Welcome!
On behalf of our entire family, we would like to welcome you back to the farm for Swanson Cattle Company’s 2nd Annual Production Sale. We would especially like to thank those who supported us on our inaugural sale, and we look forward to doing business with you again.
With a whole year of planning, we have put together an exceptional offering that will no doubt add value to your program. We have a deep set of open heifers that will be competitive in the show ring, but more importantly could be donor potential females. We have added two new herd sires, KR Incredible, Wood Ruthless along with All Eyes on Me, whose first calf crop was very successful. The elite set of cows and bred heifers will bring consistency, balance, eye appeal and genetics that will be the cornerstone of your herd. We feel that the genetics in this sale make up a lifetime of hard work and dedication to the cattle industry.
You will find our sale to be loaded with opportunities. The same GREAT genetics with some new twists. Come and view the cattle and enjoy our hospitality. We look forward to seeing you December 11th!
- The Swanson FamilyDear Cattlemen -
Welcome to the 2022 Swanson Cattle Company Production Sale. The Swanson crew has once again complied a set of cattle that I believe is worth your consideration. The genetics represented in this offering are some of the best in the country. This year’s offering spans the Simmental, Angus, Maine, and Club Calf breeds. The show heifer offering is simply elite, the bred heifers and cows will be instant income generators. New this year is a set of fall calving pairs, all with Remedy calves at side.
Last year we called the sale New Beginnings. I won’t lie, as we geared up for this year, I struggled with that a little. Mainly because the Swanson operation isn’t new, it is a longstanding family opearation that has been around for decades. Generations of families have called Northwest Iowa home, tending the land, and raising high quality cattle. What they are doing isn’t new, it is evolution. That is what they have done with this years set, they evolved. They made the decision to expand their genetic base. With that came large purchases from Sullivan Farms and Krebs Ranch. Some of those purchases will be offered to you in this sale, many will remain in the herd to increase the quality of their Simmental and Angus operations. Never the kind to rest on their laurels, after a successful first sale they made the decision to go full btre into the future. The set of cattle that will sell on December 11th is truly something to see. We feel that the evolution of Swanson Cattle Company is just beginning. The family is second to none, the cattle are great, and the hospitality will blow you away.
- Colt KefferWe feel that this year’s Lot 1 open heifer checks all the boxes that a show heifer, and donor in the making needs to. From a phenotype standpoint you are looking at one of the most complete heifers ever produced in Peterson, Ia. Lot 1 is smooth built, attractive in her pattern, with added depth of rib and structural integrity. Her pedigree backs up her exquisite design. Sired by the $530,000 SO Remedy 7F, and out the famed Countess cow family, she will do nothing but get better. Remedy’s first set of daughters cut a swath, selling for $50,000, two at $40,000, $35,000 & $27,000.

Ahalf-sister to Lot 1, this Remedy daughter has some advantages over her sister. Lot 2 maintains the look, and design of her sister, while adding more substance of bone, a bigger foot, and a touch more power from behind. We believe the Remedy cattle will be elite in the show ring. Morgan Jackson from Texas campaigned one of the first daughters very successfully. She was selected Grand at the NWSS Junior Show, Reserve in the Open, Champion in Fort Worth and Houston, and 3rd Overall Purebred at the Junior National.
Iam a big fan of this Maine-Angus female, I think this one will give them all they want next year. She blends a soft, maternal look with nearly perfect structure, and enough muscle and dimension to stand out. Her pedigree is proven as well. A maternal sister, shown by Landree Warnock of Indiana, had a successful show career. Blake and Lindsey have quite a deal going with the Maine-Angus show, this one will hunt in that growing event. Gateway
his pair of full sisters will certainly grab your attention. Each heifer offers her own unique advantages. Lot 4 is a good-looking, well-built female. You will love her hip and hind leg structure, in tandem with her attractive frontend assembly. Lot 5 is more cowy in her build. Extra rib depth and spring, and still soft legged, and strong topped. We go back and forth on which one is the better of the two. We think each heifer will work for different segments of the industry, depending on what your end goal is. Brad Smith sold a full sib for $10,500, a Remedy maternal sib brought $30,000, and a Rebel maternal sib brought $17,000.
