ratorium In Siwa

“Siwa

is the stuff of desert daydreams. Just 50km from the Libyan border this fertile basin, sitting about 25m below sea level and brimming with olive trees and palms, epitomizes slow-paced oasis life. Set between the shady groves, squat, slouching mud-brick hamlets are connected by winding dirt lanes where trundling donkey carts are still as much a part of the street action as puttering motorbikes and 4WDs. Scattered throughout the oasis are crystal-clear springs, which are a heavenly respite from the harsh heat. At the edge of the oasis, the swells of the Great Sand Sea roll to the horizon, providing irresistible fodder for desert exploration.

“MOHAMED OSAMA GAMEE” Concept I : Closure & Continuity After analysis it was found that the unity of the Siwa’s community is the main reason for the existence of its heritage till now. So, (continuity) and (Closure) of Siwa’s community are main reasons to exist this heritage and According to the theory of Gestalt it transformed from a philosophical wise into an architectural wise.

Concept II : Exploration & Perception

Concept III : Expansion & Flexibility

By combining of Scatter Fabric and Ribbon Fabric, Explore and perceive Siwa's Heritage and Have a Great Visual axis Experience to all Attraction Places .

“MOSTAFA ABDELAZIZ WAHID Concept I : Free, Fluid and dynamic spaces

Concept II :

Concept III : Ordering the informal pattern

Centralization of topography

Centralization aims to improve efficiency through taking advantages of economies scale: improving the average and also the reliability. And in the concept, they had the interrelationship between all spaces to make the visitor feel the whole experience in one loop to interact, discover and investigate more.

In the dynamic spaces you need to Providing a visual connection between the different spaces first, we have to differentiate between stillness and movement, while the study spaces and connections between the main zones of the Exploratorium that replies to community needs and focusing on building technology, social life, and historical background of the tradition and heritage aspects to make the people interact and discovering.

Challenge to set up new pattern in the project site . the module born from architecture regular, formal grid that everyone Known come from architecture theories. context site that has a variety of modular grid as it consists of the random informal grid and modern iron linear grid . and finally city image defined by the variety of building elevations, forms and material and also the variety of people living in the site district

“Concept I ”

“Concept II ” “Change”

Everything around us has been changing during time by external factors. So, nothing stays in the original state only small things will remain.

“Attraction ”

From the historical background of Siwa, Shali is the main settlement of Siwa, and it was a point of attraction, So the project will attract people from gabal el mawta and Shali by three different way:

“Concept III ”

“Affordances”

According to Gibson affordances ‘ users don’t see form but what see is what the place can do for us, so I tried to make social interaction. Social interaction Recognizing of the five senses

Concept I : Urban fabric

The existing urban fabric is compact triangles which are integrated with the project and Will reflected in circulation, natural lighting and masses

‘’OMNIA ALI ELKADIY’’ Concept I :URBAN FABRIC

Concept II :NEW SHALI

Concept III :VISUAL CONTIAUITY

Shali fortress is one of the most curial historic venue and remarkable architecture that can not be ignored or effected in the project.

1.Extension of fabric grid

4.Extruding various levels

5.Moving and grouping some spaces

2.Self creating spaces

Specifying the outlines of recent Shali’s mountain, that advocate to create different levels and scale of visual steps . 3. Specifying the aimed spaces

Extruding the curved lines to its sides, and then start to sliding these curve lines to different direction.

Mountain Selected of death project The selected site location (project) is planning to be the third landmark in this region of Siwa’s oasis; besides the shali and Connecting these visual death mountain. As, by taking a visual extend axis from shali steps with curved lines. and death mountain to the site location and also from shali to death mountain; these extend axis lines are formed three intersecting points which form a triangle shape for three vital venues shali shali

“RANA ELKHOLY Concept I : SIWA IN STEPS

Concept II : THE WAY TO OLD SHALI

Concept III : INFINITY SIWA

Circulation will tell the story of Siwa from the beginning to the end in the middle there will be several entertainment activities and integration. Circulation provide free , journey and enjoyable experience. The hierarchy in spaces will insure visual continuity and also insuring that no one of visitors will miss anything from exhibits. Both timeline of Siwa and target group requirements will define the project.

The project inspired from the topography line of Shali fortress and all its unique features. It offers direct visual access to both sky and Shali. Also offers availability for circulation outside the building and several activities on the top of it like stargazing at night.

The concept idea is not block anything by reflecting surroundings. It will be as visual extension of Siwa nature. So the project will have the same theme of the context. The perceiver will have visual access from both inside and outside the project to the surrounding context.

Concept II : “ The concept focuses on mystery

between the project and Siwan people to attract their attention and lead them to explore. ”

that will attract people to explore the spaces inside the building. The mystery will be achieved by three main elements building form, circulation, and lighting. ”

Phase 1: spiritual link purity of form that was always seen in their style of vernacular architecture

Phase 2 : physical link

Through our site investigation it was found that the western desert is related to Siwan people environment and also could be a good example of the keyword mystery.

Concept III : “ The concept main idea is

combining between static building exteriors and dynamic building interiors ( unbuilding the building ). “ Flexible walls give the variety of spaces for variable functions, and have the advantage of surprisingness to the visitors.
