No matter your budget; there are so many things to see and do year round in this glorious metropolis. Festivals are so plentiful that they overlap. We are oozing culture at the seems, and life in Montreal is grand. People travel from all over to visit our festivals; and the Montreal International Jazz Festival highlights the list of things not to miss. But what about the lesser mentioned aspects of this phenomenal festival? Yes, I am of course referring to the many street performances that take place between the bands, to the

How to sell a house that didn't sell

M

ontreal - If your home has just come off the market and hasn't sold, don't be discouraged. The reason your home did not sell may have nothing to do with your home or the market. In reality, your home may have been one of the more desirable properties for sale. So Why Didn't Your Home Sell? Last year many of the homes listed for sale never sold at all, and many sellers found that there was a tremendous amount a homeowner needed to be educated on to sell their home for top dollar in the shortest time period.

Don't risk making the wrong choices and losing both time and money on your investment. Before you hire a realtor, know the right questions to ask to save you time and money. Industry experts have prepared a free special report called "How to Sell a House that Didn't Sell" which educates you on the issues involved. the Pet Sounds album, and was bookended by a repertoire of some of the Beach Boys’ greatest hits, including “Help Me Rhonda”, “California Girls”, “I Get Around” and “Surfin’ USA”. And what was so remarkable about the sound quality is that the entire ensemble managed to echo the original sounds of each song (especially “Good Vibrations” and most of the Pet Sounds tracks, which were originally recorded using multi-layered musical and vocal tracks that would have made it difficult to reproduce on a live show). Basically, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine offered a constantly entertaining and unforgettable evening that was a living testament to the Beach Boys’ (and Brian Wilson’s) enduring contribution to the world of rock music. And jazz festival organizers are not resting on their laurels for long. Meesrs. Dupont, Menard and Saulnier announced that plans are already underway for the 38th edition of the festival – which runs from June 29 to July 8, 2017 – that will coincide with the Montreal 375th and Canada 150th anniversary celebrations.

The festival ended with the presentation of West Trainz at the Place des Festivals that same Saturday night. I enjoyed two more of the concerts, one featuring Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba with Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, and Armando Gola, the Volcan Trio. With a magnificent fusion of jazz and Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms, the group delighted an audience fond of the Latin warmth but also curious about how the Cuban approach to jazz brings some new elements. very bold coyote on the West Island is approaching, chasing, and perhaps even biting people according to numerous Facebook postings. The problem seems to be caused by someone feeding the wild coyote, causing it to lose its fear of humans. “The residents of Kirkland are not just worried about the coyote sightings. They are worried because the coyote bit someone. My husband heard screaming late one night. When he looked out the window the coyote was circling 2 women walking their dogs. He ran out and using a hockey stick to keep him away. The coyote kept circling around, he wouldn't leave. He was after the smallest dog and was not bothered by the bigger dog,” wrote Marisa Garofalo

Chilton. “If my husband hadn't intervened one family would be minus one pet! My son and I witnessed the coyote chase two people out of the woods. He comes right up to people walking their dogs. The coyote is very bold and THIS is why the residents of Kirkland want something done about it.

Each Sudoku puzzle consists of a 9x9 grid that has been subdivided into nine smaller grids of 3x3 squares. To solve the puzzle each row, column and box must contain each of the numbers 1 to 9. Puzzles come in three grades: easy, medium and difficult. Answer is on Page 21.

Not just because he's been spotted in the distance. I'm concerned that he's been spotted at Harris Park where there is a splash pad and small children. Now I'd also like to add that if someone's dog bit someone, he'd be evaluated by a vet and possibly put down. We have a very bold predator in our midst and nobody wants to do anything about it.” Many people laugh when they hear of coyotes around Montreal, associating such creatures with Road Runner cartoons. But this dog-like creature has expanded

rapidly in range in recent decades, now extending from Alaska to Central America and east into southern Quebec and the island of Newfoundland according to the Newfoundland government and Wikipedia. This rapid expansion of coyote range followed the decline of wolves, which coyotes have now replaced in many areas as the top predator. Coyotes are also adapting well to urban areas with one coyote being captured in New York’s Central Park in 2006 and estimates put the number of coyotes in urban

Chicago at 2,000. Unlike wolves, which typically hunt in packs, coyotes more commonly hunt alone or in pairs. To see a live coyote, you can go to the Ecomuseum Zoo in Sainte Anne de Bellevue. Staff at the Ecomuseum admit, however, that coyotes can look a lot like the wolves with size being the main difference. Coyotes are typically 35 pounds whereas a wolf commonly weighs in about 90 pounds or more. But coyotes trapped on Ile Bizard in 2009 weighed up to 65 lbs. 010-013017

