% for WW, YW, and TSI. When you couple all of this with an elite phenotype, plenty of genuine muscle, and a good structural build, you have the makings of a breed changer.

HERD SIRES

I think the Charolais breed is in a unique position to create “dual-threat” cattle. Cattle that can impress you visually, and on paper. And I believe that this is a bull that can usher us into that era. Circle B Endzone J889 has the tandem of show ring phenotype and production driven genotype. This combined with a time-tested pedigree, should make him a herd sire of the future.

First let’s study his pedigree. He is sired by the 50th National Champion Bull, CAG CC Sideline 7063E ET. The dam of Sideline is CC TR Adalina 3129 PLD ET, the 2015 National Champion Female. Sideline has already sired over 120 head with AICA, represented in herds like: King Ranch, Odden Charolais Ranch, Doonan Cattle Company, Trinity Valley, and Wakefield Farms. The dam of Endzone, AC Miss Clara 728, is bred as well as they come, and had a great show career before her time as a donor. Her pedigree is deep with breed legends like; LT Ledger 0332 P, VCR Sir Silverman 508 P, KC Design 4246 P, and WCR FA Mac 2244.

When you blend these two genetic bases together you get something very special, Circle B Endzone J889 ET. In person Endzone is an attractive, well-built bull, with tremendous foot quality, and structural integrity. He possesses a deep, soft rib cage, with a big top, and stout hip. On top of his obvious physical attributes, he offers excellent genetic merit. He is top 20% WW, 9% YW, 15% CW, 35% MARB and 10% TSI. Endzone is well suited to work in both show ring, and production scenarios. He can complement your EPD driven cattle, while adding an unmatched style.

Eaton Charolais Herd Sire Prospects

In 2022, Eaton Charolais ranked 15th on Beef Magazines Top 100 Seedstock Producers list will 775 bulls sold. They utilize various selection criteria to narrow their bull calf crop down to a manageable number. Your selection will come from nearly 800 head of potential herd sires. Please keep in mind that not many breeders in the entire beef industry have the end goal in mind like the Eaton family. They have decades of experience in the feedlot and retail sector of the industry.

Eaton Charolais bulls are bred to add performance, carcass merit, and maternal strength. They lead the nation in active Dams of Distinction, the proof is in the pedigree in this cowherd. As the Charolais breed trends more towards a focus on Marbling, there is no better operation to add this trait than the ETN brand. Your next herd sire will be linebred for uniformity, backed by generations of data, and bred for longevity and carcass excellence.

The partnership between White Rose Charolais and Hill Brothers Livestock has been a very productive one so far. Roger is an excellent cattle breeder, with years of experience within the breed. Paul and Nia are some of the best in the country at preparing and exhibiting livestock. As a team they are building a solid program of quality and customer service. Their partnership resulted in the Reserve Grand Pen of Three Bulls at the 2022 National Charolais Show in their first outing in that arena.

These bulls represent the top of White Rose’s breeding program and will offer tremendous value to their new owner. Slated to show as a Pen of Three, these bulls averaged 84 lbs. at birth and 773 at weaning. Couple that with their genetic merit, we feel that every one of these bulls can make an impact. Represented in this pen are two sons of LT Patriot 4004 PLD by the dam of the $200,000 for one-third interest M&M Ms. Carbine 1567 PLD. Carbine is also the dam of CAG TR GHC Billy 9951G, the sire of 216K. There is another son of the genetic giant JMAR Benaiah 1E66. A well balanced pen both in terms of phenotype and on paper.

NextGen Cattle is building quite the herd of Charolais cows. Their dedication to the beef industry is leading them to make big strides in acquiring front end genetics to advance their operation. Their goal is to take proven traditional bloodlines and blend them with more modern genetics to create a predictable producer with an elite EPD profile and front pasture eye appeal.

The process that brought this pen of heifers to fruition started many years ago. They purchased a package of embryos from the Black Hills Stock Show Gold Rush Sale sired by M&M Outsider 4003 PLD and out of the M&M Ms. Stealth 9509 donor. This purchase yielded their first consignment in 42nd National Sale as they sold NG Stealth’s Fire 20H for $36,000 to Lauren Aust of LaCygne, Ks. They retained an interest in that female and she produced a daughter in the pen. The other two heifers are a product of a flush they bought for $12,500 in RBM 5100 Rhinestone E32 in another Gold Rush Sale. All three heifers are sired by their main herd sire, LT Badge 9184 PLD. He was selected by NextGen in the 2020 Lindskov-Thiel Bull Sale for $105,000 and is quickly becoming one of the most used sires in the breed.

