Council goes electric

As Mosman’s electric vehicle public fast charging network passes another major milestone, saving more than 100,000 kg of CO since the chargers’ 2 installation, Council is supporting the move through its own vehicles. Council’s Hyundai Ioniq can now be seen around Mosman sporting a distinctive digital livery in blue.

The fully electric vehicle offers a range of more than 250km after reaching full charge, which takes about 47 minutes when using a fast charger.

Council’s three fast chargers are installed at Mosman Square and Raglan Street West car parks and now average a total of more than 170 sessions together, saving more than 2,800 kg of CO each week. 2

MOSPLAN adopted

Council has endorsed a revised version of its 2022-2026 MOSPLAN Delivery Program, as well as its Operational Plan and Budget for the 2023-2024 financial year, which will take effect from 1 July this year.

Works planned and budgeted for in 2023-24 include completion of major works at Allan Border Oval, Balmoral Oval and Mosman Square, as well as a new play area at Hunter Park, further LED lighting upgrades, continuation of the street sign renewal program and amenities upgrade works at Georges Heights Oval. The next major review of MOSPLAN will be undertaken following the September 2024 Council elections.

Aunty Time workshops

Creation Space activities

The successful series of wellbeing workshops, blending indigenous perspectives with wellbeing practices and creativity, returns to Mosman Youth Centre as part of the Gai-Mariagal Festival this year. Led by Gai-Mariagal Festival co-chairs, Aunty Suzie and Aunty Caroline, the workshops offer high school-aged young people a safe space to explore First Nations culture, fostering cultural understanding and social-emotional wellbeing. Visit youth.mosman.nsw.gov.au or the Gai-Mariagal Festival website at gai-mariagal-festival.com.au for details of other Aunty Time workshops in the region.

Art Prize entries

Barry O’Keefe Library’s Creation Space is open for a range of regular activities and drop-in sessions catering to all ages.

Visitors can book the podcasting or film studio or try their hand at VR or robotic lego as well as a range of other Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths (STEAM) activities at the makerspace.

Those living with cognitive challenges, including adults living with dementia and their carers, can also benefit from the new Tovertafel. Visit events.mosman.nsw.gov.au/creation for further details about regular programs and drop-in sessions.

Artists wishing to join the ranks of Mosman Art Prize luminaries can start brushing up their entries for the 2023 competition before registrations close on Friday 4 August for the $50,000 acquisitive award sponsored by Council. Entries will remain online after the digital entry process last year enabled artists from beyond the Sydney region to more easily enter. More than 800 artists participated in the 2022 competition, including a considerable number from interstate, and it is expected the number of entries will grow in 2023. The judge of the prize will be announced in July and the annual exhibition will take place from 23 September to 29 October.
