The Client Crofton School is a Foundation mixed comprehensive school for 11-16 year olds, with 1000 students, serving the village of Stubbington and the surrounding areas. The school prides itself on offering a fully accessible environment which values and includes pupils of all abilities and creates a sense of real community, developing a culture of achievement, awareness and tolerance.

The Brief

How We Delivered

In 2017 the school started development work to modernise classrooms and learning zones as part of a larger refurbishment project to reduce energy costs and re-clad and update the original 1970’s building. Morleys were invited to work with the school as part of the facilities upgrade, to design and create a vibrant, inspiring and innovative solution for 8 classrooms, 3 ICT suites and a Learning Resource Centre.

Morleys ensured the product selection was in accordance with our design, inspiration and ethos of the learning environment so that the furniture both complemented, enhanced and performed functionally in the required space. It was important to observe value for money with durable and quality assured products.

The colour palette needed to be consistent with the school’s colour scheme as well as endorse the school’s vision for pupils to work collaboratively and inclusively. The classrooms needed to offer a modern environment where pupils could work in smaller groups and feel a sense of pride and respect for their school and each other. The ICT suites and LRC needed to offer a space where pupils could work together in groups as well as offering a quiet study area for individual reading and learning. The learning centre needed to be the heart and hub of the school, promoting the key messages for pupils to achieve together in a tolerant and communal space whilst lending itself to a functional and inspiring area to promote reading and accelerate literacy.

FOR EDUCATION

Morleys Interiors is a division of Morleys (Bicester) Ltd www.morleys.co.uk | 01869 320320

We completed Phase 1 of the delivery and installation of the classroom furniture within the required timeframe of 3 weeks, delivering Postura chairs, Spray PU edge tables, classroom storage, teacher desks and teacher operator chairs on our own vehicles using our own team of drivers to ensure the highest standards of service and quality throughout the process. We produced 3D CAD drawings and layouts for the ICT suites and LRC to enable the school to visualise the design and assist with accurate decision making. We delivered and installed Phase 2 for the loose and fixed furniture for these areas in the summer of 2018 to deliver a complete solution to display non-fiction in an attractive way and promote the use of ICT equipment to aid reading and broaden general knowledge. The LRC now offers pupils a creative and inspiring learning environment and is the metropolis of the school’s community.
