he Cap Nature Pierrefonds West project stands out at the environmental level, as all of its planned buildings and residences will be designed and built in compliance with the best practices in sustainable development, and all preliminary studies have met the requirements of both the City of Montreal and the ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC – “Ministry of Sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change”), including those relating to on-site rainwater management. Ssustainable balance between natural environment preservation and harmonious urban development

With the open house event to be held this Sunday as part of the Office de consultation publique de Montréal’s (OCPM) consultation process, the owner-developers of the Cap Nature Pierrefonds West project would like to underscore this innovative project’s benefits for the community. Specifically, it combines a sustainable solution to the West Island’s residential needs through the creation of an environmentally responsible neighbourhood and the preservation of 180 hectares of natural habitats, which will significantly contribute to the City of Montreal’s objective of designating 10% of its territory as protected areas.

Cap Nature Pierrefonds West is the fruit of a true partnership between five owner-developers and the City of Montreal, who have been actively collaborating since 2005 to design an innovative, eco- conscious project. very year on the third weekend of March, the Montreal Basketball League holds its own “Final Four” style playoff finals, like Montreal’s version of the NCAA tournament. The weekend is reserved only for the league’s four best teams from each age group. The playoffs are always a fast-paced thriller and this year was no different. For the Sun Youth Hornets basketball program all signs show that the program is healthy and doing well, occupying 4 out of 5 semi-final spots in the MBL AAA divisions, Quebec’s most competitive youth league. With three losses coming in the semi-finals; bantam boys 71-45 to PXKnights, midget boys 110-97 to Pagé and finally the juvenile boys 75-68 to PX-Knights, only the novice boys made the finals.

For the Novices this was their third consecutive championship appearance, winning the last two. Unfortunately the Hornets didn’t get the ending they were hoping for losing to the PX-Knights by a narrow margin. The future of Sun Youth’s basketball program looks extremely bright as all the boy’s teams made the playoffs; they showcased an enormous www.mtltimes.ca

amount of talent and competitiveness that will surely make them a force to be reckoned with this summer and next year in MBL season. The weekend concluded a wonderful winter season for the Sun Youth Hornets basketball program. The Hornets now begin to prepare for their summer season where kids will be given the chance to showcase their talents to NCAA Division I coaches in tournaments all across the United States.

11 Critical home inspection traps to be aware of weeks before listing your home for sale WEDNESDAY

March 29, 2017

MONTREAL - According to industry experts, there are over 33 physical problems that will come under scrutiny during a home inspection when your home is for sale. A new report has been prepared which identifies the eleven most common of these problems, and what you should know about them before you list your home for sale. Whether you own an old home or a brand new one, there are a number of things that can fall short of requirements during a home inspection. If not identified and dealt with, any of these 11 items could cost you dearly in terms of repair. That's why it's critical that you read this report before you list your home. If you wait until the building inspector flags these issues for you, you will almost certainly experience costly delays in the close of your home sale or, worse, turn

prospective buyers away altogether. In most cases, you can make a reasonable pre- inspection yourself if you know what you're looking for, and knowing what you're looking for can help you prevent little problems from growing into costly and unmanageable ones. To help home sellers deal with this issue before their homes are listed, a free report entitled "11 Things You Need to Know to Pass Your Home Inspection" has been compiled which explains the issues involved. To order a FREE Special Report, visit: www.montrealinspectionpitfalls.com Get your free special report NOW to learn how to ensure a home inspection doesn't cost you the sale of your home.

What do the Rolling Stones have to do with a Latino fest? Well the band took a successful tour through Latin America last year. That trip is documented in "Olé, Olé, Olé..." the opening movie

A festival with a Latino flavour

"This is a Festival that would please both, French and Englishspeaking Quebecers," said Roland Smith, Director of the Latin American Film Festival that this Friday has launched its 8th edition. The opening night featured an exclusive engagement in Montreal: a documentary on the Rolling Stones Latin American tour. Titled "Olé, Olé, Olé! A Trip across Latin America," this documentary directed by Paul Dugdale presents the band's early 2016 tour of Latin America which culminated with a massive free concert in Havana. The film is shown again this Saturday, April 1, at 6:30 p.m.

"X Quinientos" is a Canada-Colombia-Mexico co-production, directed by Juan Andres Arango, set in Mexico, Colombia, and Canada. It is a movie that tells three different stories featuring unrelated characters, but with a common predicament. The all need to make decisions while the options are few, and the risks are everywhere (April 2, 8:30 p.m., Spanish with French subtitles; and April 3, 6:30 p.m., Spanish with English subtitles). "El ADN del ceviche" ("Ceviche's DNA") is a documentary from Peru directed by Orlando Arriagada, featuring the history of this popular and typical Peruvian dish. "This film is a must for foodies" reads the description. (April 3, 8:30 p.m., April 4, 6:30 p.m., Spanish with English subtitles).

"El elefante desaparecido" ("The Vanished Elephant") is a Peru-Colombia-Spain co-production directed by Javier Fuentes-Leon. "Viewers looking for something beautifully surreal will find a well-executed, and—well, an ingenious spin on the mystery thriller." (April 7, 8:30 p.m., April 8, 6:30 p.m.). All shows are at the Cinema du Parc, 3575 Park Ave. (corner of Prince Arthur). For information about the festival visit www.cinemaduparc.com

"La voz en off" ("Voice Over") is directed by Cristian Jimenez (Chile). It shows the story of Sofia, a recently separated mother of two, also a vegan, who decides "to take a reversed veil of silence: no more cell phone, TV, internet or reading for a year." (April 4, 8:30 p.m., April 5, 6:30, Spanish with French subtitles).

"Hija de la laguna" ("Daughter of the Lake") is another film from Peru, directed by Ernesto Cabellos. Described as a movie in which "Landscape splendour, power struggle, faith and cultural heritage all mix"… It features the story of "Nélida, a young indigenous woman who witnesses the imminent disappearance of a lagoon in her land, a water body surrounded by the majestic Andes." (April 5, 8:30 p.m., April 6, 6:30 p.m., Spanish with English subtitles).

"Ixcanul" ("Volcano") is a movie from Guatemala, directed by Jayro Bustamante. I had the chance to see this film at last year's Toronto Film Festival, and I recommend it for its lyric narrative and the beautiful scenery. Maria, a 17-year-old girl, lives with her parents at the foot of a volcano in Guatemala. She is soon to marry Ignacio, who manages the coffee plantation, but she is in love with Pepe, a young worker who is preparing to seek a better life in the United States. This movie won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Festival in 2015. (April
