MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING (MATL) SPECIALIST DEGREE IN TEACHER LEADERSHIP (SETL)

Hone your teaching methods and improve your student learning outcomes when you earn your Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning (MATL) degree. Help your entire community by identifying and responding to their specific needs and problems. Take your master’s degree in education further by earning your Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership (SETL). Assume a leadership role and make impactful decisons within your school district / community. Courses for these degrees are delivered in a variety of ways­­—seated, online, and hybrid. Even seated courses will save you time and money as most are delivered at (or very near) a school site in your district. SPECIALIST IN EDUCATON, TEACHER LEADERSHIP DEGREE PLAN This cohort-style 36 credit hour degree plan, designed to develop teacher-leaders, consists of 24 core course credits. Twenty-one of these credits (five courses) will be delivered in hybrid format—both on-site and online. On site classes will be offered at (or very near) a site in your district.

MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING DEGREE PLAN This cohort-style 33 credit hour degree plan consists of 21 core course credits (five courses)—and all of these will be delivered at (or very near) a school site in your district.

Admission requirements: Master’s degree; certification, or the potential for certification to teach P-12. Required courses: Required professional learning community courses 18 hours (No transfer courses allowed) and administrative leadership area course - 3 hours.

Neither of these degrees will lead to a school administrator certification or administrative degree leading to such certification. Those teachers interested in pursuing school administrator certification should contact the Counseling, Leadership and Special Education Department at Missouri State University for information about their degree programs: (417) 836-6951.
