“The greatest thing I learned at McAuley is to think outside the box and to look at things differently, and not to be afraid. McAuley was such a comfortable place. I’ve noticed in college that many girls are afraid to raise their hand, but my experience taught me the opposite. I was taught to be thoughtful about my response and how to engage in discussion and debate, and that has served me well in college.” – Karen Spears ’13, University of Missouri, Google Student Brand Ambassador

“I hold McAuley women to a different standard than most. We are considerate, confident, intelligent and talented. McAuley women are made of ambition and kindness. We are what occurs when determination meets compassion. I have known a McAuley girl to be able to do anything she sets her mind to. There are no limits to what we have accomplished at McAuley already, and that will continue into our future.” – Erin Coghlan ’15, Valedictorian, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Business Major
Empowering young women to put academics first Mother McAuley integrates a rigorous liberal arts philosophy with a college preparatory curriculum. You actually learn to think beyond the classroom to see “the big picture.” Creative problem solving becomes second nature because it’s part of your everyday learning experience. McAuley expects you to earn more than course credits. You’ll discover that “learning how to learn” is an incredible thinking habit that will also lead to self-confidence in your ability to think critically and communicate with others.

Empowering young women to thrive when their learning styles take center stage Ca the rine McAuley Honors Schola rs
Le a r n in g Res ou rce Center The McAuley Learning Resource Program was established in 2002 to meet the individual needs of students who face learning obstacles during their high school years, yet demonstrate the potential to succeed in a college preparatory program. Unlike students in other learning assistance programs, McAuley students are mainstreamed into the student body and are given the tools to successfully complete the core curriculum, elective programs and graduation requirements of our college preparatory program. The program produces independent and selfadvocating learners who are prepared for post-secondary learning. By senior year, the students are welcome to use the LRC, but most no longer need extra assistance.
The Catherine McAuley Honors Scholars program (CMHS) recognizes superior academic achievement, offers opportunities for academic and cultural enrichment, encourages further development of skills and talents, and rewards high-scoring students for their endeavors. Members and their parents have an additional resource for securing information about colleges, summer studies, scholarship opportunities, scheduling and the most current enrichment programs. CMHS have the opportunity to tour college campuses and speak with admissions counselors, meet with McAuley alumnae to learn about various fields of study and career options, and participate in an alumnae mentoring program.
The Class of 2015 had a 100% acceptance rate into college for students involved in the Learning Resource Program. LRC students currently attend Ball State University, Columbia College, Edison State College, Lake Forest College, Saint Ambrose University, Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame, Saint Xavier University and more.

Empowering young women to respond compassionately to the needs of their communities The young women of Mother McAuley High School have inherited a great tradition and a great responsibility. They are challenged to preserve their faith and make it grow, to have the courage to live by the Catholic values they believe in, and to take the initiative to be women of the 21st century – educated women who respond to the needs of others. The faculty, staff and administration share in Catherine McAuley’s call to empower girls by serving as positive role models with a deep commitment to their faith and each other.
Praye r Prayer and liturgy are integral parts of the McAuley experience. Theology courses are grounded in Catholic, Christian and Mercy traditions. They serve to guide students’ individual faith formation. The values students gain will influence their choices for a lifetime.
Service Service is an essential dimension of the mission of the school. Through direct service and reflection, students respond compassionately to the needs of the community and realize the importance of their roles in a global society.
Ret reat s Retreats are a critical part of the faith formation. During the first three years, the retreats reflect that year’s curriculum. As seniors, the girls are invited to attend a Kairos weekend where they deepen their sense of spirituality and faith.

“Helping others has changed my perspective of the world and our society, and what I have to do as I get older to help. Being part of a community like McAuley has given me a strong support system that has made me realize I can change people’s lives. Seeing what I have accomplished so far only motivates me to go further and make an even bigger impact.” – Gabrielle Ennis ’14, Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration

Empowering young women to be confident competitors A th let i c s
McAuley athletes have set an impressive bar for young women’s athletics for years. Our teams and individual players have received state and national recognition. More than 475 student athletes are involved in interscholastic sports at McAuley. Mother McAuley is a member of the Illinois High School Association (I.H.S.A), the sanctioning body for interscholastic high school athletic competition in Illinois, and the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (G.C.A.C.)
In order to protect students’ individual eligibility, schools of the Archdiocese of Chicago support the policies of the Illinois High School Association. In doing so, Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School may not promise or offer athletic scholarships of any kind. Violations may result in the loss of eligibility for the student, coach and/or the school.

“I have received a total of eight scholarships over my four years at McAuley. Because of this, my family and I were able to focus less on the tuition burden and instead focus on academics and extracurricular activities. I have traveled to several states to learn about leadership and service, competed with my fellow Mighty Macs in the National Science Bowl, and dreamt about my future years in college. Without these experiences, I would not have found my confidence and voice to be a leader, follow my dreams, and achieve my highest goals.” – Sarah Dynia ’15, Northwestern University, Biomedical Engineering Major
