A Fishy Tale

Okehampton, the gateway to Dartmoor, boasts a very special restaurant.

Over many years Graylings, the family run business, has acquired a well deserved reputation for quality.

Graylings famous Fish & Chips was first established in 1994 in North Tawton, then in 1999 the second takeaway opened in Fremington, North Devon and in 2018 our third, Okehampton, outlet opened.

Now a brand new addition to the Graylings empire is our stunning restaurant above the well-established takeaway in Red Lion Yard.

The project, which has taken two years to get ready thanks to the pandemic, is now a beautiful, modern, light & airy space with views of the Red Lion yard and the edge of Dartmoor.

With full air conditioning and, more importantly at this time of year, heated flooring, there’s nowhere better for a warm get together for some lovely freshly-cooked hot fish and chips - or maybe just a morning coffee with some locally-made cake, or a light lunch with a freshly cooked panini. .

Fancy a tipple? We are fully licensed, not only serving wine, but also Sam’s famous cider, Bays crafted lager and beer, Plymouth Gin and Riddestone Dew spring water - to name a few local businesses we support. Something sweet? We serve Salcombe dairy ice cream, Luscombe soft drinks and Cheeky Moo milkshakes. We really do try to cater for everyone, so have a special gluten-free menu on Mondays when you can enjoy our fish and chips in a light crispy gluten-free batter or our homemade fishcakes with a choice of sides.

So whether it’s a mid-shopping break or a treat night out you’re after, you’ll find us the perfect spot - and you’ll be very welcome!
