The American artist Jessica Jung on the cover-page of our Cannes Issue is wearing stunning haute couture gown by Maison Rami Kadi. Mr Rami helped us to make this cover page possible and especially thanks to the responsible fashion photographer, the talented Patrick Sawaya. Mr Patrick's series with Jessica Jung's red carpet appearence during the Opening Night of the Cannes Film Festival, (sponsored by Swiss Maison Chopard) epitomize the spirit of this extraordinary event. At Côte d'Azur where major international brands bring an certain air of exclusivity and even a great amount of good-will, I really hope that this will also come trough in the following pages, with our stories and focus on the ethical projects such as Natalia Vodianova's new philantrophy project "Charity Closets"; and open and personal interview with Shalini Passi the Founder of the Shalini Passi Art Foundation.

Paris - Shanghai The new collection of “Garden Of Impressionism”, mainly set with rose-cut diamonds and gemstones, with the greatest possible emphasis on the hues and lights, just like an Impressionist painting from the late 19th c., in Paris.

There are impressive vibrant creations like the “Pink maple leaf” a pair of earrings, “Smoky green lily of the valley” brooch (see image above), and “Coloured ginkgo leaf” brooch, and the large “Calla” ring. The first is an elegant set from Feng. J's latest collection, in 18K white gold setting with diamonds, emeralds and tourmalines, such as this massive ring, with light and emerald green precious stones intricately set with white diamonds and emeralds. Similar to the first Feng. J collection that was

launched by the high jewellery artist Feng. J in Paris as well, in her new collection she re-created this very special style to emphasize lights and hues of gems. For an example the rose cut diamonds are specially made-toorder from a German family atelier, in order to perfectly deliver the light reflecting properties in these stones. The new series of pieces were previewed by European collectors and celebrities.

Feng. J is the upcoming star designer of high jewellery from Mainland China. She was quoted by The New York Times, this March, in article titled, "China Starts Growing Its Own High Jewelry Designers". Next November Feng. J will participate at the next Protagonist Show curated by Vogue Italia, at the Salon of Art and Design in New York.

At the opening night of the 72nd Festival de Cannes, the American artist Jessica Jung (as featured in our cover-page) wowed in a white mirror and feather embellished gown by Maison Rami Kadi and stunning Maison Chopard's Haute Joaillerie creations Since its founding in the year 1860, Maison Chopard has perpetuated a heritage of artisanal skills and traditional crafts, with important element of ethics and even the use of sustainable gold.

Leona is a lady, always correct in her manners and civil, engaged in our talk with great enthusiasm, not just because we talk about her passion, the Foundation, but also because she genuinely has interest and emphaty towards others. Leona established the Foundation out of great compassion to children obviously, regardless of their social and economic background. Trough her dedicated work, the talented small ones get to perform at the greatest musical stages like the famous Großer Saal in Vienna.

MM: You are actively involved at prominent art and design events, across the globe, but how did you embrace world of art initially?

Shalini: "I Think that I have always had a sense of aesthetic appreciation; I used to paint when I was in school and while in college, and through this practice I learnt to think of artworks in terms of colour, form, and texture."

MM: You just attended charity event organized by Maison Christian Dior and Tiepolo Ball di Venezia what is it that fascinates you about Venice and Italy, and can you draw any parallels to India?

Shalini Passi the Founder and Director of the Shalini Passi Art Foundation Shalini Passi is recently joined by Dr. Arshiya Lokhandwala as curator of her Foundation. In this interview Shalini shares her dedications with the art foundation and online arts platform MASH.

halini Passi is the Founder and Director of the Shalini Passi Art Foundation, (SPAF) and of MASH (My Art Shalini) - the online arts platform that collapses the hierarchical distinctions between

architecture, art, craft, design, and fashion, by eliciting a rich discourse around creativity in modernity. Shalini - an established art collector and artist, who sits on the Advisory Board of Khoj since 2012 - is a Patron of FICA

as well as an important Patron of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Shalini Passi Art Foundation. is conceived as a unique initiative established to support, educate, and encourage innovative work in the arts; it will engage with art, crafts, design, and architecture - attempting to break the hierarchies that exist between them, and enable conversations and collaborations to take place.

