Nov. 16th -30th (Topic) Dec. 1st-4th (Problem Statement & Hypothesis) Dec. 7th-11th (Materials & Procedure) Dec. 14th – 18th (Research) Jan. 5th – 8th (Experiment & Observations) Jan. 11th – 15th (Results & Conclusion) Jan. 19th – 28th (Display Board) Feb. 1, 2010 (Projects due)

Feb. 3rd – 5th (School Science Fair) Feb. 20, 2010 (County Fair)


Part 1  Title - Explains what the experiment is about. Can be creative, fun, and interesting.

 Problem

Statement - What do

we want to find out?

 Hypothesis – What do you think you will find out? A guess/prediction.


RESEARCH: 

   

Background information about your topic. You may use: Internet Encyclopedias Books Magazines.


Part 2  Research – Background information.  Bibliography – References used.  Materials - What was used.  Procedure - The steps used from

beginning to end on how the experiment was completed.


Part 3 

Design an Experiment.

 Variables – The factor in an experiment that

you measure that may change because of what you are testing.

 Controls – The factors in an experiment that remain the same in an experiment.


Part 4  Observations – What did you 

actually see during your experiment? Use: Charts, diagrams, photos, and graphs to record data.


Part 4 Results – Write down what happened in the experiment.

Conclusion – Tell if your hypothesis was correct or incorrect. Answer the problem. What did you learn?

Abstract – Write a three paragraph summary about the entire project.
