More to Life
OUR NATURAL
Way of Being Having worked with many indigenous cultures from around the
world and a practicing shaman with the bestowed honor as Highland Seer, Barbara Meiklejohn- Free says “embracing Shamanism is about reclaiming your legacy as a sacred wisdom keeper, and that we are ready to return to our natural way of being”.
Y
our whole reason for being is to develop awareness and growth of the potential within you. Shamanism - the way of harmony with all living things - works because it is balanced between all four realms - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It is an ongoing experience where we learn from those who have travelled before us and we are encouraged to guide and heal those who are in need, without judgment or expectations. Shamanism encompasses many things both practical and surreal, and can involve life enhancing rites and ceremonial work, but at its heart shamanism is the embodiment of our human abilities to nurture all life in order to come to a conscious understanding of creation.
Our surface personalities and the filter of pride mask our souls, distorting truth and inhibiting awareness and our ability to attune to the very essence of life. The journey to your sacred nature is threatening to your learned self. The fear and insecurity of facing truth often causes the false self to become rigid and defensive - its survival is at stake. To be enriched, we must make room for our blessings by releasing all the things that no longer serve us. Acknowledge fear and then step through it. Fear is nothing more than apprehension of the unknown which is a self-perpetuating cycle.
"we find the courage to face fear from our inner balance."
Deep within each of us there is a knowing - a remembering. We all know how to dance the sacred rhythms and know the healing lore from the times when plants, animals and minerals spoke. We have not lost our connection to the primal mysteries, we have merely forgotten. Modern society has not nurtured our remembrance yet it is still there deep within us as an archive from a time when the Sacred was approached with awe, reverence and deep connection. Living in line with the Natural World is not about consuming mind altering drugs, dancing deliriously about a fire, or sacrificing at an alter, as has become the popular portrayal of the 'role' of a Shaman. The Shaman is historically seen as any 'wise' or 'knowledgeable' person(s) within any community to whom others can turn for their well-being. But we each have the potential to release our 'shaman within', raising the bar for all humanity. Embracing shamanism is about reclaiming your legacy as a sacred wisdom keeper, bringing you back into harmony with our Earth as it is now.
Civilization has ignored Nature’s ways, including the natural part of ourselves called our soul. Collectively we are faced with the challenge of renewing culture and building a sustainable society. True culture curbs the cycles of destruction that civilization has brought. Humanity has a spiritual relationship with Earth and our world destruction represents spiritual blindness. We are totally dependent on the air, water and food producing capacity of its eco-system. Our ‘linear’ concept of history and time is now without the feedback loops of honouring our ancestors, so necessary to a sustainable system. We are pre-occupied with physical aspects to the exclusion of the metaphysical (intuition, heart-felt wisdom, relationship with the sacred) and depend on rationalism causing a collective and profound 'world imbalance’.
Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk
We find the courage to face fear from our inner balance. When we are standing in our sacred centre, we feel connected with something beyond ourselves. That connection and sense of support allows us to feel secure enough to release our old selves into the care of Great Spirit, Keeper of the Circle of Life.
Once we have stepped beyond fear, releasing is easy. With nothing more than conscious intent, we can approach our path with the humility and openness that typifies an empty bowl ready to receive. For some of us, beginning this journey with an empty bowl is not such a conscious process. We have reached a place of desperation. Old habits and patterns have blocked us so completely that we acutely feel the isolation from our sacred natures. We risk very little by stepping through our fears and have nothing to gain by defending our old selves. We may have sunk so low that our knees are already on the Earth and we are ready to get up and walk with its blessing in a sacred way. We are ready to return to our natural way of being...
Barbara Meiklejohn-Free now offers the most extensive Shamanic course available in the UK – WALKING THE SACRED WHEEL, THE SHAMAN WITHIN. To find out more visit www.spiritvisions.co.uk or email spiritvisions999@aol.com.

Racing Thoughts
The awesome power of the mind never ceases to amaze me. Just one
negative thought can trigger a whole raft of emotions that can quite literally have you on your back with the duvet over your head, clutching the rescue remedy for dear life. « Article By Mya G. Gleny

eep seated patterns of negative thinking over a long period of time can eventually lead to painful unwanted bodily conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue, and the indicators are that more serious disease can also be the result of long term unhappy thoughts.
in the way and confuses us. It restricts and stops us from moving forward. This is often because it trawls up some ancient memory and dangles it in front of our noses, reminding us how awful and disastrous it was last time. It might have been back in 1982, but your thoughts can make it seem completely fresh.
'do I honestly enjoy feeling down and dreadful?'
The first step is to notice the negative thought in the first place. Be the watcher of your own thinking. Observe yourself. Witness the event. Sounds a bit ‘out there’ but with practice you will notice a shift.
If the end result of all this worry and anxiety is nothing more than a pain filled body, why on earth do so many of us persist in these relentless efforts to torture ourselves? Our thoughts, when you come to think of it, should be something we are able to control. It’s not like we are trying to stop the rain from falling, or prevent night following day. We know in our hearts we can’t make people love us, or create an omelette without breaking a couple of eggs - but surely we must be able to choose what we think! Our out of control thinking, perversely, controls everything we do. It gets
Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk
Try stilling the mind and making a simple preference. Do I honestly enjoy feeling down and dreadful? Or do I prefer feeling lighthearted and upbeat? Does the thought of another day in the doldrums fill me with glee, or does it simply add to my despair? How do I want to spend my life, and how do I really want it to be? These things may sound obvious, but until you put your thinking under the spotlight, you may be unaware of how habitual this negativity has become. The guide to your thoughts is
always the emotions you are feeling. They tell you, better than anything, which way you are headed. A horrible sinking feeling is unlikely to be because you are excited and happy about your up and coming holiday. It is more likely to suggest you are already worrying about how much work you will have to do when you come home. Worrying about something in the future won’t change anything - it just spoils what you have today, and makes you feel bad, now.
'one negative thought can trigger a whole raft of emotions' Can we feel better – just like that? Probably not immediately, but the more you practice watching yourself - the things you say and the thoughts you have - the quicker you will be able to turn them around and ride off in another, happier, more joyful direction. A Different Kind of Dating Heartfelt, Fun & Spiritual
W
hy did I go to this one day Meetings Without Masks workshop at the Light Centre in Belgravia? Because recently, I’ve become too comfortable with being single. I’m happy – as in I have intimate, loving friends and an active creative practice, writing – but I wanted to get back into the river of male energy again in a less harsh way than internet or speed-dating.
"I’ve become too comfortable with being single" When I arrive in the reception area, I notice how relaxed the atmosphere is. These workshops are gender-balanced and there are about forty of us – mainly 30s and 40s – milling around chatting casually. Wonderfully, there is not an atmosphere of focused chatting up or sexuality. Perhaps, it helps that it’s a Sunday morning.
Already feeling lighter, we meet in a second mini-group where we are asked to talk about what we want in a relationship. The first man talks about wanting to prioritise a shared sense of humour, co-support and being able to express his feminine side. At my turn, I find myself saying I would like ‘easy love, not meaning casual but less tortuous’. I also talk about my son having a relationship, which I envy – and am aware I’ve been a positive influence – because his girlfriend and he are so co-creative and co-supportive. I feel tearful again as I speak. I’m happy for them, and in this workshop, I am also allowed to admit that I also feel some sadness for myself. In that I don’t have that kind of a relationship. After a few minutes of gentle dancing with the whole group, we are given a strawberry experience. An organic one! “Take in all its bumps, and its over-ripe bits,” says Jan, “and then I want you to really take in its smell and lick it, but don’t eat it.
The idea is to really spend time with this Jan – tall, friendly, open - who’s been a facilitator strawberry and eat it in the slowest possible for the past 10 years, gathers us together in a way. You will never have had such a strawberry circle upstairs, and explains that, in fact this experience in your entire life.” Finally, after is not a dating day. “It is a day where you can waiting and delighting, I bite into it and the explore what you would like in relationship,” she tiny sweet pieces explode with freshness in says, “”you might meet your future partner here, my mouth. f course, we are also eyeing one another up. I’ve already spotted a wavy-haired contender with a crinkly smile. And some great women. For me, this is not just about finding a man. Ten minutes later, Jan invites us to form a mini-group of two women and two Jan has an intention with this exercise. Jan also introduces the idea of appreciation cards, which we can fill in and leave in each other’s envelopes. She encourages us to write to as many people as possible. There are also cards where you can take more of a risk, and invite someone out for a coffee and leave your details. This is a little scary, because of course, they don’t have to respond. However, it is an invitation to step out of your comfort zone.
"I am a goddess and he is the god"
I
n these meetings, we get the choice of how close or distant we are. In words or silence. In dance or stillness. My first meeting is with the wavy-haired, groovy man that I felt drawn to initially. We dance together slowly gazing into each other’s eyes. He seems unafraid and totally present. We smile a lot. We sit and have a little conversation. He seems to have done a lot of tantra work. We hug. I feel totally appreciated and met by him. It’s a delight.
My other meetings are totally different. Just like strawberries. I dance playfully with one but we don’t really have anything to say to one another. I am a goddess and he is the god with another, which is sweet. Then, I ask another to hold me, and he does. Finally, I become a deer in the forest with the last one. We talk about life experiences and it’s fascinating how different each meeting is in its own delicious way. The whole group meets in the circle for the last time. There’s a surge of sadness, and then excitement as we say ‘goodbye’ and collect our envelopes. I try not to have any expectations, but am delighted when I see Mr Wavy Hair has left me his contact details. This has been such an open-hearted day without any dating pressure. Quite a feat. One man left me a message saying he loved ‘my wild exoticism’ and I am left with hope and inspiration with regards to future relationships.

