Sliding Door Options (continued) Make Feeding Time Easier How you feed your animals not only depends on your preference for completing this routine chore, but also on your horse’s socialization or privacy needs. If your equine companions are more social, then having a more open stall front not blocked by the feeding panel may be preferred. However, for those horses who thrive with a little more privacy, the wood front feeding panel can provide added comfort when eating and lounging. Since horses love to chew, feeding doors with options to swing the bin to the aisleway when not in use adds longevity to the wear and tear of these items in your stall. No matter your style and horse’s needs, there are many options available.
Choose Your Sliding Stall Door Style Similar to the feeding options, your stall doors also have options for more or less privacy for your equine companions. Openings in a stall door can enhance your horse’s social interaction as well as provide an additional two to three feet as the horse extends its head beyond the stall door. Mix and match the top and bottom of your sliding doors to best suit your style. Top Door Options

Energy Performer®
Other Features You want the interior of your building to be just as beautiful as the outside, which is why you have a wide variety of interior options starting with the walls. Wash stalls typically use steel because it is maintenance-free. Smart panel, HardiePanel®, tongue and groove boarding, drywall and wood are just a few of the other options that you may choose to complete the look of your building.
Morton Buildings’ exclusive Energy Performer insulation system keeps your building comfortable year-round and helps to prevent condensation buildup. It can also reduce your heating and cooling costs.
Thermal Dry Board Thermal Dry Board is a faced rigid foam insulation material that provides an attractive white finish, is bird and sag resistant, and offers condensation control for the building. It is recommended for non-climate controlled buildings that see intermittent usage
Dry-Panel Feed Room
Tongue and Groove Boarding Walls
Dry-Panel is applied directly to steel panels at Morton’s manufacturing plants during the roll-forming process. The specially designed fabric traps moisture as it condenses and releases it back into the atmosphere through normal evaporation when conditions allow.
Hi-Rib™ Acoustical Steel Restrooms
Smart Panel
Acoustical steel keeps noise down so you can concentrate on your horse.
Bird Protection Wash Stalls
Hi-Rib™ Steel Walls
Morton strategically installs 2" x 2" lumber between columns and sidewall steel to help discourage nesting and reduce the feathered pest population in your building. Optional bird wire mesh between the roof and sidewalls considerably reduces overhead nesting.
Protective Liner Installed between the splashboard and first nailer, our optional protective liner of 7/16" OSB provides protection for the wall steel from impact that can occur, especially in riding arenas. 12

Wouldn’t it be nice to ride your horse anytime you like, regardless of the weather? With Morton Buildings’ clear-span riding arenas you can work with your horse, rain or shine. The open-framed design offers structural rigidity and a sense of openness. You also have several choices when it comes to style and size. Fully enclosed arenas allow you to control the climate in your building while open-walled arenas allow for maximum ventilation. Vented walls are also great for ventilation and allow you more control over your building’s environment. Another option to improve ventilation is a functional roof cupola, which works with vented overhangs to control the environment inside your building. Morton Buildings’ exclusive Energy Performer® insulation package provides year-round comfort and energy efficiency in your arena. Hybrid Buildings Riding Arenas Morton hybrid buildings bring you a building that can meet your needs now and in the future. Our hybrid building offering combines the best of both steel and wood construction, allowing for even larger clear-span interior space up to 150'. This provides up to 33% more interior space than traditional wood-framed construction and better insulating properties than an all-metal building. These buildings feature pre-engineered steel, open-webbed trusses set on wood framing, which allow for a wider arena while wood framing provides superior building strength. By combining the best of wood and steel construction, Morton’s hybrid riding arenas provide the ultimate in size and design flexibility with the ability to use bigger doors with shorter walls and allowing for a lower profile building.

Floor Plans Probably the most important decision you will have to make when planning for your equine facility is the layout. The spacing and size of your stalls, the width of your hallway–these are all important factors to consider. You may also want to add additional rooms or allow space for future growth. The following are just a few examples of floor plans that may work for your building. You can also work with Morton Buildings to customize your building plans to ensure they fit your needs.

Walkdoors
Dutch doors are primarily used for outside access to a stall. This door allows light and ventilation to the stabled horse. Dutch doors come in several variations to fit your needs and the requirements of your horses. We cover every corner of exposed wood, including the door frame, with metal trim to reduce the potential for cribbing. Morton yoke guards help prevent your horses from chewing or leaning on the door. These are just a few of the features that keep your horse safely confined within its stall, even when you aren’t there.
Our MB910 walkdoor is field-adjustable and features a strong aluminum frame - a great choice for insulated buildings.* The MB FiberSteel® door, our premium walkdoor, is recommended for a variety of customer applications and offers a crossbuck design option. All of our walkdoors are available with or without windows. Color availability is based on the style you choose. Brown and beige FiberSteel doors match Morton Buildings’ FLUOROFLEX 1000® colors. Details, design and material specifications are subject to change without notice. *Note: Not for use in living quarters, office buildings, assembly buildings, retail outlets, exits requiring panic hardware or buildings with high heating and cooling requirements.

An adjustable window approximately 3' x 2' in each stall will provide light and assist in ventilation. A stabled horse needs natural light and air to help offset the confining space of a box stall and the effects of not seeing or hearing the outside world. Any window must be protected with an adequate steel grill to protect the horse from possible injury.

It allows for different color schemes and breaks the vertical lines of your building’s walls. It is also easier and less expensive to replace a short steel wainscot panel that is damaged by equipment or animals, rather than a full-length steel panel.
