merrychristmas Merry Christmas Mosman’s climate future Council has taken further steps on its path towards net zero emissions following the recent adoption of its Climate Action Plan – Resilience and Adaptation Strategy and additional support for electric vehicles in Mosman. Resilience and adaptation focuses on risk management and recovery while assessing and preparing for the predicted impacts of climate change. The strategy will be reviewed every four years in order to ensure alignment with climate change predictions, priority issues, gaps and service levels. Its adoption follows the earlier implementation of the Mitigation Strategy, which provides a pathway for Council and the community to meet net-zero carbon emissions targets by 2030 and 2040 respectively. Meanwhile, to support the wider use of electric vehicles in the area, Council has brought on line two new 50 kW Evie Networks fast chargers at Raglan Street West Car Park and is intending to introduce planning requirements to ensure that future residential flat buildings will have electric car recharging capacity. Council is also negotiating with private vendors to facilitate the potential installation of another two stations in Mosman which would bring the total number of public charging stations in the area to six. Council will continue to monitor usage of its fast-charging network, with current data indicating there is still additional capacity in the network.

Reporting potholes Dementia awareness A two-year dementia awareness and education project is underway with Council staff and volunteers being trained ahead of planned community workshops for families and carers. Dementia Australia has delivered training for selected staff and volunteers to provide them with a greater understanding of dementia and strategies to communicate effectively with people living with dementia, their families, and carers. The project aims to foster a workplace and community that’s inclusive and focused on the needs of people living with dementia.

Following recent severe weather conditions which damaged roads, Council has made it easier for residents to report potholes on Mosman’s streets. A potholes category is now included in the Report It list on the Council website and has also been added to the MyMosman app, along with the option to include photos and location mapping. The app enables residents to report potholes and any other matters requiring Council’s attention, stay up-to-date with Council news and events and connect with Council services such as waste information, recreational activities, community consultations and more. Potholes and other issues can be reported via the Report it page on Council's website by visiting mosman.nsw.gov.au/report or by downloading the MyMosman app from the Apple App or Google Play stores.