Yoga
The Power
& Benefits of
The tradition of Yoga is thought to date back to at least 3000BC and has been practised
in India to promote physical and spiritual health for millennia. The pressures of modern life on individuals has seen increasing numbers of people practising a yoga lifestyle as an alternative, more peaceful and balanced way of living. Danielle Alys explains the powers and benefits of this ancient philosophy thriving in the 21st Century.
Y
oga is the union of mind, body and spirit and became popularised in the West during the 1960s by a number of gurus, spiritual leaders and philosophers who promoted all things Indian. Their approach to life appealed hugely to rock stars and other celebrities as it contrasted starkly with the materialistic approach that predominated in the West at the time. The search for alternative ways of life contributed to the growth of the hippy movement and many people travelled to India to enjoy the slow pace and peaceful way of life, although, the Eastern culture, such as yoga, meditation and spirituality, was not fully embraced and remained a mystery to the West for many years.
It regulates your breathing: proper breathing is essential
for a healthy life and the art of breathing or 'pranayama' (prana) means 'life force or energy' while (yama) means 'regulation of' is an integral part of yoga practice to be done daily. By focusing in on breathing practices, you learn to strengthen the breathing apparatus to gain control of the breath, to gain more energy when needed and calm yourself when overwhelmed or anxious. Medical research recognizes the dangers of poor breathing practices, which has over and above other risk factors for such ill health as asthma and high blood pressure. Yogic breathing is therefore one of the most effective and economical ways of treating disease and maintaining good health.
with regular practice, these aches and tensions in the body should be eased for good health otherwise disease will ensue. Unlike, other forms of exercise, yoga encourages stillness at the end of a practice, unique to yoga is a pose known as (savasana) 'corpse pose' relaxes you physically after your exertions, returns your heart rate, temperature and metabolic rate to normal, brings about a state of equilibrium in the body and calms the mind.
It exercises the mind: as yoga treats the mind and body in unison,
the practitioner needs to synchronise movements with breathing, stretching, supporting the body weight and as coordination are involved, different parts of the brain are switched on and off to facilitate these functions especially when engage core locks in the body (mullabandha, uddiyanabandha and Jalandhara), still the eyes (dristi)'gaze'. For balancing or inversion poses, you need a conscious mind, as in shoulder stand and headstand the person’s world is turned upside down. As yoga becomes a meditative practice, thoughts and distractions are suppressed to encourage stillness of mind and body.
"calm yourself when overwhelmed"
It increases your energy: Sporting activities include running and cycling tend to use up your reserves of energy, as opposed to the slow, controlled movements of yoga that when combined with effective breathing - which oxygenates the blood - actually help to generate and store energy in the body so we can enjoy our lives. It stretches and works most of the muscles in the body:
popular physical activities done often, tends to lead to an imbalance within the body that can lead to injuries; this is largely due to the over developed muscle groups, in particularly of the thighs, hamstrings, biceps and triceps and lack of intense stretching. Students of yoga know that as they progress through a sequence of (asanas) 'postures' with correct breathing into the physiological alignment they engage not only the large but also the small muscle groups in the body; it also leads to a more holistic experience where they become aware of the body's imbalances, strengthens and weaknesses to work on increasing flexibility and restrictions of limbs and range of movement of the spine.
It calms and de-stresses you: tension in the body needs to
It improves your posture: bad posture
is responsible for many health complaints, neck and shoulder problems, backache, and fatigue due to poor circulation, to mention a few. A physiotherapist, recommended yoga when treated by her, I having been involved in a car accident, injuring my lower back; other health professionals refer clients to yoga for long term care of body and mind, particularly for back problems, as yoga offers standing poses, forward and backward bends and twists sequentially arranged to maintain a healthy spine.
It is suitable for all ages and abilities: children who
practice yoga enjoy better health, discipline, temperament, behaviour, concentration, memory and stamina. It also improves their posture and general health from an early age; adults tend to be more keen on the more advanced methods of yoga such as - Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasaa and Bikram yoga while the elderly embrace traditional yoga to prevent many illnesses such as backache, weak muscle tone, balance and gaits disorders, fatigue and problems with blood pressure.
It is safe: competitive sports carry a high risk of injury to the
body, ranging from backache, sprains, stiffness and muscle strain to more serious problems such as torn cartilage, broken bones and slipped discs. The musculoskeletal system is better protected in yoga, under the guidance of a qualified yoga teacher, who will encourage a more steady and cautious approach to stretching and strengthening of joints so that you safely progress in your yoga practice.
be eased for the energy to move freely - the main focus of yoga. As a yoga therapist, I see many clients that have known for years that they have a recurring ache or stiffness in the body, for instance, of the neck, shoulders and wrists, they complain about the pain and discomfort but Yoga remains to grow in popularity and even extends to many famous do little or nothing on a daily basis to improve their situation, others celebrities including Madonna, Sting, Trudy Styler and Gwyneth Paltrow, might have known that one nostril remains partially blocked for years all endorsing the powers and benefits of this ancient philosophy. and accept this as normal for their life. It is usual for such individuals to look to yoga as an alternative way of improving their health, especially Danielle Alys is an “Ashtanga Yoga practitioner and teacher if later suffering from back pain, insomnia or stress. Angels ?
More to Life
Seven things you may not know about angels Lorna Byrne, author of international bestseller 'Angels in my Hair', 'Stairways to Heaven' and 'Message of Hope from the Angels' (Feb 2012) has been seeing and talking to angels since she was a baby, and considers them her best friends. Everyone has a Guardian angel. It doesn’t matter what religion you are, or whether you have no belief in God at all, you have a Guardian Angel. I see the light of everyone’s Guardian Angel behind them, and I have never seen anyone without one. Your Guardian Angel never leaves you. Not for a minute, it is with you from before you are conceived, and stays with you until after you are dead. I am often asked are they there when we are in the bathroom or making love. The answer is yes! They never leave us (and they are not embarrassed by things we might be). No matter how alone you may feel – you are never alone.
"all you have to do is ask" All you have to do is ask. You have been given free will, and an angel is not allowed to interfere with that. You need to ask your Guardian angel for help. Just ask, it’s as simple as that. It may only be once a year, but ask. Your Guardian Angel lets other angels and souls in to help you. Your Guardian Angel is the gatekeeper of your soul. It can let other spirits and angels in to help you. Whatever task or problem you have, there are teacher angels who can help you. Your Guardian Angel can also allow spirits of people who have passed to help you - perhaps the spirit of your Granny who has died. Your Guardian Angel can communicate with someone else’s Guardian Angel. Having a problem with someone? Nervous about meeting someone? Ask your Guardian Angel to have a word with his or her Guardian Angel.
The Odyssey of a Quiet Heart What people say about this book: “I started to read this book two days after the Tsunami hit Tohoku area of Japan. I couldn’t work from the shock I felt, nor couldn’t do anything to live a normal life because the grief was too deep. I just kept my eyes wide open to watch disaster on TV and the web. It let me down until I felt that I couldn’t hold on anymore. That’s when I found your book on my desk. It saved me. I think this book is valuable not because of the miracles in the story nor the guidance’s to make them happen, but the honesty of the author – Daisa. (Jun – Japan).” Daisa every blessing. You’re a real inspiration – am amazing woman. Helen (Scotland). “Daisa Morgan is a ‘way-shower’, someone who illuminates a path for others to follow. And the path she has forged, is the path of the soul. What makes her remarkable no matter how frightened she was, no matter how her heart may have been breaking, no matter how much pain she may have been in, she listened to the Voice of Divinity within and heeded the guidance offered. She kept going. This is the path of courage, the path of the soul.”Robert Schwartz Author: Your Soul’s Plan (Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life you Planned Before You were Born). What Daisa says,” When you yearn for an expansion of consciousness, when you ‘know’ there is something ‘more to life’ – sometimes you may hit the wall of confusion or uncertainty and can’t find the tools or ‘know-how’ to carry on. Perhaps this book will help to elevate and get you over and beyond your wall.”
"always ready to embrace you" Angels take on a human appearance to help us to understand a message. I see angels all the time, and they all look different – all unique but all magnificent. They may appear as a male or female, and seem to be able to change this at will. Some angels appear with wings, some not. They take on an appearance which helps the communication they want to give – so the Angel of Mothers Love, who I talk about in my book Angels in my hair, is round like the sun and enormous in size. Her wings are wrapped around her but opened out, a little like a mother hen. Her arms are always ready to embrace you in a big hug. Your Guardian Angel loves you, you’re precious to them, you’re their number one …they have to do everything they can for you, and they will. All you have to do is ask.

Funerals What a different place the UK is now, to where it was just 20 years
ago. Yes, death is still a taboo subject for most folk but as mourners attend increasingly memorable, unique and individual funerals, so the realisation of what is possible is spreading into the minds of many. « Article By Rosie Inman-Cook
T
here are two components to most funerals; the ceremony and the bluntly named ‘disposal’. These components may take place on the same day or they can be separate, one coming before or after the other. There are no rules and it is surprising to most people that there is little regulation regarding who takes care of the dead, nor how they are transported to their final resting place. With increased dissatisfaction at the sometimes impersonal and formal ‘traditional funeral’, some knowledgeable families are regaining control of how they bid farewell to their loved ones.
"regaining of control over the ceremony"
many. The suggestions and ideas put forward by celebrants, together with their support and encouragement for often exhausted, bewildered families in the aftermath of a death, offers a new type of ‘pastoral care’, and the resulting creativity and the ownership of the farewell to a loved one can be immensely healing for all involved. It is sad, but not everyone realises that they can have complete ownership and control of how they mourn their loss. The lip service of many funeral directors in providing choice and options is so often not followed up with information about what a family could actually do. Grieving families are frequently only too easily steered into accepting something that fits in with the company’s services on offer, rather than being empowered to create a ceremony fitting and suitable for themselves and their loved one.
In the UK, the recent spread of woodland or natural burial sites has increased the choices available for funerals. These sites also nurture an atmosphere of possibility, providing space and time to design and express the needs of either the deceased or the bereaved – or both. No longer do we have to accept that a twenty I have witnessed over 500 funerals, all different minute appraisal of a life at the crematorium and most, I hope, met the needs of both the is either respectful or spiritually satisfying families and others present on the day. "empowered to create a ceremony fitting for themselves." What most of these funerals achieved and have in common is the regaining of control over the ceremony and also possibly the funeral directing. Many also returned to the ancient tradition of interring grave goods. I have seen tankards, geodes, letters, bottles of alcohol, cups and saucers, wands, horseshoes, crystals, cigarettes, food, books, toys, all placed with the body of the person who died. I have seen essential oils poured and champagne sprinkled on the grave itself, and then many families choosing to backfill the grave themselves, all part of an empowered, spiritually and psychologically satisfying farewell. Many liken this to tucking their loved one up for the last time, a final personal rite that they can carry out. My enduring hope is that as more and more individual, unique and beautiful funeral ceremonies are created and attended around the country, the public will eventually realise that we can all have a better way of honouring and releasing our dead and the out dated, uptight and unsatisfactory funerals we are familiar with will become a thing of the past.

