The invention simplified traditional chronograph movements by removing the automatic reset to zero and allowing users to measure only short time windows. It was therefore dubbed the “Faux Chronograph”.

The demand for chronograph-style watches at an affordable price made this model a commercial success: 21 million of these legendary calibers were sold.