Buyer has the choice of 30 February & March heifer calves

Jon Proehl of J & J Trust has been amassing some of the most dynamic genetics the breed has to offer. Over the past several years Jon has been a major player at Lindskov-Thiel and Wright Charolais, and he has made impeccable selections in past National Sales and the Grand Hills dispersal. Now he is making his second appearance in the 44th National Sale, with his first public offering of females.

The buyer of this lot will have the choice of thirty February and March heifer calves, both ET and natural. The list of donors that represent the thirteen ET calves is nothing short of impressive! They include LT Brenda 8034, the $50,000 high selling female in the historic Grand Hills dispersal and producer of the $14,000 high selling flush in the 43rd National Sale; M&M Ms. Carbine 1567, the dam of M&M Outsider 4003 PLD, who sold as the high selling lot at the entire 2022 National Western and now has a total valuation of $600,000; LT Ballet 9219, the dam of LT Sundance 2251, LT Venture 3198, and LT Commissioner 5232—three studs averaging $55,667 at auction; and finally, GRDT Pandora 217F, the great Outsider daughter who was Grand Champion at the 2021 South Dakota Spotlight.

Mating’s by these donors and the likes of CCC WC Redemption, DC/CRJ Tank, LT Badge, LT Blue Value, and LT Patriot are sure to be a hit! But don’t think you have to just take an ET. The natural calves are sired by breed greats like Elders Houlio, DC/CRJ Tank, LT Spartan, LT Affinity, and Box P Reliance and out of daughters of the LT Brenda cow family, M&M Carbine, M6 Germaine 484, and selections out of the herds of Wright Charolais, Grand Hills, and Lindskov-Thiel.

Jon’s effort of securing elite genetics over many years is now on show with these high-quality heifers. This is truly an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of this emerging Charolais powerhouse. Jon would like this selection to be made by April 15, 2023, and he will retain the rights to one successful flush of six embryos at his expense.

Choice of Three ET Daughters

FTJ Monticello 1806 is making shockwaves through the entire breed. The daughters that he is producing are especially exciting, these three ET daughters should grab your attention. Yes, they are young, only May born babies, but the donors they are out of are simply outstanding.

VPI Ms. Tradition 011X Dam of 288 and 291

WIA Ms. Jewel Maker 290 P. She is a daughter of the $46,000 valuation donor, M6 Ms. Sun Jewel 5117. 5117 topped the 2021 Wild Indian Acres sale, selling half interest to Ankony in Georgia. In that same sale a daughter of 5117 sold for $11,500. That heifer, WIA Ms. Jewel 121 P, was Supreme Champion at the Iowa State Fair for Riley Smith, and we are selling an IVF cycle on her as lot 21. 5117 is the #1 proven donor for TSI in the entire breed. She is also the only female in the breed to be in the top 1% for WW, YW, MTL, SC, CW, & REA. This blend of look and EPD is not easy to come by.

WIA Ms. Monticello 288 P & WIA Ms. Tradition 291 P. Both of these heifers are the product of VPI Miss Tradition 011X. Her 15 progeny are represented in the VPI, Raasch, and Wild Indian herds. She produced a son, WIA Mr. Tradition 096 P, that weaned of at 826 lbs. and sold for $12,500 to Andrew Foglesong, Ipava, Ill. These heifers rank in the top 20% BW, WW, top 6% YW, top 1% MARB, and top 3% TSI.

Wild Indian Acres would respectfully ask you to make your selection when these heifers reach a year of age, if not before. Pictures and videos available before sale day.

The Ankony name is synonymous with excellence at every level. For more than 85 years, Ankony has been an industry-leading source of elite seedstock genetics for both the purebred breeder and commercial cattleman. With a lifelong passion for the Charolais breed, Virgil Lovell has assembled complete combinations of phenotype and genotype in building the program. The genetics represent a proven carcass focus in a highly maternal package. Ankony joins us in the 44th National Charolais Sale with the right to flush opportunity in LCC Miss Lady 6333 023 FL.

One of the cornerstone cows in the Ankony donor battery, 6333 is the #1 Marbling female in the entire breed. Her .65 MARB EPD represents the highest figure among all parents, both male and female. This carcass quality is no fluke, it is bred into her for several generations. Both her sire and her dam are in the top 1%. Her maternal grandam, MF Miss Lady 6868, is the dam of the #3, #5, and #6 ranked Marbling females and the #8 ranked bull in the entire breed. 6333 is the dam of the breed’s #1 ranked Marbling 2021-born bull. But she offers more than just a high Marbling EPD. 6333 also ranks in the top 30% CE, 25% WW, 20% YW, 4% SC, 10% UDDER, 15% TEAT, 20% CW, and 5% TSI. On top of all her genetic advantages she offers a soft, maternal phenotype with impeccable feet and structure.