A matter of
Life & Death « Article By Moyra Irving
O
ne evening, five years ago, I went to visit my dearest friend, Bob. I had not seen him for a while although we had spoken the evening before. Unable to get any response when I rang the doorbell, I peered through the letter box. Candles were burning in the hallway and from his room came the familiar scent of incense and the sound of Van Morrison playing his favourite track. Finally I put a key in the lock and let myself in; it took me what seemed like minutes to walk the length of the little hallway. His bedroom door was open. I wondered if he might be sleeping and crept forward, afraid that I might disturb his rest, or worse still scare him to death. The room was dimly lit and the bed angled such that that I could only discern the back of his head and one arm, purple now, that had dropped to his side. It was an intimate moment – no tears, just a pause and a murmur (Oh, Bob …) as I reached for my mobile phone. I had anticipated this time for more than a year, even imagined letting myself in to his flat with a key he had given me for the purpose, for we both knew that he had only a short time to live and that, when the time came, I would be the one to find him. I remembered the evening he told me he was dying and my panic at the thought of life without him. I’d sat, studying the familiar figure – bald, overweight and virtually toothless - and had a powerful urge
to embrace him. I can’t ever let you go, I told myself. In the months that followed my visits grew less frequent. I withdrew a little in an attempt to prepare myself for the time ahead - something I have regretted ever since. It is strange how quickly we learn the protocol of death, notifying those who need to know: police, ambulance service, and of course friends and family, as well as those we may never have met. Within a week I had organized and officiated at his funeral, knowing that this was what he would have wished. And when it was all over I felt elated rather than tired, fuelled by the extra adrenaline that had kept me in a constant state of alert. As for grief, I rationalized his passing, happy that at last he had found freedom from pain and from the profound sense of loneliness that had dogged him all of his life. I felt calm and peaceful yet at the same time I was keeping very busy, hoping somehow to continue not just my own work but his too. Bob had been a powerful healer and guide and had often cautioned me about my need to relax. ‘Rest while you are working,’ he used to say, ‘and rest while you rest. It’s a matter of life and death.’ But I ignored his wise advice now and kept very busy, hoping that he would be proud of me.
"my panic at the thought of life without him" Then one day something inside me changed. The loss of my dearest friend was suddenly all too much and I became depressed and lethargic - and very fearful. I was obsessed by death but was as afraid of living as dying. It’s often said that time passes quickly when you’re having fun and I believed perversely that if I enjoyed my life too much it would be over all too soon. Sometimes our loved-ones are unable to contact and reassure us simply because our own feelings and fears create a barrier. Often contact is easier while we are asleep. Bob often used to tease me and even promised to visit me at night when he passed over. ‘Don’t you dare!’ I laughed and warned him that if he tried any funny business I’d kick him out of bed. Bob had been visiting my dreams for some time. . I would feel the skin on his arm, completely smooth since he’d had alopecia. Sometimes we had conversations about the work he was doing ‘on the other side.’
T
hen one night he entered that place between sleep and waking, just when I needed him most, when no-one else would do. He came in on a gust of air as I lay on my back, unable to sleep. I felt his cheek against mine and he kissed me lightly on the lips, something he’d never done in ‘real life.’ Then suddenly, all too soon, he went but he left me with the reassurance that life, his life, had not ended by any means. And neither had mine. His brief visit reminded me of three things I’d learned since knowing him:
Firstly, when things go wrong we say ‘this too will pass.’ But we need to remember that when things are going well, they will pass too for everything comes in cycles. Just the acceptance that sometimes things are not going to be perfect, that things are going to hurt, brings an element of reassurance. Everything that gives us pleasure is likely to bring us pain but on a positive note our own suffering also helps us to understand and care for others better. Secondly: Live your Life well and never try to please others at the expense of being true to your self. There is only one of you and like a snowflake you are beautifully unique. And lastly, be creative. Creativity is what delights the soul. When we cease to create we are no longer truly alive. Some months before he died Bob told me: ‘You must begin to prepare for old age.’ Now this surprised me a little. ‘You mean move the bed downstairs?’ I asked. He ignored my flippancy. ‘Apart from learning to live with your limitations, you have books to write. The experiences you’ve had – and will continue to have – will be an inspiration for others. Get writing!’

And, as you see, I did. I often feel Bob at my shoulder and have discussions with him on the meaning of life and the mystery of what lies beyond. Love is an eternal bond and we only need to think of the one we love to know that they are not lost but are right here with us. More to Life

How would you like to be
remembered? What would you like to happen at your funeral?
Apart from making decisions about the disposal of your body and those
other practical choices like where you would like to rest before the funeral, what coffin you want, what you want to be dressed in etc, many folk like to leave a 'wish list' of ideas for the type of send-off they would like. This can be very helpful to those left behind and gives family and friends confidence that they are making the right decisions. « Article By Rosie Inman-Cook

Who you would like to be invited? What are your spiritual beliefs? Who would you like to lead the ceremony? What music choices, hymns, text or poems to be read? Who would you like to read the eulogy, do you want others to be given the opportunity to speak? Is there anything you would like placed in the coffin with you? Have you made any recordings to be played at the funeral or letters to be read at the funeral or later on? Are there particular flowers you would like or ones you hate? Anything particular you would like draped over the coffin, do you want a gathering to be held before or after the ceremony? if so where and what sort of party could this be? Where would you like announcements to be made, would your prefer donations to be made to a charity rather than money spent on flowers, and if so, which one? Maybe you want a cremation without ceremony and a memorial service at a later date?

I never set out to be a filmmaker but the moment I first witnessed the awesome
mystery and beauty of the crop circles, everything changed. Somehow, the circles and their secrets filled me with a sense of wonder, of joy... and of hope. Above all, I was filled with the desire to share this incredible experience, with everyone, everywhere. So I became a filmmaker and made "What On Earth?" « Article By Suzanne Taylor

here's a breakthrough science story waiting to be made public. It's about an intelligence that has been visiting the Earth for perhaps thousands of years. It uses crop fields to make artworks. After some flurries of crop circle activity that go back to the 17th century, since the 1970s, when the circles came under consistent scrutiny, there have been more than 5,000 occurrences spread over about 50 countries. Southern England supplies the major canvas, where the phenomenon is worked with by people who come from all over the world every summer to study it and get information about it out to the world. The formations have been examined to the point where there are reports by science labs, published in scientific journals, which testify to sophisticated communications being sent by a non-human source. The science that has been done, however, has not been enough to crack a shell of skepticism that surrounds this paradigm changing phenomenon. Cultures typically resist any change to their fundamental ideas about their relationship with the universe, and the truth about this would be the biggest leap in our cosmology we ever will have made.
The formations are full of information, reflecting back to us things that show us there is mind involved with the deliveries. Many patterns depict symbols from mathematics, the sciences, and several of our spiritual traditions. And, whatever creates these designs knows geometry as well if not better than we do.
People have meditated on a shape and gotten designs that correspond to what they were thinking of. And, the mystery circlemakers have a winking sense of humor -- a TV crew mounted a several week watch on a popular field, and as soon as they left a formation appeared. During another watch a mist descended; when it lifted, with motion sensors having recorded nothing, there was a formation. Then, there are cases without access. Andrew Lloyd Weber, who was not pleased, had a circle behind the high walls on his guarded estate, and there was a formation in the heart of London at a botanical garden behind a high wall. Even if there were only a small chance to make a discovery that could be of such value, why would we not take it? Why would hoaxers go out, night after night, year after year, in fields all over the world, for no recognition and no money? Whose interests does it serve to deny the existence of other intelligence? Suzanne Taylor - Producer/Director “What On Earth? Inside the Crop Circle Mystery” www.CropCircleMovie.com
Another thing that’s noteworthy about the circles is the lay of the crop. In 1989, a turning point glyph made us give up the idea of a natural origin -- it was a circle divided into four quarters, with the lay in adjacent quarters going in opposite directions. Whirlwinds couldn’t do that! In some formations, the shafts of the plants flow like rivers around batches of standing crop, where other times several stalks are wrapped together and bundles of these are laid side by side. There must be a department in charge of centers of circles, which are done in many styles, from tightly woven tents and nests to tufts and splays. And sometimes the whole lay is atop another lay going in different directions. A basketweave style occasionally shows up, and there have been 3D effects, seen from the air when sunlight casts shadows. There also have been single circle marvels -- a face done in dot matrix (as in newsprint) and another in half tone (as on TV). And there have been a few messages where little squiggly tufts are translatable into binary code. There’s other evidence of non-human sources. In many formations, where stomping with boards would have pushed down every plant, single stalks are left standing. Sometimes it’s a stray plant of another kind, as if the force that lays the crop is tuned to a frequency that the invader plant does not have. And it’s common for stiff stalks -- even young pine trees – not to be broken but to be bent into right angles. Some glyphs are in hilly places, yet from the air the patterns are symmetrical as if a master surveyor had compensated for the irregular terrain. A startling thing that precludes people stomping with boards has occurred more than once, where the stalks have been bent several inches off the ground. Then, there are formations in fields with no tram lines, which are the pathways used by farm equipment to get to the crop and the way people walk into circles without doing visible damage to the grain. Another mystery is the occasional failure of electromagnetic equipment inside the formations: compasses, camera batteries, microphones. Sometimes cell phones don't work inside circles, but work just outside their edges. There have been occurrences that show us the makers can read minds. Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk

