The School of Education and Urban Studies is one of the leading institutions in the region for the number of applications received from African-American high school graduates. We’re crafting controversial arguments, challenging conventional thought, and making the fundamental act of teaching and learning a joyous, liberating, and engaging experience. This starts with our practiceready curriculum in a teaching program based on providing real-world experience and the requisite job skills local school systems value most. Our core requirements include 100 consecutive days of teaching and learning in classroom settings to ensure you gain true work experience as part of your core requirements.
FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCES
Earn your Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Fashion Merchandising. Our curriculum prepares you for careers in retail and wholesale organizations in buying, merchandising, fashion coordination, publicity, and sales and marketing. You’ll also benefit from exposure to core business and management concepts. Through courses like Marriage and Family Relations, Early Childhood Development, and Family Resource Management, a concentration in General Family and Consumer Studies will prepare you for a broad range of career opportunities in schools, colleges, federal programs, child care and more.
