B.S. in Psychology Evening/Online Program (minor required) This program assumes that the following have been completed prior to beginning this program at Missouri State University: (1) A.A. degree, or 42-hour block at OTC including OTC’s HST 120 or 130. (2) PSY 121 Introductory Psychology (OTC PSY 110 is equivalent). Advising is important! (1) Make OTC elective choices in conjunction with OTC academic advisement, and if the prospective MSU major/minor are known, seek advice from MSU academic departments. (2) The psychology evening/online pathway illustrated in this brochure will lead to the degree. The combination of courses you choose to meet the requirements will depend on a number of factors. The Psychology Department offers a range of courses in the evening and online, which may include Abnormal Psychology, Psychology of Childhood, Ethology, Psychology of Adolescence, Behavior Management and Change, Psychology of Addictions, and others. Offerings vary each semester, so work closely with your advisor to choose courses that meet the following requirements. *Core Requirements: PSY 121 (PSY 110 at OTC), PSY 150, PSY 200, PSY 302, PSY 411 **Electives in psychology (9 hours, at least 6 of which must be 300-level or above) -- work with your advisor to find additional foundation courses or other PSY electives that fit your interests. ***Foundation coursework areas (12 hours) -- work with your advisor to choose one available class from each area: 1. Notes from the Psychology Department at MSU The MSU psychology major requires completion of a minor or a second major. Rather than taking PSY coursework at OTC beyond PSY 110 (MSU’s PSY 121), students can begin taking coursework toward their MSU minor.