'the awesome mystery & beauty of the crop circles'
Crop Circles T he 2012 crop circle season in England is
almost upon us, what will it bring in this muchanticipated year? I’ve learnt over the years that its foolish to try and predict what will happen but this is a good time to reflect upon some of the lessons the circles have taught us to date. « Article By Glenn Broughton
O
ne function of the crop circles is to remind us of ancient wisdom. Their locations close by ancient sacred sites alerts us to this fact. If you visit crop circles or sacred sites over time, as I have done since 1992, you will be shown elements of this wisdom. Here are some of the points that keep being repeated by the Circlemakers.
Pay attention to the Avebury landscape: It’s impossible to study crop circles without reference to Avebury and vice versa. Once again, in 2010 the overwhelming majority of circles occurred close to Avebury. Of the 73 formations in England three quarters were within a 6 mile radius of Avebury and 90% were within a 12 mile radius. Avebury was the centre of Neolithic Britain and it sits (not quite) halfway along the famous St Michael leyline. The Chalkland in which Avebury nestles is underlain by the largest aquifer in Britain which is potentized by the powerful Michael and Mary earth energy currents. Silbury Hill and Merlin’s Mound were both built in the flood plain of the river Kennet, sacred springs abound in the area and the ditch at Avebury was designed to hold water. In fact every sacred site in the world is situated on top of underground water. So we can see that we are being told to: Pay attention to water: Neither crop circles nor sacred sites would exist without the presence of underground water. Research I did in the 1990’s showed that 94.6% of all crop circles occurred above underground water. Recent work by Dr Masaru Emoto in Japan has shown what homeopathy has always said – that water has a memory. We all know that crystals have memory; silicon chips mean that our computers and technological gadgets are basically crystal powered. The Avebury landscape is littered with quartz. I suggest that if quartz can be likened to computers then water can be likened to the internet – it has memory and it also has fluidity, which is communication. Our world needs to wake up to the importance of water and start treating it as the treasure that it truly is. ‘Off to one side’ is another lesson that can be seen in all genuine formations. The centre point of individual circles in crop formations is never the exact geometric centre, it’s always a little off to one side. I first noticed this over

ten years ago and I always check it out in any new formations I visit. The central flattened circles of Tawsmead Copse and Knoll Down formations in 2010 are clear examples of this. Likewise the energetic upwelling within stone circles, including Stonehenge and Avebury, is not at the geometric centre. The same applies to cathedrals, underground chambers and even pyramids; this appears to be an underlying principle of the universe. ‘We are powerful co-creators’: is one of the most important lessons the Circlemakers are showing us. Several times since 1997 we have led a group meditation putting out a request to the Circlemakers to create a crop circle. This almost always leads to a new circle appearing the next day that has features we can identify as being in answer to our request. The first time this happened was with a group of nineteen people, five of whom chose not to take part in the attempted ‘communication’ meditation – remember these numbers. Those who did stood in a crop circle in South Field at Alton Barnes and looked across to East Field for about ten minutes. We didn’t focus on a particular pattern because we wanted this to be a genuine attempt to open a ‘conversation’ with the ‘Circlemakers’; so we asked for a formation that would have something to teach us. The next morning at 9am we headed straight to East Field and there was a crop circle exactly where we had been focusing our attention to. The lay was the most beautiful of any I have experienced in nearly twenty years, flowing elegantly as if lain down by flowing water and it felt very energetic. It was impossible to make out the pattern from the ground so we flew over it in a small helicopter. At first sight I was disappointed as the pattern was incomplete and some of the circular lines weren’t perfect. However, looking at the aerial photograph later I was astonished– it was a flower of life pattern, that usually consists of nineteen overlapping circles, this one had five circles missing! And I believe the imperfection of the circular lines was telling us – you weren’t perfect in your communication, but try again, which we have done with similar results. The Three
Schools of Life “Thank you so much”… “You made me so happy”… “Don’t mention it”… “It was a pleasure”… are all phrases we use to express our gratitude and acknowledge another’s gratitude. They indicate that we believe someone else has done something that has ‘made’ us happy and that, for a few moments at least, ‘they’ are responsible for our pleasure and our happiness. But are they? « Article By Mike George
I
s anyone else ever responsible for our happiness, our peace of mind, our contentment, our joy? And if they were would that not make us responsible for the happiness or misery of others? And if that were true would that not make the world a slightly dangerous if not confusing place?
"to which school would you subscribe?" There are three schools of thought around such questions about who exactly is responsible for what we feel. One school, The School of Projection, says it is almost always the others presence and/or actions that ‘makes us’ feel happy and content or upset and grumpy. In this school we learn one of the BIG beliefs that currently run the world – ‘it’s not me, it’s them.’ The second school of thought, The School of Self Responsibility, says we are entirely 100% responsible for our feelings at any and every moment regardless of others actions or the circumstances. They would go as far as to say that even God cannot control our feelings, even God cannot ‘make us’ feel anything, and that if He or She could then there would not be the suffering that we see in the world today. Assuming of course the presence of a benevolent God! The third school of thought is The School of Resonance. They take the middle path. They would say that while we cannot ‘make’ anyone perceive or feel anything we can ‘influence’ the feelings of others. They would say that while we are ultimately the creators of all our thoughts and feelings we can be ‘influenced’ by others depending on their energy levels, or what we sometimes call ‘vibrations’.
The Meaning of Feeling
Before attempting to understanding the ‘understandings’ of each school it’s probably necessary to clarify the meaning of feeling. We tend to associate feeling only with the physical. Sensual feelings are stimulated through our physical senses. For most people the feeling of happiness is therefore connected to some form of stimulation or excitation through one of our physical senses. The ‘taste’ of a good chocolate cake, the ‘sight’ of our team winning, ‘listening’ to some inspiring music, are all forms of ‘stimulated happiness’. They are fleeting and transient and therefore not real happiness but an ‘excitation’ of the senses. Such sensual feelings come from outside in. Feelings of the non-physical kind, which we tend not to be so aware of, come from inside out. We can choose to be at peace and feel peaceful, we can choose to be contented and thereby feel one of the deepest forms of happiness, we can choose to be loving towards another and feel the love of our own benevolence as it extends outwards. These feelings are not stimulated but consciously created. But as long as we remain dependent on an outside source i.e. people, events and circumstances to generate our feelings (pleasant or unpleasant), we will not be able to exercise our inner choice. Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk
In the School of Projection we learn to blame others regardless of who they are, or even how far away they might be, for our angers, our fears and our sorrows i.e. our feelings of suffering. The idea that we may be responsible for our state of being, our attitude, our feelings and even our actions, has not yet occurred in our consciousness. Some, in the School of Projection, say that they do take responsibility for their actions but still blame others for what they feel. “You made me feel” is a frequent phrase they say to others. They may even say things like “I need you to (do this, say that etc)… as they express their neediness and dependency on others for their satisfactions. In the School of Projection that neediness and dependency is perceived to be perfectly valid.
The Early Lessons in Life
We tend to enter the School of Projection early in life when one or both our parents teach us that we are responsible for their feelings. “If you pass your exams, if you come home on time, if you wash the car well….I will be happy (and you will receive love in the form of approval from me). But if you fail, or you are late, or you leave unwashed areas on the car, I will be unhappy (and will withdraw my love for you). And so it was that the vast majority of us learned that we were responsible for our parent’s feelings! A great start to life!
"everyone demonstrates their dependency on some form of stimulation to be happy" That lesson, plus growing up in our highly sensual world where almost everyone demonstrates their dependency on some form of stimulation to be happy, and it was not long before we learned to believe that our happiness, that our ‘feelings’, come from outside in when, in truth, authentic happiness is an ‘inside job’. And so it was that the most frequent disease that would cause us to miss many happy days in the School of Life itself would become known as ‘victimitis’! It seems only a relative few enter the School of Self Responsibility simply because few are able to pass the entrance exam which isn’t so much an exam but more the implementation of a realization. It’s that moment that many speak of when they say, “I finally got it”, when they saw and fully realised, “It’s not them, it’s me”. Realising that we can be responsible for our feelings at all times is one thing, exercising that responsibility after a lifetime of conditioning to believe and behave in the opposite, is another. Ultimately it requires a shift in our awareness which includes ‘seeing’ that the ‘primary reality’ in life is within our own consciousness i.e. the self. And all that ‘stuff’ out there i.e. other people, state of the world, evolving events, chocolate cakes etc. is the secondary reality. Always a good example of the power that self responsibility can restore to our consciousness is Victor Frankls extreme but real life experience in his book Man’s Search for Meaning. Faced with the cruelest of deaths at the hands of some not very nice people he has a moment of enlightenment as he realizes that there is one thing no one can ever take away, regardless of the circumstances (his being a POW camp), and that is our ability to choose how we respond i.e. our perceptions, thoughts and feelings. Practicing self responsibility can however seem harsh. It can appear to give us permission to say and do anything we want, justified with an arrogance towards others that says, “Well if you don’t like it that’s your problem”. And a few do try this approach to life. There was a whole movement back in 70s and 80s that did just that. What they eventually realised however was that such an uncaring arrogance towards others ‘feelings’, regardless of how enlightened the ‘others’ were, would soon lose them most of their friends. Many also realised that such arrogance is primarily a violence towards one’s self, thereby sabotaging one’s own happiness. Some, within that movement, would come to realise there were deeper levels of enlightenment around the issue of self responsibility still undiscovered, including the spiritual laws that originate and live within the consciousness of each one of us. One such law is the law of love or the invisible ‘connection’ that exists between all beings. Any form of selfishness or ‘uncaringness’ is an attempt to ‘disconnect’ and thereby an attempt to break the law of love. The result is the same as any attempt to break any law at any level; there is always some form of mental or emotional discomfort.
The Presence of Being
If you have ever attended The School of Resonance you will already know that if you walk into any room when you are personally filled with anger, and in that room sits someone in a state of calm tranquility, you will eventually be influenced by their peaceful vibrations, by their energy, and start to calm down as you ‘resonate’ with them. There may be a few moments of increased discomfort as you notice your anger more acutely in the mirror of their peace. But eventually you won’t be able to stop yourself becoming more peaceful in their presence. Your state of being will naturally resonate with their state of being. It could of course happen the other way, in which case both are still at the School of Projection and they have not yet had their first lessons at the School of Self Responsibility! You can experiment with this and prove its truth almost every day. That’s why those who have attended the School of Resonance neither blame others for what they feel nor do they rail against those who would make the world a more peaceless and violent place. Graduates from the School of Resonance have understood that perhaps the world awaits the ‘presence’ of those who have realized their power to influence the state of others being, both nearby and from afar. As the old saying goes ‘by their actions and their attitude ye shall know them’! Or perhaps that could be more accurately expressed as ‘by their non-reactiveness and the calming influence of their vibrations they shall be known! If you ever meet such a being be sure to ‘hang out’ with them as much as possible! If you are such a being then school is over. Question: To which school would you send your children? Reflection: Why do we often ‘react’ so easily and project our feelings on to others and the world? Action: Experiment with the power of resonance at least once a day this coming week © Mike George 2010 www.relax.com

