Circuit Breaker

New technologie with PCB
World record! 521g with 16 circuit breakers distributing 150 Amps
10
N New concept: The concept of “do it yourself” circuit breaker panel is based on FASTON circuit breakers and a generic PCB carrying 16 CBs that you can duplicate (if several bus bars are needed or if more breakers are needed). N Advantages: - Retarded circuit breaker rating definition - Several standard feeder connectors and distribution connectors - Quick electric integration - Reduced maintenance cost
N Customize yourself: By using accessories (spacers, power studs...), you can easily configure and modify your power distribution: add/ change a circuit breaker, add a bus bar... Nothing is definitive! N World record With this technology, Crouzet has developped the lightest extractible circuit breaker panel in the world.

Light, Simple, Safe
Flying lead connection
N Light: Our single phase EN2495 and MIL MS33201 V compliant model is the lightest in the world (<20g with screws, washers and nut). N Simple: - Designed to be reused several times, spare components are not required - Can sometimes be used as a switch (within the defined endurance limits), they therefore perform a dual function of switching and protecting N Safe: - Our intrinsic safety1 (Fail safe) and trip free2 conception enable a high level of safety (above 10-6 FH) - The temperature compensation ensures high performance over a wide temperature range (usually -55°C to +125°C) - Excellent resistance to mechanical stress - High current level peeks and high current flows tolerance
Wide range of terminals Accessories
Depending on your need, Crouzet provides 4 types of terminals: FASTON, MS3320, EN & MS26574.
1 Intrinsic safety: the Circuit Breaker has been designed with a fuse element to ensure that the electric circuit is opened in the extreme case of stuck or soldered contacts. 2 Trip free: even if the pushbutton is maintained in a closed position, the opening of the contacts (and therefore the electric circuit) is ensured. Solid State
Circuit Breakers 4 MCU size
2 MCU size
All-in-one solution... Using the most recent solid state technology, Crouzet has developped new generic Solid State Circuit Breakers (SSCB) combining a microcontroller and a switch. Clustered into a Stand alone Power Distribution Unit (SPDU), the SSCB replaces several LRUs, simpliďŹ es electrical distribution, reduces weight and maintenance costs. Two SPDUs are available, one for 28 VDC applications, the other for 115 VAC (360...800 Hz) applications.
...for most applications... SSCB provides more than a thermal protection. Its role encompasses the following electric functions: relay, gradator, chopper, ground fault... Such functions can be used for light dimming, motor speed control, soft start, intermittent load command (on/off), fuel tank protection...

Stand alone
Power Distribution Unit ARINC chair
Plug, play & win: To mutualize packaging, thermal sink and power supplies of each SSCBs, Crouzet has clustered SSCBs on power boards and added communication. These boards are integrated in an ARINC 600 package creating Stand alone Power Distribution Units (SPDU). The 28 VDC SPDU contains 24 or 48 SSCBs. The 115 VAC variable frequency SPDU contains 12 SSCBs. N Fully customisable: Each SPDU is a slave device on the ARINC 429, RS485 or CAN Bus (to defined by customer). It receives and reacts accordingly to standardized orders. Modifications to the standard dialog can be performed and some hardware adaptions are possible. Software and hardware will be modified according to DO178B level B and DO254 respectively. N Wire simplification: When SPDUs are decentralized in an aircraft and when they are used in conjunction with a master board for load management, wiring length and wire gage are reduced (thus reducing weight).

Arc Fault
Circuit Breakers Single pole AFCB
Single pole AFCB
Arc fault technology is targeted towards EWIS1 protection, Carbon Composite protection and enhanced Fuel tank Protection N How do AFCBs work? Arc Fault Circuit Breakers combine the safety of standard circuit breakers and high accuracy electronics to mitigate arcing. Each standard thermal circuit breaker is equipped with an electronic board that analyzes the current waveform in real time to detect arcing. N EWIS protection: The new FAA Part 25 subpart H requirements asks aircraft OEM to consider EWIS as a system. This means that the airworthiness of the wiring must be guaranteed for the complete lifetime of the aircraft. By incorporating AFCBs your aircraft will be compliant to this new rule.
1 EWIS: Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems
14
N Carbon Composite protection: Carbon composite (CFRP) is vulnerable to arcing. The use of AFCB will mitigate damages and smoke hazard on CRFP material. N Enhanced Fuel tank Protection Traditional Ground Fault Interrupters (GFI) measure current leakage to the airframe and open the line as soon as maximum current limit is detected by the current transformer. The weakness of the traditional GFI is that it does not capture line-to-line arcing and series arcing downstream of the breaker, the AGFCB (Arc and Ground Fault Circuit Breaker) does this thus going beyond s %!3! #3 "OOK !-# A FUEL TANK IGNITION PRECAUTIONS s &!! 0!24 !# " FUEL TANK IGNITION PRECAUTIONS N Compliant to AS5692A, AS6019, ARD5568

Three phase AGFCB
N Why use GFI circuit breakers? Following SFAR88 recommendation (after Swissair 111 and TWA 800 incidents), the FAA and EASA have compelled PART 25 aircrafts to protect fuel tanks with Ground Fault Interrupters. GFI products mitigate fuel tank ignition by reducing the amount of leakage current to the airframe inside the fuel tank. N What about people? In addition to fuel tank protection, the increasing presence of higher voltages in the passenger area (115 VAC) - for instance in business class current outlets - has brought Crouzet to develop circuit breaker protecting from electrocution (the leakage current to detect is then around 30 mA).

Customised configuration
25 years ago, in conjunction with Eurocopter’s customers, Crouzet designed a universal control grip with push buttons. Today, this grip is in use across the world, and its comfortable ergonomic shape is still preferred by pilots. Working in very close collaboration with your team, all the requirement such as weight, electrical function, space are taken into account.