In my opinion the most important aspect of quality breeding cattle is their structure. Lot 6 gives you that structure in spades. You will appreciate her feet and legs, loose spine, and reach through her frontend. To add to this already high-quality heifer, she offers plenty of upper rib shape, center body depth, and dimension from behind. I believe that Lot 6 has the eye appeal needed to be a great show heifer, as well as the essentials of a tremendous brood cow and potential donor.
This bald faced, May born heifer is extremely exciting. She has that killer look on the profile that is so desired in the show ring. Extra attractive through her front end, cool headed, and cocky. Her sire is a Hammer son, out of the $100,000 Firefly 311A, shown by Chesney Effling. Study her bottom side and you will find even more quality. Her dam, EC Countess 78G, is a Profit out of DSFF Countess 504D. A full sib to 78G sold for $125,000 to Sara Sullivan. That cow is now a mainstay donor in Dunlap.
Take the time to look this one over and we think you will find quite a bit of value in her. Her pedigree is steeped in greatness. With Remedy, Hammer, and the Countess cow family all mixed in, you know this one has the goods for the long haul. A full sister to Lot 8 went through the 2021 Hartman sale at $15,000. This heifer is just as complete and attractive as her 2021 counterpart.
Lot 9 is a dual registered half-blood Simmental and Maintainer. We picked her out this summer to sell as a feature open heifer because of her genuine build, sound structure, and soft rib shape. She took a little while to get going after weaning but heading into fall we feel that she could be big time.
Our leadoff cow has all the components of a future donor. Phenotype, Pedigree, and Performance. Study her from any angle, and she could be one of the most impressive cows to sell all year. This strip faced brood matron is a direct daughter of the $435,000 Ruby’s Currency 7134E. Currency’s daughters are rising to the top and making tremendous cows. Her maternal granddam is the great Firefly 311A, 2014 Reserve Grand Female at the Junior National and American Royal Grand Champion. We feel that this cow’s phenotype is simply elite. She is attractive, powerful in her build, yet still refined in her bone structure. Sound on her feet and legs, with a big foot, and deep heel. We know there is a love hate relationship with EPDs, and cattle with phenotype aren’t supposed to have good EPDs. This is where Lot 10 shines even brighter. She ranks in the top third of the breed for 11 different traits. We think this is a perfect example of a dual threat donor.
Lot 11 is a dynamic three-quarter daughter of the $400,000 TJ High Caliber 556B. She was a member of the 2018 Reserve Pen of Three Percentage Females at the NWSS. She is a powerful, big bodied, stout hipped cow that you will love to look at. She has been a very good producer for the Swanson operation. Producing a bull that sold through a past sale, and the lead off first calf heifer in the 2021 sale, selling to Aces Wild Ranch, is another daughter. Lot 11 offers great breeding flexibility, in tandem with great structure and a stout build.
AI’D TO SO REMEDY 7F. DUE 2/5/23. This direct daughter of breed legend Mr. TR Hammer 308A is as powerful as they come. Extra thick, stout hipped, and massive in her center body. Her dam is a Broker daughter that originated in the great Meyer herd in Auburn, Ne. We think this young cow has a very bright future and has the potential to raise high quality purebred or percentage cattle. She is safe in calf to the $530,000 SO Remedy 7F. That calf could be worth a mint.
AI’D TO WOOD RUTHLESS 151H ET. DUE 1/11/23.
Lot 13 has a pedigree that is steeped in cornerstones of the Simmental breed. Names like Hammer, Pilgrim, Firefly, and Countess make up her lineage. What makes her even more special is the quality, and balance that makes up her build. She is extra-long spined, built well at the ground, with flexibility, and integrity in her structure. This young female has all the makings of a future donor.
AI’D TO WOOD RUTHLESS 151H ET. DUE 3/13/23. I have lot 14 marked well. This purebred cow is a daughter of WAGR Thunderstruck, who is a Broker x Lullaby. Already a proven producer, her daughter will sell as Lot 9 in this sale. I am anxious to see how Ruthless produces, I really think that a cow bred like this will click well with him. That mating will stack more good cattle into an already red-hot pedigree.
AI’D TO SO REMEDY 7F. DUE 2/27/23. What a genetic package this is. The resulting calf in this cow will be a Remedy x Profit. That mating alone has resulted in millions of dollars in production already, and it has only been a couple calf crops worth. Lot 15 is a stout, powerful cow, with a shot more frame and length. She has the look and style to click well with Remedy. This could be an under the radar cow that will end up being a great producer.