How Food
Affects Relationships It feels harder to live in the world today. Men are struggling to hold jobs that are rapidly changing or disappearing. Most women are in the workplace, only to come home and pull another shift on domestic duties. Divorce rates are still high and the number of women who are choosing to remain single has increased. Understanding the differences between men and women has never felt more important than now. « Article By John Gray, Ph.D.
How are you feeling today?
I
t's a question I like to ask the people each day at my seminars. Most people respond on that first day with "stressed," "tired," and even, "exhausted". They describe how they are waking up still tired, unable to think straight without caffeine in the morning, a high-carb breakfast, more caffeine at lunch, and another high-carb meal at dinner because they worked through lunch. They are desperate to feel the energy they once had, and, those in relationships, are desperate to feel the love they once had. Most think their stress and exhaustion is a result of their jobs, but it is more likely the result of what they eat. Every time you eat foods high in sugar and carbohydrates, your adrenal gland releases the hormone insulin to help move the excess sugar to the muscles, liver, and fat cells. This surge of insulin eventually pushes your blood sugar to below normal levels, so your adrenal gland releases the hormone cortisol to help raise your blood sugar.
excess abdominal weight, decreased immunity, lack of concentration, irritability, disrupted sleep, and, ultimately, a failing relationship. You can heal these hormonal imbalances by making small changes to your diet. I know changing what you eat will not make your life completely stress-free, but it’s a great place to start. Avoiding highcarbohydrate, high-sugar foods and caffeinated drinks is important. This doesn’t mean you have to give up your coffee drink in the morning, just make it a single espresso shot and not a triple vanilla latte. But when you eat and how you eat is just as important as what you eat. You should never allow yourself to get too hungry. Cortisol serves as a kind of moderator in making sure your blood sugar stays adequate between meals, especially during the night. You may not realize that your body is in constant need of energy, even as you sleep. Long periods without food make the adrenals work harder by requiring them to release more cortisol to keep your body functioning normally.
'understanding differences has never felt more important than now'
Cortisol is the stress hormone. It spikes during stressful situations. The lifesaver hormone. Adrenaline's little sister. Adrenaline helps you move fast. Cortisol helps you think fast. Cortisol gives firefighters the courage to run fearlessly into a burning building and run out safely. But cortisol also makes life feel stressful.
W
The adrenal gland is also responsible for producing testosterone and oxytocin. These hormones help to reduce stress in men and women. A man is drawn to situations that either release or rebuild testosterone. Testosterone is the hormone of desire. Problem solving releases testosterone. As a man acts, he feels competent and powerful. But soon thereafter, he needs to kick back and relax to rebuild his stores of testosterone. Take away either half of the cycle and I'll show you a man who is stressed out and probably not functioning very well. Women are drawn to situations that stimulate the release of oxytocin and help rebuild oxytocin. Oxytocin is the hormone of love. When a woman receives nurturing support, she is able to rebuild her oxytocin levels. As she shares herself in a nurturing situation, it releases oxytocin and her stress levels go down. This cycle of receiving loving support, then giving nurturing support to others is the natural way for a woman to cope in stressful situations.
It can also save your relationship. Since your adrenal gland doesn't have to spend so much time producing cortisol to keep your blood sugar balanced, it has time to produce more testosterone and oxytocin. When a man has higher testosterone levels, he feels more motivated, passionate and romantic. Similarly, when a woman has higher oxytocin levels, she feels happy, supported and in love. So instead of reaching for their coffee first thing in the morning, they reach for each other.
Our bodies are designed to handle stress very effectively, but not hour after hour, day after day. When your adrenal gland becomes so busy producing cortisol to balance out the excess sugar in your body, it can’t create enough testosterone in men and oxytocin in women. As the adrenal glands become increasingly compromised, you can end up with Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk
hen you eat also makes a difference. Cortisol has a natural cycle that works with your body clock. Normally, it begins to rise around 6:00 AM and reaches its highest peak around 8:00 AM. Throughout the day, cortisol gradually declines, with small upward bumps at meal times, in preparation for sleep at night. So eating three nutritious meals and two to three snacks that are welltimed throughout the day is one way to balance your blood sugar, keep your energy up and reduce your stress.

