Stuart and Naomi McIntosh established Chief’s Son Distillery in 2013, and after three years of testbed success they distilled their first commercial batch of single malt whisky in this Somerville location. Known for its big, bold and unique styles of awardwinning single malt whisky, Chief’s Son is one of the largest familyowned and operated distilleries in Australia. The name ‘Chief’s Son’ is derived from Stuart and Naomi’s surname – ‘Mhic an Tóisich’ in Scottish Gaelic – meaning ‘Son of the Chief’.
