Hello, I am a third year Urban Planning student at the University of Cincinnati. Currently, I reside in the City of Cincinnati (Prior to the COVID pandemic); however, I am a native to the City of Detroit. Growing up in Detroit has become a large part of who I am and has heavily influenced my interests in Urban Planning. Growing up in a city that is predominantly African American with a high poverty rate gives me a unique perspective that I do not think many people in this field have the privilege of having. Prior to studying Urban Planning, I studied Architecture at a local community college due to a spark of interest in building restoration/ preservation. This interest in Architecture peaked while growing up in the City of Detroit during The Great Recession in 2008. Many of the neighborhoods in Detroit began to see a significant influx of home foreclosures, abandoned homes, and dilapidated properties. It was then that I realized my passion to not only maintain, but also enhance, the beauty and quality of life which Detroit, and other Rust Belt cities like it, had to offer. It also helped me realize that Architecture was not what I was truly passionate about. My focus on planning began after taking interest in Zoning Codes and Ordinances. I was fascinated by the requirements and details that went into development. Soon, I realized that Urban Planning was a vast field which overlapped in various other fields. After taking a few courses I began to realize that the reason Urban Planning captures me is because it also encompasses my values to improve equity, quality of life, and improving the strength of communities. My specialization interests include but not limited to Urban Design, Housing and Community Development, and Comprehensive/ Long Range Planning. However, no matter what specialization I decide to go into I would like to emphasize the importance of public outreach and community engagement.

East End Resiliency Plan East End, Cincinnati, Ohio Introduction
As a summer studio project, The East End was analyzed to better understand the neighborhood. The following is a simplified version of a semester long group project that explores analysis of existing conditions and the recommended strategies for the site which is prone to flooding and is expecting to be further impacted by climate change.
8
Existing Conditions Analysis Media(s): Sketchup, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop This typology is located in the center of East End and has a wider area yet steeper slope. This area displays residential being pushed away and zoning open space within the flood zone. The building footprint is more organic and based on infill due to the drastic and steep topography.
Columbia Pkwy. Gladstone Ave. Riverside Dr.
More dense than other areas, mainly because the hill has been utilized.
FIGURE GROUND
Site is more sloped overall, rather than sharp contrast between flat and hill.
TOPOGRAPHY
The lower portion is vulnerable to flooding.
FLOODPLAIN/LANDSLIDE
Lots of vacancies and park space. Strong redevelopment potenial.
LAND USE/VACANCY
9
Schematic Plan The existing site which is majority single family homes and LeBlond Community Center located along Riverside Drive and single family homes along Gladstone Avenue. In order to increase density, add housing diversity, and accessible commercial for residents in the center of East End. In order to do this, changing the land use of the homes located along Riverside Drive to accommodate mixeduse development. Next, relocating LeBlond Community Center from the flood prone riverfront location to a more appropriate area and transforming the land to active open green space. Finally, converting the tracks which will no longer be in use after the Fulton Place redevelopment to pedestrian trails which connect to the riverside trail.
Proposed Site Creating a mixed-use center for residents whom are located miles away from any commercial activity. The units proposed include single family which already exist along Gladstone but also adding apartments which range from Studios to 3 Bedrooms. Units within study area adjusted from roughly 60 units to 200 units. Green infrastructure such as rain gardens, bioswales, and permeable pavement implemented throughout. Amenities include connectivities to two trails, commercial within walking distance, and activated open space.

Neighborhood Analysis
Over-The-Rhine, Cincinnati, Ohio Introduction
As a semester long focus, Over-The-Rhine was analzyed to better understand the neighborhood. The following is simplified version of the booklet “Represent the Neighborhood: Over-The-Rhine”, which explores the evolution of one person’s perspective after data collection, observation, and analysis.

Observing the Neighborhood
Each member of the group was asked to observe a certain area of Over-The-Rhine that was distinctively different from each other. So, opposed to the dense areas that are located further south of OTR, the north most parts of OTR is a lot denser with single-use lots, which made it a great area of observation compared to the areas south of Liberty Street. This area has been impacted most by the population decline and manifests that by the scarce and scattered lots depicted in the Figure Ground Map and 3D Sketchup Model.

Campus Analysis
This analytical map is based on the human senses that you experience while on the site. This theme depicts how much each element (topography, vegetation, and building footprint) impacts the visibility of each space by serving as a physical boundary, limiting visibility, or block light from one space to another which could make a space seem smaller.