More to Life
Living your
Life in Love Imagine, just for a moment or two, that you are living the rest of
your life in love rather than fear and anxiety. When you are in love, everything is possible, so please don’t wait to fall in love once every ten years. « Article By Jason Chan
H
ow awesome would it be to fall in love every day? You do not need to meet a very special man or woman to fall in love. You can fall in love with a beautiful tree, a sunset, or a puppy that you pass by in the street. If you make a commitment to spend the rest of your life in love, perhaps at first you will only manage five minutes a day of being in love, and so alive, beautiful and full of confidence. Then, for the rest of the day, you will go back to being your normal, slightly anxious or irritated self. You can play safe and small for most of the time, but for just a few minutes every day please use the power of your mind to imagine that you are madly in love and feeling on top of the world.
"sharing unconditional love" Let your reason for getting out of bed every morning be that you are going to spend your day in love, and that you are going to extend love to everyone you meet. Let ‘living in love’ be the primary motivation for everything that you do. You go to work with the intention of loving the tasks that you do and the people with whom you do them. You come home from work with the intention of sharing unconditional love with your family, flat mates, or pets. Far too many people hate the work that they do and some even hate their whole lives. Too many individuals hold grudges against their loved-ones, and so do not extend love and gratitude to them on a daily basis. This is all really tragic, particularly when you realise that everyone has a choice: to live their lives in love and joy, or to live their lives in fear and misery. Unfortunately, not many people in our world know how to be truly loving and kind to themselves and others. I once asked a healing client of mine what she did to be kind to herself, and she did not even understand my question! She knew that she should be loving and kind to her family, but it actually had never occurred to her to be kind to herself. Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk
Far too many people still have to struggle too much in this world just to survive to have any energy left over for love and kindness. But those of us living in the UK are incredibly abundant compared to most people in the word, even as we go through this current recession, and so we really do not have a good excuse to be so grumpy and unloving on a daily basis. So please take a resolution today to begin cultivating loving kindness by being kind and loving to yourself. Don’t wait for a guardian angel to find you a parking spot; become your own guardian angel. Each day, do something to look after your physical body and your emotional well-being. Go to the park in your lunch break and sit and meditate under a tree for a few minutes, or do some gentle Chi Kung in a peaceful area of your home. Don’t wait to be happy until the perfect lover or job turns up: you will wait forever. Start by cultivating unconditional love and kindness towards yourself, regardless of your circumstances. We all make mistakes in life, but rather than beating yourself up when things go wrong, please take a vow to be kind and compassionate to yourself, even when you think that you have made a mess of some aspect of your life. Being kind to ourselves does not mean that we are self-indulgent or lazy. It simply means that we vow to become our own best friend and support ourselves unconditionally, even when we think that we may have done, or said, something rather stupid.
"vow to be happy regardless" As well as vowing to give yourself unconditional support at all times, you should also take a sincere vow to be happy regardless of what is going on in the world around you. Then do something on a daily basis to increase your sense of well-being. Don’t join everyone else by constantly moaning and groaning about your life. This in itself will simply depress you, and then your depressed energy will attract more depressive events into your life.
Some people live their whole lives complaining loudly about their lot and doing virtually nothing to change it. Even if a perfect opportunity comes along to improve their lives they won’t take it. They will say ‘Yes, but...’ For example they will tell you, ‘I know that I should take up some kind of exercise for my health and well-being, but I just do not have the time/money/energy to do it.’
"put the effort into changing" In this world, challenging events do just keep happening, but you always have a choice as to how you interpret whatever is happening to you. You can choose to be a victim of the external world and insist ‘They did this to me. They are the cause of my unhappiness’. Or you can be very brave and accept that your unhappiness is created by your own mind, no-one else’s. Once you acknowledge this, you always have a genuine choice: to stay miserable or to put the effort into changing your own mind over and over again, until being happy becomes your default mechanism. Is this easy to do? Not at all, but you are so worth it! We are all here to love one another, not to fear or to hate. Yet very few human beings have yet attained an advanced state of consciousness in which they are dwelling in love and extending love 24/7. In fact, these individuals are as rare as morning stars in our world! But just because very, very few of us are yet dwelling in love, and nothing but love, all of the time, is no excuse for the rest of us not to aspire to this incredible state of consciousness. Will it take us a long time and a lot of effort to get there? Yes! Will it be worth it? Without a shadow of a doubt Yes!! In fact, I can assure you that the very future of our world depends on it. Dream Visitations Dream visitations are one of the many ways in which our loved
ones who have passed away, show us that they are OK and are in fact not dead. When we ‘die’ it is just as they say “the stepping out of one room and stepping into another.” « Article By Aurora Brierley
W
e have more than one body; we have a physical, mental, emotional and astral body, also known as the spiritual body. In death, it is the shedding of our physical body that takes place. It is scientifically proven that every living, breathing thing on earth is energy, and energy cannot be destroyed. Therefore WE cannot be destroyed. When we shed our physical body it is an experience that feels like a breath of fresh air. There is no pain involved.
"calm and receptive to loving energies" What are dream visitations? Dream visitations are an amazing thing to experience and many of us have. If you’ve encountered one, you’d be aware that they are not like an ordinary ‘dream’. It is where a loved one who has passed recently or not so recently use the time that we are asleep and dreaming to pop into our subconscious and spend time with us, perhaps talk to us and let us know that they are ok. When we are asleep we do not have thoughts of the day running through our head, it is the one time we are calm and receptive to these loving energies. Many times throughout the day our loved ones may have tried to make their presence known to you by little signs such as; • a breeze which we feel upon our face yet there is no breeze • a feeling of a cobweb across our face or hands yet no cobweb being there • a song that was one of their favourites being played on the radio that you just happened to put on just as it was beginning • a favourite scent of theirs that we dismiss as coincidence
Some times you know what is happening, you are aware that you’re dreaming, and you consciously know that they are dead. You may visit the spirit world, or you may just visit a lovely place that meant something to you both. Personally I don’t think it matters where you go as long as you’re with them.
I
have personally been lucky to have experienced this 3 times. One night, when I had just begun to experiment with all things spiritual, it was a time in my life when I was just so eager to learn all I could; I had a dream visitation from my Nan. I shall never forget this dream. I remember holding my Nan’s hand and we were travelling through a white light and then were in a library, now known to me as the Halls of Learning. I remember thinking that it was typical and very thoughtful of my Nan to take me to a library in the spirit world as I have always loved books and have so many of them. I remember looking at a row of books and seeing a spirit body looking in another aisle, the spirit appeared to have been looking at me as though I really shouldn’t have been there. My Nan showed me books that I already had and then some that I didn’t. I picked one up and began reading, even though it was in a symbolic language, I understood perfectly. When I awoke from this dream I could remember nothing that I’d read….well not consciously anyway.
"just begun to experiment with all things spiritual"
That was a very detailed account of the type of experience you can receive. Many of you may be lucky to have one that detailed and wonderful which I hope you have. However There are many ways in which our loved ones there are the shortest type of dream visitation try to communicate with us, yet like a busy and this is my personal experience of a phone line, they just couldn’t get through. visitation that didn’t need a word to be said. So when you are rested and asleep, when you’re receptive to sensitive energies your It was just a few weeks after my Dad had loved ones make use of that time and a dream passed to spirit and I knew that although he visitation occurs. It is said that spirit never had returned to us through a medium to say waste energy, and I believe this to be true, that he was ok; my Mum wouldn’t be settled so they wouldn’t waste any opportunity to until one of us had seen him. I was asleep and I remember seeing this white light and communicate with the ones they love. How do I know if I’m having a dream visitation? appearing from it was my Dad wearing a royal 36
blue gown, no exact words were spoken but a thought was received by me from him that said “I’ve got to the other side OK, everything is fine, and I’m being healed now”. His gown then changed from royal blue to white, which to me seemed to say that the healing had taken place. He had passed with terminal cancer that we were unaware of so to us it had seemed sudden. I told my mum of this and it seemed to comfort her…although she did wish that he had visited her. I explained that maybe she wasn’t quite ready and that in time he would. Which he has done so.
Ways to invite your loved ones into your dreams There are not ways in which you can make this happen but there are ways in which you can invite your loved ones to contact you this way. Here are my top tips; Good old fashioned asking; ask your loved ones either in your mind or spoken verbally to visit you in your dreams. It may also be a good idea to ask them to help you to be open to the experience Write them a letter; write a letter to your loved ones. Tell them how you feel, how much you miss them, also any questions you have for them as they may be able to answer these in the dream. Light a candle; light a small white candle before going to bed, and ask that the flame be a guiding beacon light to your loved ones and help guide them to your dreams Use a crystal; place a crystal underneath your pillow that will help to enhance the dream state, and help you to remember the dream. Good crystals to use for this purpose are; prehnite, jade, red jasper, apache tear, and angelite. It may take longer than just one night to have a dream visitation, as there are many things we have to learn when we go back home to the spirit world but persevere and one day you’ll get there. Just have faith and love within your heart and remember, your loved ones are not ‘dead’. Aurora Brierley is a psychic and medium that works with Angels, Faeries, and the Spirit world.

Solar Flares The affect on Humanity Recently, we have been experiencing the after affects of yet another
X class solar flare which has affected all of us on many levels.I have been receiving many emails from people around the world with comments on the symptomology they are all encountering. « Article By Heather Carlini.
I
am including the following information so you can understand what is happening on an inner level as we are going to be experiencing many of these extremely high vibrational energies over the coming year. Something new is happening within us and within the larger nervous system of the world. Changes occur in our nervous system when our bodies are infused with cosmic solar light energy. Our nervous system is a highway for energy impulses that travel to our brain through both the chakra and the meridian energy systems.
"our nervous system goes into fight or flight" Through the process of taking on more light, our nervous system is being rebuilt, widened, and strengthened to accommodate an increase in informatic conscious data. When we face an experience that is out of the norm, for which we have no point of reference, our nervous system goes into fight or flight energy causing anxiety, and when it becomes overloaded it tends to shut down causing exhaustion. The two nervous systems (the sympathetic and the parasympathetic) are activated at this time. This is what many have been experiencing since July 28th since we are taking on much higher energies than our bodies have ever experienced before. 38
On the other hand, this intensification of energies can simultaneously trigger inspired action and profound enlightenment with inner knowing about things we were not privy to in the past. Many are receiving downloads of information to help them in dream state at night.
T
hey are shown patterns of behaviour that they need to change, or beliefs that no longer connect with who they are today. Some of the dreams are about things that will happen in the future.NThese downloads are forms of Soul communication that we need to pay attention to. Often these dreams provide us with bits and pieces of information, and it is important to keep a diary so we can put the information together to form the full picture of what the Soul is trying to tell us. An example of this is a dream that I had one night that kept mentioning the term “mitochondria antidote” for which I had no idea of the meaning since I had never heard that term before. I asked my Soul to give me more clarity in another dream. I was shown that we are releasing emotional toxins at this time and they are clouding over the mitochondria, which is the energy producing part of the cell. When we are releasing heavy amounts of toxins we feel exhausted because we can’t produce energy.
It ends us that the answer to this problem is the antidote...which is Omega3 that we all need to take as we go through the shift. As the solar flare activity increases on the sun, blocks in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies are magnified. The (emotional) blocks are lower frequency energy and the higher frequency energies from the solar flares are causing the unexpressed emotions to surface.
"begin to fully understand who we are" The body may process these higher frequencies through intense emotions, dreams, body pain, flu-like symptoms, nausea, anxiety, itchy skin, headaches etc. Each part of the body where we hold our cellular memories is speaking its own unique body language through the symptomology of the non-conscious immune system asking for attention and healing.
W
e aren’t what happened to us — it is only what we experienced in this lifetime through all our life’s lessons. During the healing process, we begin to see all what we are not (victims) so we can begin to fully understand and become who we really are as a “Soul Essence” having an earthly experience. More to Life
We all signed up for this lifetime and our Soul is prepared to help us with this process if we first give it permission. Everything is intensified in order to enable us to take responsibility to create clarity of purpose and intent as we go through the healing process. Our Soul knows all about this shift and how to help us through the different stages if we only learn how to follow its direction through discernment of the information that we receive.
"where these intense emotions came from"
S
ometimes when we experience the solar energies, they will pulsate through us, often causing us to feel depressed, sad or angry. These episodes last for about twenty minutes and then the feelings dissipate. They leave us wondering where these intense emotions came from and why they don’t seem to relate to what we were going through just moments before they appeared. These emotions are the energetic content of our cellular memory imprints releasing things that happened in this lifetime, a past lifetime, or from our ancestral history. We don’t have to be aware of where they came from – just be grateful that past hurts are being released. The conscious mind isn’t aware of what is being released, but the Soul mind is in charge
Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk
of the emotional healing and we simply have to allow the healing to happen and to feel safe with the process. One indication that this is really happening is to think about something painful you experienced in the past. You will then notice that only the memory remains for your learning, but the emotional charge of the memory is gone. Yeah! Free therapy is being done on an inner level... don’t you just love it? As more of who we are unfolds, the past traumas are being released from the cellular memory patterns that steers us into the very situations that are left unresolved and unforgiven so we can process them and let them go. When we become tired of telling our “story” of victimization and betrayal, we can change our perceptions by looking at the story and reframing it in the present with our new understanding. This is how we raise our awareness through the conscious evolution that we are now experiencing. The ego wants us to always look back and blame others, while the Soul wants us to see through the eyes of the observer rather than the victim ... and the bigger picture is that we are much more than we ever imagined. We are Souls on a journey and we have inner codes of knowledge that are being awakened in our DNA to help us through this journey if we simply align with our Soul.
I
"the bigger picture is much more than we ever imagined"
t is time to let go of the daily dramas and heal elements of our past so we no longer carry these lower emotional frequencies in the body. When we are either living in the past or worrying about the future, we are no longer living in the present. Stay on the journey and calibrate to the guidance and discernment of your Soul that is trying to guide you. Remember it is very important to give your Soul permission to help you through this shift and then watch what happens - the synchronicities begin to line up and what you need is right there for you. The Empty Suits in the Workplace
In this demanding world, how many of us actually get out of bed on a Monday full
of the joys of Spring? Delighted to be off to work and relishing the anticipation of another rewarding day at the office? Or like so many people are you leaving your soul behind as you put the key in the car door? If your day isnt nourishing your soul and making your heart sing, have you considered perhaps it is time for some major life changes? « Article By Molly Harvey.
W
e are living in an era of workplace stress. The increasing competitiveness of the modern economy has rendered people slaves to their workplaces.
'many humans have become empty suits' An exhausted nation is trapped in a never ending rat race. Many humans have become empty suits leaving their souls at home only to come alive at the weekends. Are you one of the empty suits? Trapped by the fear of the bills, mortgage and monthly pay cheque and can be frequently heard saying in the workplace, some day I will..... I encourage you to make your some day today. Life is just one long moment and before you know it, that moment will be gone forever. As I work across the world as a Business Speaker and Writer, my opening lines at conferences begins by asking the audience three questions:
What are you doing?, Why are you living and working the way that you are?, What do you need to stop doing? I often see the shock on their faces, being asked to question their lives, choices and direction is very often not what they expect to hear. These women and men are very often driven by position and status. Those three questions are the ones all of us, no matter what our lives and career choices, need to ask ourselves on a regular basis if we are to work in an ethical and fulfilling way. How passionate are you on a scale of 1-10 about your current work?
Summer 2012 | www.moretolifemag.co.uk
I encourage you to pick a number, if you are below five on the scale, find a new job. Life is far too short to be miserable and stay on the current hamster wheel. If your score is six upwards, what one thing can and will you do over the next thirty days to bring more fun, joy and the uniqueness that is you to the workplace? Drop other people’s models of who you think you should be, I often say to people why be normal when you can be yourself. Too many people today paper over the cracks of their existence by being busy. The only person you impress at the end of your day with busyness is yourself. Life is not about being busy or working smart, life is about working right, whatever that is for you.
"how passionate are you about your current work?" As a nation too many of us have got caught up working ridiculous hours, having to keep acquiring the bigger house, new car and as a result having to neglect family, friends and dreams. Grab a piece of paper and a pen and write down this thought provoking question, what have you been dismissing in your life right now?
S
ometimes we set impossible standards for ourselves and in doing so we can miss out on so much love, fun and pleasure. When we live a life out of balance, only concentrating on one aspect, the drive to succeed is at the cost of all others.
'we set impossible standards for ourselves'
I
passionately believe that in the 21st Century, it’s time to bring our head, heart and belly brain to work. When we bring the three brains to the workplace we are more creative and productive, which in turn results in better profits and a rich working environment. What if you woke up every Monday morning and said thank God it’s Monday instead of saying Oh no not Monday...
How would your life be different? Most of us don’t stop to question what we are doing, we often feel like life has led us along certain paths and that is how we are and where we are today. Have you ever stopped to ask yourself what choices brought you to where you are today? Everything in your life is the result of choices you have made along the way either conscious or unconscious. What hopes and dreams do you have for the future? What possibilities lie within you and have yet to be explored and enjoyed? G i v e y o u r s e l f p e r m i s s i o n to s h i n e i n the workplace and through your own actions, beliefs and example others will shine too.

