Since 2003 Matthew Willman has worked as commissioned photographer to The Nelson Mandela Foundation. The private nature of his work with Mr Mandela has ensured that the works have been kept under close guard and away from public use.
For the first time ever and with kind permission & support from The Nelson Mandela Foundation we are proud to announce a very special book, the first of its kind, which reveals to the world images and stories from out Matthew Willman’s commission with Nelson Mandela.
“We called him Madiba” is a 10 year journey documenting and archiving the intimate and detailed life of a man we celebrate as a father figure, a man we had the privilege of calling ‘Madiba’. Many of the images are unique behind the scenes photos taken whilst working around Madiba that together with internationally celebrated works is a wonderful insight of Matthew Willman’s experiences over the years.
