GRANGE SCHOOL STUDENTS SING THEIR HEARTS OUT AT AJIS CHORAL FESTIVAL 2023

King’s School Junior pupils staged a spectacular production of ‘Matilda’ to a packed audience of parents and teachers. This classic tale of an extraordinary little girl who develops telekinetic powers has wowed global audiences for decades. Its popularity was wonderfully evoked by King’s young Year 6 actors, who played to hugely appreciative audiences with gusto, rapidly moving from quick fire comedy to lyrical ballad and a fabulous finale. The production had 70 Year 6 pupils on stage and, as Ms. Costanda, who directed the production, said, was a masterpiece of logistics: “It is a complicated show, with many songs and Tim Minchin’s wordy, literary lyrics all delivered at a pace. The meticulous teaching of the songs by our talented Music Director Paul Vowles, enabled the children to learn every song, with accuracy. The children will cherish these memories for years to come.” W: www.kingsmac.co.uk

St David’s College is a mainstream co-educational independent school for children aged 9 to 19 years old. Their award-winning school is set in a 30acre Tudor Estate, nestled between Snowdonia National Park and the North Wales coastline. Snowdonia is their classroom, their theatre, their playground, and their lifeblood. Their aim is a simple one - to create a unique wholeperson education centred on the individual, built on Christian principles, and embedded in a family atmosphere. Taking a “whole person” approach, allows them to find the true gifts of every individual and tailor pupils’ education accordingly. For more information, please get in touch or visit them online. Children in Year 6 took part in the annual AJIS Music Festival Choir Competition held at Bury Grammar School. Eight schools with pupils from Years 4 to 6 took to the stage to perform and the standard was incredibly high. The choir began with ‘One in a Million’ by Emily Barden followed by a cheery rendition of ‘If I Only Had a Brain’ taken from the Wizard of Oz. Their efforts paid off and after some deliberation the choir were announced as the 2022-23 winners and took home the coveted AJIS Choral Shield. Well done to everybody who took part!
