Work Experience
Design Intern / Saxton Inc.
As a little girl I loved to doodle, design clothes, and make houses for my dolls. Since jumping into the interior design field it has allowed me to follow my passion for creating spaces and helping people simultaneously. I have learned that the design of a space plays a significant role in a person’s physical, mental, and spiritual well being. Working with a team of professionals to meet the specific needs of clients is enormously rewarding to me. I look forward to joining a dynamic team where I can share my creative spirit and continue learning while working collaboratively.
Throughout my professional career so far I’ve worked along side senior designer on commercial and residential projects. Some of those include Drake University, North west Bank, Ames location, and residential clients in my current title.

Bach’s Rheumatology is one of the leading clinics in the United States. The goal for this 3rd floor remodel was to create a beautiful space with accessible design features for people of all ages and with a variety of mobility needs. Patient comfort was the central focus for this space with an emphasis on providing a secure and inviting environment in the entry, waiting areas, and treatment rooms. Music was used as the inspiration to keep the space as calming as possible. Smooth lines, calm colors, and warm terrazzo were used throughout. Special attention was given to the floor plan of the space to ensure maximum efficiency.

When designing a luxury haute couture hospitality space, many elements and aesthetics must be considered. One of the requirements for this space was making sure the daytime feel was significantly different from the night time aesthetic. Using the dresses as concept imagery accentuated the elegant yet functional aesthetic desired for the space. Pulling together the colors, textures, and organic pieces contribute to the overall tone and visual appeal of the space.

West Haven school district is in the need of a new preschool building. They want to make sure this building has modern technology and flexible spaces to support their non-traditional learning environment that will ensure the students’ learning experiences are innovative and personalized. For young children, preschool is much like the start of a sapling starting to grow. Just like a young tree needs fertile ground in which to grow, children need safe and stimulating spaces that allow them to explore the world around them. Just as young trees must adapt to changing weather and environment, children need spaces that allow them to bend and stretch as they develop physically and socially. Knowledge is to the student as water is to the tree.

PARADE HOME
Project Type: Residential
T he Moorman family is looking to build a new forever home. They’ve selected a two story modern farmhouse floor plan. After speaking with the clients, it was decided to add a basement that would accommodate their need for more space. Although their children are young right now, they wanted the bedrooms to be playful but also functional and adaptable enough for them to age in.
