It is made up of 6 municipalities (jalpan de serra, san joaquin, landa de matamoros, pinal de amoles, peĂąamiller, arroyo seco) and has 2 magical towns: jalpan and san joaquĂn. 3. Between its high crests and deep valleys, 2,308 species of plants have been recorded; 341 birds, between residents and migrants; 110 mammals; 134 kinds of reptiles and amphibians and 800 different species of butterflies. The butterflies require slowing down on the walk, but you can watch the birds once you hit the road. 4. The heights of the sierra vary as much as their landscapes, they go up to 3,160 meters above sea level.

In the museum there is a wide collection of photographs, archaeological pieces and objects of daily use that show the natural and historical wealth of the region. > Jalpan Dam, where you can practice water activities, fishing, bird watching.
> Tancama, a Mesoamerican settlement of the Huasteca culture, consisting of three uneven plazas that simulate the shape of a hill, the burials found in the pyramids reveal that this site had a ceremonial and astronomical function. > Typical gastronomy of the Sierra. The “Huapango Cathedral” is a town with exuberant forest landscapes, waterfalls and caves. Besides the constructions and pictorial vestiges, the mining deserves a special mention in the Mesoamerican history of San Joaquín, named Magical Town in the year 2015.
You can visit: > Campo Alegre National Park is a vast forest area ideal for rural lunches and the enjoyment of nature. It has grills, lighting, showers and huts. > Ranas is an archaeological site, located at the top of two hills. > Gruta Los Herrera, is a grotto with innumerable formations of stalactites and stalagmites. It is a geological formation around 100 million years old. > Museo Arqueológico y Minero, installed on the top floor of the Municipal Library building.

Santiago de Querétaro has two bus terminals (the south and the north on 5 de Febrero Avenue ) that have several national and local lines with connection to the entire Mexican Republic. The approximate travel times to nearby cities are: Mexico City (3h), Guadalajara (4.5h), San Miguel de Allende (1h), Guanajuato (2h), San Luis Potosí (2.5 h).

The climate of Querétaro is as varied as its geography. In the central valleys (Santiago de Querétaro, Corregidora, San Juan del Río and its surroundings), the climate is mild and quite pleasant most of the year. The temperature ranges between 16º and 22ºC.
Boutique hotels Old colonial mansions of the historical center of santiago de querétaro are now small and elegant boutique hotels.
In the prairies (Amealco, Huimilpan and the south of San Juan del Río), the climate is a little cooler. The temperature fluctuates between 14º and 16ºC. In the semi desert (Cadereyta, Tolimán and Peñamiller), the climate is dry, with temperatures ranging between 18º and 21ºC.
