At Morgan State, you’ll learn from faculty who are leaders and active researchers in their fields. Faculty in the School of Architecture & Planning, for example, include Professor Dale Green, one of the leading African American ethnoarchitects and preservationists of the 21st century. Dr. Samia Rab Kirchner has worked for UNESCO-Paris and the Getty Center for Conservation, among other institutions, and is known for her work on seascape urbanism in port cities in the Persian Gulf. Here, you’ll learn from published scholars and globally recognized professionals.
Further Study Our students often go on to pursue advanced graduate studies. The University of Pennsylvania and Washington University have recruited numerous BSAED students, many of who have been awarded generous scholarships. Recent BSAED graduates have also continued their education at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Northeastern University, NYU, MIT, Savannah College of Art and Design, University of Maryland, and Virginia Tech, among others. Morgan State’s own School of Architecture and Planning offers three master’s degrees in architecture, landscape architecture, and city and regional planning.

AWARD-WINNING FACILITIES
Morgan State’s CBEIS, an LEED Gold®-certified facility completed in 2012, has won four design awards, including the AIA Maryland 2013 Public Building of the Year. CBEIS houses 34 digitally equipped classrooms, a 250desk open studio, the Built Environment Applied Research lab, 10 group study rooms, a fabrication shop, 100 offices, a green roof, and more.

AWARD-WINNING STUDENTS
Each year, students participate and receive awards in numerous regional competitions, including the AIABaltimore Architecture Research and Travel Scholarship, which provides funding for the study of architecture abroad. Other recent awards include the AIA Baltimore FAR Scholarship, the AIA Maryland Student Design Awards, the FAIA Baltimore Leadership Award, and the 2015 AIA/F Diversity Advancement Scholarship.
Programs of Study ARCHITECTURE AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN The Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and Environmental Design program (BSAED) draws on science, technology, humanities, and the arts to offer a broadranging and balanced education. Design studio courses are complemented by classes in history, theories of the built environment, and graphics, among others.
As a BSAED graduate, you’ll be well prepared for an entry-level position in architecture and environmental design. Our curriculum also prepares you to pursue a Master of Architecture degree, or to explore other areas of study including planning, landscape architecture, and social design. In fact, with our 3+2 Program, you can earn your Bachelor of Science in Architecture & Environmental Design, plus a Master of Architecture, City and Regional Planning, or Landscape Architecture, in just five years when you begin as an undergraduate.
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management (BSCM), you’ll develop an understanding of the complexities of construction projects, the value of sustainable practices, and the ability to manage people in the field. You’ll graduate well prepared to work in construction science in the areas of design and construction systems, construction graphics, surveying, methods and materials, as well as construction estimating, planning and scheduling, construction accounting and finance, project management, and safety procedures and practices.