Now with Dr. A. Lokhandwala as Foundation's curator.

Shalini: "Italy and India have much in common: we both possess a vibrant culture and we both celebrate our rich heritage - specifically, the traditions that continue to inform and influence contemporary arts practices today.

I am fascinated by the diversity of Italy's regional arts traditions, from glassblowing in Murano, to painting in Siena, architecture in Rome, and now fashion in Milan; this very much reminds me of India.

Here, we greatly value the legacy of craftspeople from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Varanasi - to name just a few.

It's so important to celebrate these distinct forms of cultural expression, and to find ways to keep them alive.

India and Italy also share a great history of arts patronage and giving.

While the recent recreation of the infamous Tiepolo Ball (known informally as the "party of the century") was a glamourous and opulent event, more importantly, it in was held in aid of an extremely important cause - the restoration of Venice’s architecture and cultural heritage."

MM: Collaborating as speaker at recently held India Art Fair 2019 and moderator of panel discussion at India Design ID 2019, what were the highlights from these fairs?Collaborating as speaker at recently held India Art Fair 2019 and moderator of panel discussion at India Design ID 2019, what were the highlights from these fairs?

Shalini: "For me, the highlight of this year's edition of India Art Fair was the introduction of the new performance art programme, which featured the artists Mithu Sen, Amol Patih, Sajan Mani, Sahej Rahal, and Yasmin Jahan Nupur. India Art Fair occupies an interesting space within the arts ecosystem in India as it hosts a broad range of visitors, many of whom may not visit traditional art spaces, such as museums, galleries and biennales; the fair therefore has a unique challenge - and opportunity - to present artists whose works are conceptually experimental and challenging, yet grounded in socio-cultural themes and topics that can be relevant to all of its visitors. Â This is one of the reasons I love performance art: it can exist outside these traditional spaces, and therefore makes art much more accessible. Earlier this year my foundation hosted an absurdist performance piece by Mithu Sen (which explored the theme "radical hospitality"), and an operatic performance (the first of its kind in India) by Meera George. It was a pleasure to work with talented and daring artists to create new experiential work for new audiences."

MM: The latest edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, which you contributed to in collaboration with the Kochi Biennale Foundation, was intensively covered in the media as the most socially significant yet. You also stated that the “Biennale is a good opportunity to share ideas and what we can do to give platform to more artists". Do you find that such curatorial visions are increasingly prioritized today?

Shalini: "Yes, I stand by that; biennales should be used as a platform to share ideas. In Ralph Rugoff's curation of 58th Venice Biennale, May You Live in Interesting Times, he only allowed the work of living artists to be exhibited - emphasising the importance of showcasing art that reacts to the times we are living in. These are complex times, with increasing political polarity and new forms and uses of media and technology; what Rugoff is doing through his curation of the biennale is experimenting with what it could mean for art to be an active part of society.

Could it change the course of the future? Could it propagate socially useful messages? I think that's a really interesting and exciting idea."

MM: What inspired you to establish the Shalini Passi Art Foundation, being a long-term patron and collector?

Shalini: "Over time, through my years as a collector and a patron, I have learned more about specific styles and movements in art, and I feel my appreciation has developed from that of a private collector to a committed stakeholder within the unique and dynamic contemporary Indian arts landscape. I started the Shalini Passi Art Foundation to channel this energy into an initiative that I hope will play a significant role in developing and promoting a contemporary Indian aesthetic, by giving a platform to young emerging artists and creating opportunities for them to experiment and expand their practice."

MM: Which are upcoming highlighted projects of Shalini Passi Art Foundation?

Shalini: "The Foundation has an ongoing lecture program with eminent speakers from a range of artistic disciplines, and we are currently planning a large-scale survey show to open at the end of the year. As with this year, the Foundation is hoping to participate in India Art Fair and in India Design ID again in February 2020."