AI’D TO HERE I AM. DUE 3/12/23. I have high hopes for this cow, and the calf that she is carrying. I think could be big time. What Here I Am has accomplished in the club calf world is nothing short of amazing. Pretty much every major and state fair winner is by that great sire. She has already produced a full sib to this mating that sold well. This is the type of cow to work great on him as well. Big ribbed, soft, with a stout hip, and a cool hind leg.
This years bred heifer division is stacked with as much quality, and diversity as we can hope to produce. Our leadoff in this set is a tremendous Primo half-blood, that is a direct daughter of the great Jade female. She offers a notch more power than your average half-blood, combined with the body depth, and structural integrity that the Angus hybrid cattle are known for. The dam of Lot 18, BFSC Jade’s Legacy 950Y, is a foundation Simmental cow for the Swanson family. She has been a prolific producer over the years. In the 2021 sale she produced cattle that sold to Burke Show Cattle, and Aces Wild Ranch. We truly feel that this bred heifer is built for the long haul, and will be an instant income generator, as she is safe to the past Cattlemen’s Congress Reserve Grand Percentage Bull WHF Double Up.
AI’D TO KR INCREDIBLE 1226. DUE 3/25/23. Swanson’s made a trip to Dunlap this summer to try and find some cattle to expand their genetic base and add some diversity to their sale offering. They returned with a load of cattle that will do just that. Every open heifer they bought is out of a current or future donor. Lot 19 is out of the 2018 Junior National Champion Shorthorn Plus Female, SULL Styling Crystals 7022E ET. Her genetic makeup alone allows you to mate her in a variety of ways to produce dual registered cattle. Study her quality and you will find that this will be easy to do. She is flat good. She is bred natural service to the exciting young Angus bull, KR Incredible 1226.
AI’D TO WOOD RUTHLESS 151H ET. DUE 2/11/23.
This purebred Simmental female should get you revved up. A daughter of the famed JBSF Proud Mary, she offers phenotypic quality, and a solid pedigree. Her extra length of spine added depth, and spring of rib is only trumped by her balance, and quality from the side. Sisters to this heifer have been very popular for Sullivan’s, and this one is an example why. I am confident that she will be a high-income donor for her new home.
Wise Lola was the Reserve Grand Percentage Heifer at the 2018 Junior National for Sara Sullivan. Her first progeny to sell include a $17,000 open heifer for Pembrook. These two full sib heifers are what cornerstone cows and donors should look like. They are moderate in their frame, deep ribbed, with a soft and maternal build to them. Both of these heifers are safe to OMF Epic E27, we think the resulting calves could be very good.
AI’D TO WOOD RUTHLESS 151H ET. DUE 3/1/23. As far as Red Simmental cows go, the dam of Lot 23 could be the best. SVJ She’s The Dream B765 sold for $100,000, then entered a great run as a donor. Her most famous daughter, JSUL Dream Big 8992F, was Calf Champion at the 2018 NAILE, Reserve Grand in both the Junior and Open shows at the 2019 FWSSR. She then capped off her show career being named Grand Champion Percentage at the 2019 NAILE. That heifer is a full sib to the Lot 23 female. Not much more can be said that isn’t already proven.
AI’D TO THSF LOVER BOY B33. DUE 2/11/23.
Miss Penny 15B has turned into one of the best donors for Sullivan Farms. She is a Broker daughter that has produced well for the last several years. Daughters include the 5th Overall Female at the Hoosier Beef Congress for the Farree Family, Champion ORB Heifer at the State Fair of Texas for the Rayfield Family, and a $7,500 full sister that sold right through this sale last year. This bred heifer is of that same quality, and we think she will continue her genetic progress with the mating to Lover Boy.
Another pair of full sisters out of a donor, HPF Alley D904. This heifer is a full sib to so many cattle that have won or been high sellers for Sullivan. For purebred cattle both of these heifers offer power and elegance all in one package. They are smooth built, yet still bold ribbed, and stout hipped. Take you pick of the progeny as Lot 27 is bred to have a purebred calf and 28 will have a half-blood.
AI’D TO THSF LOVER BOY B33. DUE 1/10/23. This moderate framed, smooth built daughter of Fortune is safe in calf to the great Lover Boy. Our heavy use of Hartman genetics has been driven over the years mainly due to their ability to produce cattle that are this high quality. We feel that the cross with Lover Boy will result in an exciting calf.
