HYBRID BUILDINGS
The New Standard in Size, Strength and Flexibility
America’s leader in post-frame construction

Discover the Flexibility of a Morton Hybrid Building While wood-frame buildings have flexibility when it comes to layout and design, steel-frame buildings offer increased interior space thanks to large clear-span capabilities. By combining the best of wood and steel construction, Morton’s hybrid building provides the ultimate in size and flexibility. With Morton hybrid buildings you choose the floor plan that best fits your needs and the features that you want in a building. With steel-framed buildings you may be limited on features such as door and window placement. Traditionally more standardized structures are offered with steel-framed buildings that are costly to customize. With Morton Buildings, custom buildings are standard. Morton listens to your building needs and ideas and works with you to develop a building plan for you now while allowing for future expansion.

Introducing Morton Hybrid Buildings Morton Buildings is proud to now offer hybrid buildings. Morton’s latest hybrid technology allows for clear span buildings up to 150'. Combining the strength and spanning capabilities of steel along with the affordability, design flexibility and energy efficiency of post-frame construction makes Morton’s hybrid buildings the best option for a variety of building applications. These buildings feature pre-engineered steel trusses which allow for a wider building while wood framing provides superior insulating properties and building strength.

Standard sizes 90', 100', 110', 125' Steel trusses set on wood framing 3/12 standard roof pitch Additional interior clearance versus wood trusses Pre-engineered steel, open-webbed truss design Ability to construct buildings that provide greater door clearance, giving you the ability to use bigger doors with shorter walls, allowing for a lower profile building
As with traditional Morton buildings, Morton hybrids offer countless features and options to meet your building needs including porches, overhangs and Morton’s exclusive Energy Performer® insulation package which keeps your building comfortable year-round while keeping utility costs down.

Protect Your Investment Morton hybrid buildings combine the best of both steel and wood construction to bring you a building that meets your needs now and in the future. Steel trusses allow for greater clear-span widths than wood trusses. This provides up to 33% more interior space than traditional wood-framed construction. Because Morton hybrid buildings use steel trusses and wood framing, they provide better insulating properties than all-metal buildings. Wood framing can also outperform many all-steel structures because wood framing provides a wind-resistant box, even before the siding is attached. As with all Morton Buildings, our new hybrid buildings are constructed by Morton-employed and trained crews. Morton hybrid buildings are popular for machine storage buildings, riding arenas and light commercial building facilities. X-bracing in truss
“We were looking for a wider building and they had the wide building that fit our needs…It’s a lot easier to put things away when you don’t have to worry about different layers and what piece is going to come out next. You more or less just put it up along the edges and you can get to each piece real easily. ” Rob R. • Piper City, IL

“I really like the workmanship and the quality of the Morton buildings and so when they said I would be able to fold out my big planter inside, drive the combine in with the head on and have both those machines inside with some other equipment inside also, and with light and heat, which I haven’t had before, that was a good thing. I was excited about it.” Scott R. • Gresham, NE

Progressive installation of a corner section of the Energy Performer insulation system
Discover the Superior Efficiency of Energy Performer® Post-frame buildings feature an exceptionally large built-in wall cavity for insulation when compared to steel-framed buildings. Steel-framed buildings compress insulation, which affects the R-value. Wide column spacing in wood-frame buildings allow for continuous insulation between structural elements. Where the insulation is interrupted, wood has natural insulating properties, unlike steel components. Morton’s exclusive Energy Performer insulation system provides superior condensation control and insulation. The Energy Performer package provides several features including: 1. Walls nearly 9 inches thick with 6 inches of insulation. (With the option to add more/thicker insulation.) 2. Wide blankets of insulations vs. only 14 ½ inches in standard stud wall construction.

3. Polyethylene vapor retarder is carefully installed to keep insulation dry and reduce infiltration and heat loss by creating a seal. HVAC, electricity and plumbing can also be run inside the vapor barrier without cutting holes or breaking the seal. 4. Fully ventilated attic provides condensation control, resulting in dry insulation, which is more effective. 5. 24 inch truss heels allow full depth, blown-in ceiling insulation with a rating of R-38 or greater (ENERGY STAR® compliant)*, with the option to add more insulation to obtain an overall average rating up to R-60, and air space for attic ventilation. 6. Sidewall fiberglass blanket insulation provides a true R-19 rating. By using thicker walls and more insulation, a greater R-value can be achieved. *An R-value rating is a standard measure of thermal resistance. The more difficult it is for heat to pass through the insulation, the greater the R-value. Energy Performer not only saves you money by reducing your heating and cooling bills, it also gives your building a finished look. Exposed insulation can tear, reducing the value of the insulation and making the interior of a building look worn; with Energy Performer, your insulation is protected.
