zuco says. Cameron's mother Chanel, stepfather Michael, grandfather (Papa) Don, great aunt Claire and great uncleTony were all there to cheer for Cameron at the cheque presentation ceremony at the Children's Hospital at the Glen. Cameron's father Anthony couldn't be there because of work commitments but the family was in contact with him during the ceremony sending pictures. "We're looking into a website for Cameron. She would like to have a lemonade stand this summer and put the earnings towards next year's donation," Nolan says. "She likes that the raffle is around her birthday and looks forward to doing it again next year when she turns 9." The Young Ambassadors Club encourages kids to think about asking for a donation on special occasions like a Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah. This approach obviously works because in 2016 the group raised a whopping $260,000. However, as the saying goes, it really is the thought that counts. "We want to emphasize that any occasion is an occasion to help sick kids get better and that the best gift is the gift of a long, healthy life," Pizzuco says.

Four years ago Cameron was diagnosed with Strabismus, a muscular eye condition affecting vision, commonly known as Crossed Eyes. The grade 2 student has been under the care of Dr. Khan at the Children's. "I had an operation on my eye. It helped me. I want to help other people," Cameron says. She is recovering nicely from her surgery and no longer has to wear an eye patch Mom Chanel Nolan says. Cameron has donated her birthday money two years in a row on top of the money raised by her own special fundraising efforts. "Once they are ready to deliver their cheques, we invite them to a cheque presentation," Pizzuco says. The prop cheque is then posted on the group's website and the children and their families are encouraged to share it on Facebook. "We recognize and thank the Young Ambassadors by hosting an event in the spring." The event includes fun activities like a magic show, puppet show, photo booth, arts and crafts and of course loot bags! This spring the Foundation prepared a booklet explaining how the donations were used to help patients and listed all the names of the Young Ambassadors. "We also included a badge we encourage them to wear on their school bags so that their friends could ask about our program," Piz-

MONTREAL - According to industry experts, there are over 33 physical problems that will come under scrutiny during a home inspection when your home is for sale. A new report has been prepared which identifies the eleven most common of these problems, and what you should know about them before you list your home for sale. Whether you own an old home or a brand new one, there are a number of things that can fall short of requirements during a home inspection. If not identified and dealt with, any of these 11 items could cost you dearly in terms of repair. That's why it's critical that you read this report before you list your home. If you wait until the building inspector flags these issues for you, you will almost certainly experience costly delays in the close of your home sale or, worse, turn

West Island Community Shares charity tournament has another successful drive

O

n June 13th, the business community united to make West Island Community Shares’ annual charity golf tournament a success. The tournament, held at the Beaconsfield Golf Club, raised $53,000. Pfizer Canada led the way as the main partner of the event. Other partners included TELUS (BBQ lunch); Roxboro Excavation (flags); the Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel (Volunteer Meals), Sport Specialists-Dorval (Champagne Toast) and Brecon Foods (Putting Contest). “Thank you to all our event partners, guests and volunteers who contributed to the success of the tournament,” said Leanne Bayer, Executive Director. “When everyone comes together in support of our community, we can achieve great things.” West Island Community Shares raises funds for 41 local community groups including the Association Québécoise de la Voile Adaptée (AQVA). The group helps people with physical handicaps enjoy the freedom of sailing. During

the tournament dinner, 17-year-old Daniel HouldLovretin, who has cerebral palsy, thanked West Island Community Shares and its donors for supporting AQVA. He joked with The Beat 92.5 Masters of Ceremony Paul Awad and Sam Lupovich (Stuntman Sam), that the only thing he would enjoy more than sailing is a career in radio. He ended on a more serious note, saying that thanks to AQVA he sees no disability, only ability. The golfers enjoyed perfect golfing weather as well as food and drink offered by other event partners including 40 Westt Steakhouse, Iceberg Vodka, La Maison Verte Restaurant, Tazza di Matina, Zonin Wines and Pâtisserie St-Martin. West Island Community Shares is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and has set its fundraising goal at $1.3 million. Of all the special events planned, Martini’s evening on an Old Port rooftop terrace is a success worth mentioning: Terrazza Martini. First, a bit of background about the hosts.

The name ‘Frank Williams’ has bounced around the world of racing since the 1960s, as he set himself up as an industry expert. Williams is a Formula One team and engineering company that was founded by a dedicated Frank Williams and British engineer Patrick Head. Since its foundation in 1977, Williams has won 16 FIA Formula

One World Championship titles: 9 from the Constructors’ Championship, and 7 from the Drivers’ Championship. Thoughts of Formula One racing don’t typically link to Italian winemakers. Except in the case of MARTINI. MARTINI is the iconic brand behind delicious Italian sparkling wines and aromatic vermouths. These wines originate from Turin, Italy, where the MARTINI brand was founded in 1863. The MARTINI brand has sponsored the world of motorsports since 1968. They are the first ever non-motorsport brand to be involved in racing. Their ties to racing are almost as strong as their ties to Turin. Terrazza Martini: an impressive evening above the city.

More than 300 people gathered at Williams Martini Racing’s F1 event, Terrazza Martini, on Saturday, June 10. The evening included Italian fare served alongside fresh-popped MARTINI bubbles, a high-profile guest list, and DJ Philgood spinning throughout the evening. It was the must-attend party in Montreal’s Old Port of the Grand Prix weekend. The terrace of the William Gray hotel played host for the event. The Old Montreal location combined with classic French luxury service and amenities set high standards for the evening. The building itself dates to the 18th century, and the exterior has hardly changed over the years. The inside, of course, has been redesigned with modern touches that preserve the history of the building. A glass tower was installed above the historic buildings. Contemporary design complemented by local art in light-filled, open guest rooms and event spaces. The rooftop terrace offered panoramic views of the city. It was the perfect backdrop for a high-class Grand Prix party—something guests will only find at a boutique venue like William Gray. www.mtltimes.ca WEDNESDAY

The much anticipated event attracted celebrities including Yanic Truesedale, Éric Salvail, Joey Scarpellino, Valérie Carpentier, PO Beaodin, Jonathan Roy. Yet another seal of approval.

William Gray served the food for the evening, exceeding their own high standards. Given MARTINI’s lengthy list of thirstquenching alcoholic beverages, there was no shortage of cocktails at the event. The suggested cocktails included the MARTINI Pina and MARTINI Tonic. The MARTINI Pina mixed Rosso and pineapple juice for a tart, yet slightly sweet, option; A MARTINI Tonic paired Rosso or Bianco Vermouth with tonic and lime. Cocktails weren’t the only star of the Saturday. Who doesn’t love a little bubbly? MARTINI Prosecco was served at the event, celebrating their recent launch in Quebec.

Originally, only sweet and dry vermouths existed. However, keeping up with demand for Were you at Terrazza Martini? Let us know their drinks, botanicals were been used to flavour these fortified wines: extra-dry white, what you thought of the night! www.mtltimes.ca 21 WEDNESDAY
