Christ Church Honesty is the best policy
I am writing this while away visiting our Best Man from our wedding (back 1999), he lives with his family in a very idyllic place in North West Wales.
He currently works on the trains which follow the beautiful Welsh coast line. It gave him time to tell us about how nice it is to do a job that has responsibilities but is not stressful.

It reminded me of when I was young, I had a chance to follow my dreams and become an actress, the reality was I loved Bury St Edmunds and knew I wouldn’t want to leave my home for my career. Happiness is a great concept but for many people being honest about what makes us happy can be very different from the dreams we have.
I am sure like myself you know someone who has Dementia, we have learnt so much about how the mind changes the person we may have known.
It is very difficult for everyone who witnesses the changes of personality and characteristics in someone living with
Dementia and it may be a long journey to get the diagnosis that people may wish to deny they have.
When we are honest with ourselves it can often free us to get on with the life that we have.
At Christ Church we have been blessed with an amazing Decaf group that have been running every Thursday morning for people who may have dementia and importantly the people who are caring for them.
Decaf is a place for people to share their experiences but it is a relaxed atmosphere with quizzes, tea & coffee with small donation to cover the costs. Geraldine who set the group up really would like people to volunteer their time to set up the room and clear chairs and drinks at the end. If you have time to help this wonderful group even if it’s a couple of times a month Geraldine would love to hear from you. Just call the Church on 01284 769956 or email revjonathanford@googlemail. com.
I may not have become a famous actress and it was only when I was honest with myself that I could say I am happy.
We are learning about Jonah through chapters 1 to 4 in August on each Sunday. Jonah was not able to see what he already had in front of him even when God saved him from the sea’s and grew a plant for shade from the sun. I am looking forward to the talks about Jonah to bring his experiences into my thoughts and how I can relate them to my life. Church has a great way of helping us look at different things in our lives which can help us be honest about our own capabilities.
God loves all of us, but we may not look in the mirror and see what God sees: A unique individual who is capable of whatever they put their mind to, if they believe in themselves as much as God does.