Reach Out To The
Hand Of Faith O
ut of the darkest and into the light. Vrinda Mehta explains why faith plays the leading part in spiritual practices and how you can develop faith to lead you to a more fulfilling life.
M
y friend, a recent graduate, said she ‘prayed quite some time ago for a new job and it’s been six months since her last prayer and still no sign of a new job,’ she said, ‘now she’s given up altogether.’ But through it all, my friend was engaged in feelings of helplessness and self doubt, I would listen as she talked about how it’s ‘no use,’ ‘the situation won’t improve’ and she ‘feels frustrated.’ Most people in this day and age are put off prayer for a number of reasons, for some its as simple as not having enough time but for the majority of us its to do with that same old question we ask ourselves, day in and day out, ‘why are my prayers never answered?’ What so many of us forget, including my dear friend, is there’s a difference between asking for something, believing with utmost confidence that it will happen and asking for something and fearing that it won’t happen. Faith has always played a key role in spiritual practices - from the traditional acts of prayer to the more modern practice of cosmic ordering. A colleague of mine said she ‘always attracted parking spaces by simply asking the universe and putting forward her order.’ She said she ‘believed that a parking space would be available and as if by magic there always was.’
H
owever, when she asked for a new relationship, this was a different matter and not quite so easy to manifest. She could not bring herself to believe that the right partner would turn up for her and many of her negative emotions were related to experiences of the past. It took eight months from the time she placed her wish, for a new man to come into her life. During this time, my colleague was involved in healing herself on an emotional level and immersing herself in Meditation and Yoga. These practices helped her to think more positively and develop self belief that she is worthy of the love of a great man. The result was, the type of man she ordered came into her life - she said ‘it was worth the wait.’ But had she displayed the same level of faith in empty car spaces as a new relationship, this man may have showed up much quicker. When we embark on a spiritual journey, some of us may notice results immediately. We feel happier, things come to us easily with less effort but for others it feels like there’s no change, life still feels an uphill struggle and things are not moving as they should. So what is the reason for this? Our level of faith and negative belief systems can have a huge impact in our ability to attract all the things we want. Faith can mean different things to each of us. Whichever context it is used, it all comes down to one word, trust. Can you trust the higher power, god or universe to get you through difficult times?
I
t’s so easy to get lost within the daily stresses and struggles of daily life and loose our faith along the way and yet that’s exactly what will assist us. With the constant doom and gloom reported in the media about the economic crisis and people moving through life in periods of uncertainty, it’s particularly important to hold onto faith. To believe with utmost certainty that whatever difficult situation we may find ourselves in, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we will get through. If we have faith that things will improve then they undoubtedly will. Fear has no place in spiritual development for it is only with faith and love that we can grow.

Deeply attentive, Listening, Contemplating, Dreaming, Reflecting, Travelling, Gazing, Meditating, Learning, Ruminating the Riches and wisdom the universe has to offer. I am guided here to bring my experience and share the treasures with you....
Dear Anni, A long standing romantic relationship came to an end for me over Christmas. I know it was for the best, for both me and my friend because that is what we had become... and that’s just it! I would still like a maintain the friendship but my friend wants it to be the way it was... I do feel responsible in a way because it should have ended sooner, but I didn’t have the courage to end it not wishing him to feel hurt or rejection. I feel responsible for this mess! What can I do?! Kelly – Newcastle
Q
Dear Kelly, In Gratitude of your sharing. I see that you are a deeply caring person and have looked at these experiences from many places within yourself, questioned your integrity and see others in loving regard... and now, you must do the same for yourself. This wonderful exercise will aid the healing that is intended, forgiveness for all. Light a candle for yourself, sit quietly not to be disturbed and close your eyes. In your mind’s eye see sitting beside you a bowl of gleaming white light so bright you can feel it through your closed eyes. Starting at the base chakra begin pulling away, any guilt, misplaced loyalties, self recriminations in the form of hooks and threads. As you pull them away, cast them into the bowl of gleaming white light, to be transmuted into unconditional love. When you feel as if you have cast enough away, scoop up some of the white light from the bowl & fill this chakra with light...filling any voids the hooks and threads may have made. Visit Chakra one by one; the base, sacral, solar, heart, throat, brow and crown... and repeat this exercise at each chakra, pulling and casting the hooks and threads into the bowl of light & then filling up the chakra with the gleaming white light of unconditional love from the bowl. Finishing at the crown. To complete this exercise, bring your awareness slowly back into yourself sitting. Feel the space around you and slowly open your eyes. Know that you have done this in love and light and healing for all and to clear the path for future friendship. Repeat this exercise whenever you feel the heaviness of recrimination or the arrows of blame or guilt from others.

The Muse
Dear Anni, 2011 was the worst year ever for me and I know for many others, personally I feel as if I have been put through the wringer! I’m 54, I love my work with Crystals and Reiki but over the last 12 months I have lost my job, my home, people I thought were friends and almost my mind! It seems each time I get up and dust myself off from one bad experience I am greeted with another weird Groundhog Day scenario. I try to stay positive and believe that everything happens for a reason but my moods have been getting the better of me lately and I get tearful easily. I ’ m t i r e d w i t h i t a l l a n d I a m finding it hard to let go. Can you help? Sara – Wigan
Q
Dear Sara As I sit here with your letter, what comes through most in the times of change is your willingness to carry on and move through what seems to be a long and hard road, but you must know your dreams and goals are just a little way around the corner. It was all about letting go!! The universe freeing you up for the next big adventure!

in so many ways and are in a year of completion being 54, ( 9 being the highest number ) now you own strength, courage, wisdom and you have maintained your sense of humour which is a great ally to you. Bach Flower Remedies are great to ease your emotions in the moments when the shock of these experiences creep in. Look into taking some supplements too which will combat the effects of stress... Coenzyme 10 and Vitamin D are staples for heart health and balancing energy levels. Use a quartz Faden crystal for balance and to help you maintain your vision and strengthen the connective force between you and the voice within... These crystals are masters of healing. Own the invaluable tools you have gathered in this journey and use them now for yourself first. Your whole being is in great change, you are becoming... Remember you are your own best friend. Know that you have freedom, freedom from all that which no longer serves you... You are free and have moved on, burned up karma and are completing a cycle and will soon look back at this as one of your greatest achievements. 47