And comedy fans will get the chance to see Mark push the comedy envelope in his own inimitable way on two occasions at this year’s Just For Laughs festival: first as host of the Brit(ish) show at Club Soda on July 26 and 27, and then as part of the line-up of the Nathan Lane Showstoppers Gala on July 28. He has written eight novels since 2004 such as Bullet Points, Hotel Alpha, A LightHearted Look at Murder and Eleven (which is also available in North America), and has a new novel scheduled for publication this month. “The books are mostly humourous novels with a tragicomic twist to them and deal with subjects that I normally wouldn’t tackle in comedy,” he added. Watson is also a keen observer about the comedy scene in his native Britain, as well as in North America. While doing a Just For Laughs spring tour across Ontario, he noted that Canadian audiences have a similar sensibility than those of their British counterparts. “It’s a rather slightly gloomy sense of humour with a shade of gentleness and a slight underdog mentality,” he said. He also noted that over the last 10 years, there are far more stand-up comedians in Britain, and are regarding stand-up comedy more as a path towards getting their own TV series. “Comics in New York and Los Angeles are basically working for TV, and are finely honing their performances as a means of auditioning for Hollywood. This is true in the UK, but not to the same extent. British comedy has more of a sense of informality to it,” said Watson. When his Just For Laughs gigs are done, Watson will continue with his latest tour, called “I’m Not Here”, which he has performed in 65 shows so far across the UK. “I’m going to take it to Edinburgh, and then complete the tour by the end of the year,” he said. “After that, I am going to take a break, because I know I will be getting tired of the jokes by then!” For more information about the Brit(ish) show, the Nathan Lane Showstoppers Gala or any other Just For Laughs show, go to the festival’s website at: hahaha.com

Comiccon Mtl A pop culture festival

t is a phenomenon that cuts across age, ethnic, and language groups; I'm referring of course to the enthusiasm for popular culture. I was an avid reader of comic books in my childhood, a passion that I still keep, especially for some of the old classic characters. Fans of all forms of pop culture, from comic books to video games, TV shows, and movies of mass appeal, descended en masse at the Palais des Congrès from July 8 to 10 to enjoy the 8th edition of Comiccon Montreal. For those who wanted to buy old comic books, to witness the work of some of the celebrated artists who il-

Take our “Got Subluxation” health quiz and discover if you are a candidate for a spinal and neurological check-up! Sponsored

I

By Sima Goel D.C. mtltimes.ca

f you answer “YES” to any of these questions, you may be a candidate for a Chiropractic Subluxation check-up. Do you take pain relievers, antacids, tranquilizers or any other relief oriented medication regularly? Have you ever been in an accident or experienced a fall? Do you suffer from neck or back pain? Do you feel fatigued late in the day? Do you suffer from arthritis? Do you have chronic digestive problems? Do you have regular pain between the shoulder blades? Do you suffer from headaches or migraines regularly? Do you have chronic shoulder, hip, elbow or knee pain? Do you suffer from allergies, asthma or other breathing problems? Do you have insomnia or feel as if you don’t get enough sleep? Do you get a cold or flu more than twice a year? Are you often nervous or stressed-out? Do you have high blood pressure, heart disease, ulcers, colitis, or other stress related diseases? Do you experience stomach pain regularly? Do you suffer from sciatica? Do you wake up with aches and pains? Do you have numbness or tingling in the hands or feet? Do any of your health problems affect your work or family life?

or the cast that does the healing. You were born with an infinite “Inner Wisdom” programmed for optimal health and healing. This inner wisdom is housed by your nervous system, which acts as the messenger from your brain to every cell, tissue and organ in your body. Your nervous system sends billions of continual electrical impulses, keeping your body in a state of optimal function, health and continual healing. A symptom of pain is the body’s warning sign that something is terribly wrong. Since only 10% of your nervous system is dedicated towards pain, months and years of nervous system damage could occur before you realize that there is a problem. Much like high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer, you could be in a state of malfunction and disease before you feel a symptom. Medicine’s response is usually painkillers, anti-inflammatories, or muscle relaxants, which will mask the symptoms; often leaving the cause untouched. 24 moveable vertebrae within the spinal column protect your nervous system. Traumas, sport injuries,

poor posture, prolonged sitting…even the birth process can cause misalignments of your spinal vertebrae, called Subluxations. If subluxation is left uncorrected, it could lead to spinal decay, (Subluxation Degeneration) and years of unwanted health problems. Doctors of Chiropractic are the only trained professionals capable of detecting and correcting spinal subluxations, greatly improving the body’s ability to heal to its full potential. “Since I am under Chiropractic care, I have surpassed my goals beyond belief, both in the ways that I feel and perform. I highly recommend wellness care.” Patrick S. “I had so much pain in my back that I was certain I had an infection. No one could tell me what was wrong. Until I started my care with Dr. Goel, I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly I healed.” Dinah P.
