Project Scope Goodyear is opening a marketing facility in Atlanta, Georgia. These new offices will occupy the entire floor in an upper story of an existing downtown building. The company wants to create a modern space to serve a variety of functions from in-house training sessions to sales and marketing presentations to potential buyers. It is important to the company that the space be efficient and functional while at the same time portraying the company’s emphasis on innovation.
Client Profile Goodyear is a Fortune 500 company with one of the most recognized brands in the world and employs approximately 63,000 people at locations all around the globe. The company slogan is “innovation isn’t just what we do -- it’s who we are.” Goodyear strives to provide high quality products to meet customer needs while simultaneously developing and using environmentally friendly practices. In order to meet their lofty goals, the company must attract and retain highly talented professionals. The company seeks to provide an environment where associates are inspired by work, wellness, and serving their communities.
Concept Development The design of this building seeks to honor both the geographic location of the office and the company’s ideals. Atlanta, Georgia is known for its southern hospitality; therefore, it is important that the design of the office provides a warm, welcoming feeling. This is done by the inclusion of lots of natural light and open space in the reception area. Spaces have also been carefully designed to meet the comfort needs of both associates and clients whether they are working independently, in partnerships, or in large groups. The colors throughout the space are a sophisticated nod to the company’s logo. The company’s commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship also inspired the design. Modern, sleek furnishings provide a cutting-edge feel, the patterns of the wall coverings are similar to tire treads, and the polished cement floors are much the same as roadways. The large windows and biophilia featured in the cafeteria and throughout the offices provide a subtle reminder of the company’s commitment to the earth.
