Resilient Yard Series: Make and Paint Rain Barrel Workshop

Create a resilient yard to sustain the Red River by making your own compost tumbler. In addition to building your own compost tumbler to take home, this workshop includes a presentation to learn the basics of composting and how to construct various composting systems. Come prepared to carry home an empty 55-gallon compost tumbler. Fee includes supplies. Bring drill (corded or cordless) and 1/8”, 3/8”, and 5/32” bit to class if you have them. Instructors will have several drills and bits for participants to share.

Participants need a drill to install the rain barrel at home. Fee includes all other supplies.

Resilient Yard Series: Pollinator Gardening Workshop

Learn how to transform a section of your yard into a native garden that will attract pollinators. This two-day workshop is designed for beginners and focuses on what constitutes a pollinator habitat, the importance of landscaping with native plants, and the process of installing a garden from start to finish. A select number of native plants will be discussed. Participants will leave with the beginning of their design plan and a pollinatorfriendly kit to get started. The second evening is held outside at a pollinator garden in Moorhead where participants can practice identifying plants. Fee includes kit.