March 21 - April 20
It seems that life has been ‘full-on’ and quite chaotic on so many levels of your life recently. You have been a true pioneer and courageous soul though; keeping on keeping on, and having faith that all ‘will be well’. However it seems that you have become so caught up in the struggle or the break for freedom that you have lost sight of the changes that are already happening; in fact, things seem to have shifted so much for you, that when you do pause for reflection over the coming weeks, you may be rather surprised at just how far you have come without even realising it! It is so easy to get caught up in the ebb and flow of life, and yet, despite this, you are continuing to make amazing progress along your path in life. So, the more conscious you become, the more you can embrace the energy of the positive shifts occurring in your life; imagine just how much you can actually achieve...
Taurus
April 21 - May 20
After a long period of slow shift and movement in your life, it’s time to place your seats in the upright position, to fasten your seatbelts and to get ready for the ride! The coming weeks look set to bring you a wave of new and inspirational energy which both inspires and empowers you to ‘up the pace’ in connection to your spiritual, energetic and creative pathways in life. As an earthy, practical soul, you have many ideas, but it can be hard for you to manifest them into reality for this can mean stepping into unchartered or unknown territory. Yet you seem ready for such a step now, for your heart is calling you towards something more, something deeper in your life. You are great at biding your time and waiting for the right moment, and only you can know how strongly you feel the urge for shift, but it seems important to honour this by either embracing it or by putting it to rest. Inner struggle is exhausting, so make peace with your Self now...
Gemini
May 21 - June 21
As you continue to seek out truth, balance, knowing and understanding, it seems that you are now beginning to gain a clearer sense of what’s next in your life. You have searched high and low, near and far for more meaning to your life, and whilst you now have a good understanding, there is still a sense that you haven’t yet found all of the answers. Yet finding all the answers before you have lived your life seems unlikely, for your whole life is about learning and evolution. If you get all the answers now, what happens next? A new set of questions no doubt! So, rather than waiting until you ‘know it all’ before taking a huge leap forwards in life, perhaps you need to have faith in your Self, and use your myriad of talents and skills to learn as you go? Life is for living now and it seems that the time has come for you to fully celebrate your own magnificence and begin to taste the sweetness of a life fully lived...
Cancer
June 22 - July 22
You have been rattling along the high speed train link of life towards pastures new for quite some time now. Although you know that you are heading in a new direction, you do not seem quite sure where or what that it. At the same time, you are now beginning to feel rather comfortable on the train itself, as it feels safe and warm, and you can enjoy the view without ever getting off! However, whilst this may give you some reassurance, deep down you know that this isn’t enough for you. You seem ready to disembark soon, to step onto a new platform or phase of your life, and to let the train hurtle off as you begin to forge the next part of your journey your Self. This may feel daunting, but it is also empowering and life affirming for your life is in your hands, and you have the chance now to prove to yourself that you absolutely ‘have what it takes’ to succeed...

July 23 - August 23
As the energy continues to build and grow in your life, you are continuing to re-connect to your Truth, your power and your passion on all levels of your Being. In many ways you have been ‘lost’ over recent weeks and months, for you have not been your usual strong, assertive and confident Self, and yet part of you knows that this can sometimes be bravado on your part, for you are a lion and lions are meant to roar! It seems clear that you can feel caught between expressing how you truly feel and expressing what you feel you should feel. The latter comes from trying to keep others happy, which is admirable, but it seems to be tying you up in knots. The time has come for you to re-connect to your own passion and strength, and to realise that speaking your Truth is so important now, for how can you make others happy if you are not happy in yourself? Let go of those ‘ought’s (change their dynamic) and let your inner lion roar...
Virgo
August 24 - September 22
As an expert at keeping busy, you always seem to have something to do in life! This is not only productive, but it keeps your mind active. Yet, to be so busy so much of the time does not give you space or room to breathe, reflect and ponder your life, and it seems that at some level you actively trying to remain busy to avoid the ‘quiet moments’. Why could this be? Are you simply too busy to deal with the ‘distraction’ of quiet time, or could it be that if you delved into the quiet time that you would see that by being busy you are avoiding facing some major decisions and choices about your life and path ahead? You are at a crossroads, and however hard you work at keeping busy, the crossroads is still there. This is not something to fear, but the more you avoid it the ‘bigger’ it becomes. This is your moment to re-shape the rest of your life; scary but wonderfully joyful and life affirming at the same time...

As the whirlwinds of your mind continue to stir up thoughts, ideas, beliefs, understandings and more thoughts, it has been hard for you to find still moments for pause and contemplation. Your mind is naturally active at the best of times, and it can be hard to switch this off, for it is your driving force and your inspiration. However, sometimes your head becomes such a hurricane of activity, that instead of inspiring and energising you, it overwhelms and depletes you, and such an event has been happening recently. There is so much that you want to do, be and experience, and trying to balance this out into true priorities, must-do responsibilities, pure distractions and the downright wrong has been nigh on impossible for you! As the weeks progress there is a need for you to stop putting yourself under so much pressure and to take a step back from ‘doing’. A little time ‘being’ is what you need now so you can regain your clarity, vision and focus; after that, life looks set to become crystal clear and wonderful once again...
As uncertainty shifts into certainty, and doubt shifts into confidence, it seems that you are now ready to make some important and life changing decisions about your life and your path ahead. You have been hovering in indecision for some time, clinging onto that proverbial precipice, wondering whether to let go or to scramble back up onto the rocks. This ‘in between’ time seems to have injected your life with more clarity and awareness, as it seems that you have now discovered a new way forward that involves both what you know and what you don’t. It seems that you need to scramble back onto terra nova but let go at the same time! This conundrum may sound impossible, but deep down you already know that it is right for you. You can have it all, and if anyone can make this work, then it is you. Life is not ‘black and white’, ‘either, or’, and this realisation is your inspiration now to create a brand new and exciting new chapter in your life...

More to Life
Sagittarius
November 23 - December 21
As you continue to let go of those inner doubts in connection to your life, path, gifts and dreams, you are beginning to sense a shift within. It seems that the more you believe, the smaller doubt becomes; and, as a positive cycle, the less you doubt, the more belief comes your way! Doubt is so hard to set free, but you have already let go of so much in such a relatively short space of time. You now seem ready to allow your optimism and creativity to flow freely in your life once again creating opportunity and abundance in the ways that you know are not only possible, but very probable as well. This is a time to think big, to believe and to know that the only limits on your life are the ones that you have placed there. Not getting carried away into unreality, you have reached the perfect moment to spread your wings and to soar high into the sky with beauty, majestic strength and confidence. This is your moment of alchemy to turn your life into gold...
Capricorn
December 22 - January 20
As you continue to keep your focus honed towards knowing your path; at the same time you are continually gaining a stronger sense of Self. It seems that by having the confidence to focus on your true priorities in life, you are able to inject some much needed self belief and self knowing into your awareness. The result of this is a feeling that you are now ready to make some big decisions about your life and your path ahead. You have been searching for more depth and meaning, and this now seems to be coming from a desire to live a simpler and less complicated life. Whilst this has brought some fear to the surface in terms of what you may be leaving behind, in many ways, this is more about a shift in perspective than anything else. What used to be important just isn’t anymore, and it is the simpler things in life that hold true meaning and value for you. This is to be celebrated, for you have set yourself free...
Aquarius
January 21 - February 19
You have been on a somewhat unique journey over recent weeks and months (even years!). Spiritually, creatively, emotionally and energetically; you have found yourself, lost yourself, found yourself and lost yourself so many times, that you are likely to be exhausted just thinking about it! Yet, each part of this journey has taken you closer to Self. It has not been a fruitless or empty path, for you have gathered some truly valuable knowledge and wisdom. Life is all about continually learning, and whilst you want to get to your destination in order to find some peace, it seems that a shift in your perspective of this journey is needed now to see that each part is a vital piece of the puzzle of your life. No one wants suffering or hard times, but each experience has taken you closer to your true essence. There is a sense that you are now ready to bring together the many different facets of your experiences into a more cohesive whole now, for you are ready to create your very own Heaven on Earth...
Pisces
February 20 - March 20
This looks set to be a pivotal time of change and shift as you begin to re-claim your sense of Self and your true direction in life. As a fluid, empathic soul, you can easily get caught up in the tides of life, yet as a strong, passionate and empowered soul, you are not powerless to step out of these flows and eddy’s in order to find yourself again! It can be hard standing firm, following your bliss and asserting your Self, but you seem so ready to embark on a new adventure in life now. Thinking about it, talking about it and dreaming about it is one thing, but doing something about it is quite another! Yet, you know that you have reached a time of change in your life, and if you sit and wait for the ‘right moment’ when everything perfectly slots into place, then you might yet have a long wait. Of course, only you know when the time is right, but sometimes you have to trust your intuition to guide you for once you take a positive step in the right direction, you create your own magnificent flow to carry you forwards...

The Orange Tree, one of North Yorkshire’s best kept secrets.
You might hear a cockerel crowing or the odd tractor chugging past but the main thing you’ll notice at this idyllic retreat is your blood pressure returning to normal. And it feels fantastic. There are no pretentions at this blissful escape of a desination overlooking the North York Moors, no fancy gimmicks or sleek exotic decor and no silly names for treatments. Instead, you get a heavenly location in the heart of revitalising Rosedale Valley, along with genuinely caring staff and delicious home-cooked food, which all combines to create a nurturing and restorative environment you’ll love so much, one visit won’t be enough. Owner Edward, who is trained in meditation, yoga and various relaxation techniques, is an example of how a more balanced lifestyle can have a positive effect on your health and well-being. He used to have his own design business but now spends his time helping visitors discover a sense of deep inner calm. “The homely feel and warm welcome here is an ideal start for people’s journey towards rest, relaxation and time-out from the busyness and stress of daily life,” he says. “Our range of therapeutic yoga techniques and special therapies further help soothe away strains and worries.” Establishing a sense of serenety for your mind, body and soul is easy when you’re in the expert hands of the friendly team at The Orange Tree, while the splendid surroundings and panoramic views from the dining room, bedrooms and Jacuzzi hot tub will further enhance your experience. Even a gentle meander to explore Rosedale Abbey will be beneficial, while the wholesome ‘feel good in an instant’ vegetarian food that’s sourced, prepared and cooked with loving care is as nourishing and fortifying as you could possibly imagine. What’s more, The Orange Tree is far more affordable than many spas you’re likely to come across. With breathtaking scenery to wistfully gaze at and a consistently laidback atmosphere, sinking into the enveloping embrace of The Orange Tree is the perfect escape. Come and find out for yourself!