Her sterling flush record yields 15.4 freezable embryos per IVF flush. Virgil decided to make this opportunity as right for the buyer as he could. You will receive a minimum of 8 embryos, and furthermore a guarantee of 3 pregnancies. This flush will be available to you immediately after the sale. The flush will take place at Ankony in Georgia by TransOva. The buyer will be responsible for providing semen and will pay all fees associated with the flush. This is a high impact genetic package, the way the breed is trending makes this flush a rare opportunity to add upper echelon statistics to your herd.

Selling IVF cycle to bull of buyer’s choice.

We feel very fortunate to be able to offer this opportunity in the 44th National Sale. A female with this kind of track record doesn’t come around every day. And a Charolais being crowned Supreme Champion Female at the Iowa State Fair is even more rare. Riley Smith campaigned this great female all summer and led her to the winner’s circle at the “Granddaddy of them all”. Not to mention a division title at the 2022 Junior National and Reserve Division at the National Show in Kansas City.

WIA Ms. Jewel 121 P was produced and sold by Wild Indian Acres where she brought $11,500 at 6 months of age to Kendall Bremer. She ended up in the capable hands of Riley Smith and her family that are rooted in the Charolais breed. Her dam, M6 Ms. Sun Jewel 5117 P ET, sold the same day for $23,000 for half-interest to Ankony Farms. The sire of 121, TR CC Deliverance 7974 PLD ET, was the $25,000 selection by Jerry Vaughan at the famed Black Hills Stock Show sale. This mating did exactly what it was supposed to do, produce a female with elite phenotype that can back it up on paper. Her EPD profile offers a very strong top 9% WW, 10% YW, 8% CW, 8% REA and 20% TSI. Not to be overstated, but we think the Charolais breed is poised to produce cattle that offer dual-threat capabilities.

We are selling an IVF cycle to the bull of the buyer’s choice. Sellers will guarantee 7 transferable embryos and 3 confirmed pregnancies. The E.T. work will be done at Trans Ova, Onida, SD. We are extremely pleased to welcome Full Circle Cattle Company to the 44th National Sale. Taylor is one of the brightest young minds to ever enter our industry and is building a herd to be reckoned with. He has spared no expense acquiring genetics from Lindskov-Thiel, Hubert Charolais Ranch, Satterfield, and many more elite operations.

Taylor bestowed upon us the privilege of highlighting a future donor for his program, LT Brenda 6714 ET PLD. 6714 is one of the very few full sisters to LT Brenda 6120 PLD, the dam of LT Ledger 0332 P, GHC Reagan 9012 PLD, and GHC Brenda 8005. In an age where EPDs, and performance are becoming king, 6714 should be extremely attractive to you. She is in the top 25% of the breed for 9 traits including top 7% WW, 7% YW. 3% MILK, 1% MTL, 2% SC, 1% CW, 25% REA, 15% MARB & 10%TSI. She backs this up with her progeny as well. Her 5 calves averaged 758 lbs. at weaning and a 111 average WW ratio. Her first two calves were #1 in their entire contemporary group. Her real-world performance coupled with her royal pedigree will almost assure her success as a donor.

This is the only time Taylor will let the public access a flush on this cow. Seller will guarantee a minimum of 6 freezable embryos. Buyer will pay all expenses related to flush. Please don’t make the mistake of passing this opportunity up.

Bull Registration

Spring 2023 will mark a milestone in the history of the Charolais breed in the United States -The breed’s one millionth purebred bull.

You have the opportunity to acquire American-International Charolais Association Registration Number M1000000. This effort will support the American Charolais Foundation for Youth & Education.

AICA was formed with the merger of the American Charolais Association and International Charolais Association in 1957. The first purebred bull registration, M1, was Champ Rue, bred by G. G. Gomez of Mexico.

The year 2014 and the 35th National Charolais Sale marked the offering of AICA Registration Number F1000000 – Albert Stone & Family, White Wheel Charolais Ranch, had the winning bid. The number was assigned to WWCR Penny 3076 ET – a past Top 10 Show Female of the Year for Augusta Marston.

The breeder with the winning bid will receive the right to utilize this historical registration number when registering a previously unregistered purebred bull or a registered purebred bull with no recorded progeny.

The bull that is registered with the number M1000000 will be acknowledged with a permanent plaque in the AICA headquarters and will receive editorial in the Charolais Journal denoting the achievement.

The ACF mission is to provide research, development and educational activities benefiting the beef cattle industry and Charolais breed. Under IRS code Section 501(C) (3), ACF is a tax-exempt organization qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers, and gifts.