AI’D TO SO REMEDY 7F. DUE 1/9/23. SWSN Cash Flow 81E has a special place in our hearts, as he carries the SWSN brand, and has had tremendous success. Cash Flow sired the Champion Pen of Three Bulls at the 2021 Cattleman’s Congress. Two of those bull went on to sell for $62,500 and $47,500. This direct daughter is moderate in her frame, bold ribbed, and cool looking. A bonus for you is she is safe to the $530,000 SO Remedy 7F.
TO WOOD RUTHLESS 1512H ET. DUE 1/9/23. This bred heifer has Mr. CCF 20-20 on the top side of her pedigree, and Driver on the bottom. When it comes to maternal quality, and elite look that is as good as it gets. She is a maternal sib to a cow that will sell in the fall group.
TO SO REMEDY 7F. DUE 1/10/23.
32 is a product of a Driver x Angus female. Cattle bred that way are popular and offer a tremendous amount of longevity. This female is sired by the $250,000 TL Ledger, one of the first and most popular Profit sons. Once again, safe to Remedy.
This is one of my absolute favorite cows in the entire sale. This Angus donor could be an elite producer of both purebred and percentage cattle. Her lineage is flat good. She is a daughter of EXAR Frontier Gal 4872 who was Intermediate Champion at the 2015 Junior National. 4872 has been a great producer for the Ward family. A daughter was selected Reserve Division at the 2022 Cattleman’s Congress, and another daughter was a featured lot in their fall sale. A full brother to G626, WB Buck, is being used very heavily in the Buck program in Oklahoma. RJ bought her first calf in last year’s sale to make into a donor. Lot 33 has been flushed 3 times by Swanson at a clip of 10,11 and 10. She will sell exposed to KR Incredible 1226, with updated calving info on sale day.
Angus Bred Heifers
member of the Swanson family truly believe the Krebs cattle are the best Angus they have ever seen. This leadoff heifer is an example of that quality, we think she is flat good. She is as balanced, and attractive as you can make one, with added muscle, rib depth, and bone. Her sire, KR Storm, was a $200,000 sale highlight for the Krebs Ranch in 2020. Her dam, 6269, and granddam, 7473, have both been prolific donors for the Ranch. We are confident that cattle like this will work in whatever breeding program you want to utilize, whether it be purebred or

This heifer is an absolute genetic powerhouse. We feel that the amount of quality bred into this heifer is as good as it gets in terms of the Angus breed. Her sire, Chestnut Strut, was a member of the very popular Champion Pen of Three Bulls for Chestnut Angus. Her dam traces back to the immortal Sara’s Dream cow family, not much introduction is needed there. 1424 is incredibly good looking, with a genuine build, and plenty of dimension. She is AI safe to KR Mojo. Mojo sons highlighted the 2022 Krebs Ranch Bull Sale due to their power, substance, and killer look.
Another high-quality Angus bred heifer that is backed by generations of Krebs donors. Both the dam and granddam of 1266 served as donors for Krebs Ranch. One thing you will notice when you study these pedigrees is the outcross breeding. The Swanson Family and Krebs Ranch share a common philosophy about breeding cattle. Quality comes first, no matter what. These cattle are bred to have power, upper rib shape, skeletal width, and to look good. Which is just what this heifer has. She is complete, and powerful.
AI BRED TO KR MOJO 8520. DUE 1/11/23. The Lass family is a household name in the Angus breed. The dam of this bred heifer, KR Lass 9362, sold for $50,000 as a heifer calf to Circle M in Texas. She is a granddaughter of WK Lass 9715, who is the foundation of the Lass family, which is the most dominate cow family at Krebs Ranch.
AI BRED TO CAR DON ANNUITY 114. DUE 1/10/23. We all really like the attractive build offered by this bred heifer. If you decide to keep mating her Angus, you will have plenty of options due to her outcross pedigree, and the fact that she ranks in the top third of the Angus breed for 13 different traits. If you decide to make percentage cattle out of her, we think she has the front-end assembly, balance of lines, and build at the ground to carry a wide array of sires.
These two full sisters offer as much genetic excitement as anything else in the sale. Sired by Irish Whiskey and out of one of the most popular Angus females in many years, WB PVF Lucy 1052, who was named Reserve Grand at the 2013 NWSS. Both of these sisters are sound footed, smooth constructed, and good necked. They have been great producers in the club calf side of the Swanson program. That being said, their maternal strength is their most undervalued trait with 1052’s genetics still in play today for Swanson, Ward and PVF.