MM: While Shalini Passi Art Foundation is dedicated to support emerging young artists, you have founded, MASH to hosts a monthly feature on selected artists and their work, how did you get inspired to highlight current artists at MASH? Shalini: "I set up MASH, my online arts platform, so that people can discover art, architecture, craft, design, and fashion from around the world - to give them greater exposure to different ways of thinking and styles of working, and hopefully spark new ideas! Through MASH we seek to promote artists who are pushing boundaries through experimental new work. Earlier this year we launched the MASH FICA Award for New Media Art, which recognises reflective, aesthetic and speculative projects at the intersection of art and technology. Amitesh Grover, the MASH FICA Awardee for 2019, plays with the boundaries between art, science, and capital in his project which looks at the intimate interaction between the body and technology in the age of institutional surveillance."

MM: Which art periods or pieces are your favourite at the moment?

Shalini: "I'm currently very interested in Art Nouveau: developed in the late 19th century, borne of a desire to create a new style that went beyond imitative historicism. This is very much aligned with my own artistic aspirations; I'm always seeking to discover and explore practices that break away from what has gone before. The style was influenced by the experiments with expressive line by the painters Paul Gauguin and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec,

but also partly inspired by the movement of the linear patterns of Japanese prints. Art Nouveau is about creating a fusion between structure and ornament; the organic line that characterised this style was employed across architecture, interior design, jewellery, glass design, posters, and illustration. This multidisciplinary approach to creativity -Â

- taking an idea and experimenting with it through different media - is still so relevant today, and something that I seek to promote through my online arts platform MASH."

MM: Do you experiment with art privately?

Alessandro: "Nowadays a lot of brands feel lost. Some of them, despite probably 100 years of heritage, decide they have to destroy everything in order to evolve. The problem relies on the fact that above all Italian companies are family run and when you involve all your relatives in your company thinking that this a good thing, you risk to have the opposite effect as no evolution is possible without a good level of experienced managers who come from diverse sectors. It takes a lot of courage and bright brain to face the new challenges."

Maison Dior and the Venetian Heritage Foundation cohosted their own version of Tiepolo Ball, celebrating the opening of the Venice Biennale 2019. Dior's opulent charity dinner will benefit the restoration of Venetian cultural heritage sites. Discerned guests, arriving from across the globe, were customized by two Venetian houses-Rubelli and Bevilacua-reviving the legendary lavish Tiepolo Ball, which became known as the “Party of the Century”, it was held in the same frescoed ballroom of Venice’s Palazzo Labia, (famed for its beautiful frescoes of Giambattista Tiepolo), Dior's opulent soiree, arranged by Maria Grazia Chiuri - so perfectly Italian, will not only help to preserve Venice's historic landmarks, but as the international jet-set arrived in boats on the city’s famous canals, the ball evoked key themes of this year's Venice Biennale too, namely the issues of open-borders and immigration.

urbiškio manor now welcomes discerned guests to the heart of most pristine and unspoilt Lithuanian park landscapes.

Beautifuly renovated, with the most recently completed renovational works and upgrades in the year 2015, Burbiškio Manor is an oasis of nature and peace, where elegance and luxury merges into one. The Manor dates back to the mid-19th century when it was built in 1853 by a noble polish family Venclovaviciai, and it still remains one of the most beautiful sites in Lithuania. Located in the regional park of Anykščiai, the stylish manor is a XIX century Architectural monument, the Neoclassical’s epochs pearl staggering and charming with subtlety and elegance.

It is surrounded by the astonishingly beautiful nature with over 30 different types of trees and floral species.

The manors ensemble was renovated according to the project in 1853; authentic ceiling and walls pictorials have been restored, original brown Ash doors, as well as, irreplaceable, decorated fireplaces remain to this day. One of many other fascinating interior decorations built in XIX century are the stoves pleated with white glazing panels, that can also be seen in such places as the Lithuanias Presidential palace.

Currently the manor attracts myriad amount of tourists due toÂ

its unique history established over many centuries.

A boutique hotel within the manor is now open, welcoming visitors to stay at exclusive rooms, giving them opportunity to be in touch with this historical architectural masterpiece. Weddings, business seminars, as well as, many other events are also being organised in the manor, throughout the year. Featured in the filming productions of Norwegian film-crew, each year the manor becomes a stage for annual filming on its scenic premisses.