MAINETAINER
AI BRED TO ALL EYES ON ME. DUE 2/19/23. Lot 41 is an I80 cow carrying an All Eyes on Me calf that should return your investment ASAP. She has a long, cool neck, with a good hip and is sound structured.
SWSN 117Z
AI BRED TO HERE I AM . DUE 2/27/23. We picked out this Daddy’s Money daughter to sell this summer. Seeing her hold up in this summer’s heat we couldn’t imagine what she would look like this fall. Moderate frame, good rib shape, and cool looking. Imagine if she lays down and has another HIA bull calf.
AI’D TO ALL EYES ON ME. DUE 3/21/23. This Whiskey x Kadabra combination could work out well for her new buyer. Lot 43 is a maternal sib to SWSN Nun Better, a standout MAB promotional herd bull. So, the pedigree is proven. With her current mating to All Eyes on Me, the sky is the limit.
AI’D TO ANDRAS FUSION R236. DUE 1/12/23. There has been nothing more popular over the last 2 decades than a Monopoly X Char, and Lot 44 is an example of why that is true. She will be an absolute machine when it comes to kicking out club calves. She has the right length of spine, and appropriate body depth to click with HIA, and she is sound structured. Aces Wild Ranch bought both of her maternal sibs in last year’s sale.
AI’D TO STEVENSON TURNING POINT. DUE 2/11/23. This hybrid heifer is registered as a quarter-blood Simmental but offers flexibility into other programs as well. She has a great pattern, is sound on her feet and legs and good built. She stems from the great Harietta cow family that has done so much in the industry. Don’t overlook this one.

Lot 49 Dam, SWSN Miss Whiskey 566,Sells as Lot 40
Lot 48 is a 2017 daughter of Style that is very complete and attractive, she is safe to All Eyes on Me. Lot 49 is a 2019 daughter of Primo, safe to HIA. Both cows are products of the Irish Whiskey x 1052 cow that sell as lots 39 and 40.
All summer Chris and Tom were raving about this fall calving cow they had. They thought she was maybe one of the best ones they have ever had. So, when I made the trip in June, I was expecting big things. And Lot 50 lived up to those expectations. She is an incredible baldie female. Her sire, Mr. CCF 20-20, sired the Champion Pen of Five Bulls at the 2022 Cattleman’s Congress. Those bulls averaged $54,200 at auction. Her dam had a three-quarter sister sell for $15,000 in the 2021 Hartman Customer Appreciation Sale. You will search far and wide to find a young cow with this kind of look, power, and pedigree. Not to be out done but her heifer calf sired by the $530,000 SO Remedy will put you directly in the fast lane.
BULL CALF SIRED BY SO REMEDY 7F. TATTOO: 957K. ASA: 4099036. DOB 9/3/22. This group of falls could be the deepest division on the offering, and if Lot 50 wasn’t in the sale, everyone would be clamoring over Lot 51. She is that good. What more can be said about her pedigree that hasn’t already been proven. She is a daughter of Firefly 311A, the dam of $185,000 ACLL Fortune. Her sire, Profit, was produced in a partnership between Hartman and Al Swanson on the great Panarama donor. Think of them what you will but the pedigree that makes up this cow has proven itself time and time again. Her Remedy sired bull calf should grow up to be a high-impact herd bull.
BULL CALF SIRED BY SO REMEDY 7F. TATTOO: 946K. ASA: 4099034. DOB 9/8/22.
Another high-quality daughter of 20-20, this time out of a Driver sired cow. Her dam, Daisy Mae, has been a cornerstone donor for Colburn. Take one look at this female and you will appreciate her eye appeal, power, and structure. An added advantage to these fall calving cows is that they are primed to enter an ET program not long after the sale.
HEIFER CALF SIRED BY SO REMEDY 7F. TATTOO: 942K. ASA: 4099033. DOB. 9/8/22. I am fond of this cow mainly due to her impeccable udder directly after calving. She would make a Holstein jealous. Her maternal side stems back to the Countess cow family that has produced millions of dollars’ worth of cattle for HCC. Another Remedy heifer calf at side that could clip a big coupon for you next spring.
Thank
On behalf of the entire family at Swanson Cattle Co, we extend our gratitude for your interest in our operation. We are proud of the cattle offered and look forward to seeing them work for you.
