BACKGROUND This chic French restaurant at one of the city’s most exclusive hotels, The One & Only Royal Mirage, has come under new direction since reopening after the pandemic, with Michelin-starred Chef Mauro Colagreco – an Argentinian with more than 20 years’ experience in France under his belt – at the helm.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? Elegant and chic, yet cosy and intimate in its grandeur, this crystal chandelier and marble-decked space is a modern and stylish setting. With gorgeous views across Dubai and out to the hotel’s beautifully groomed grounds, it is indeed fitting that it’s located in the hotel’s ‘Palace’.

THE FOOD Blending classic South of France cuisine with the Mediterranean, but adding a more contemporary flair, the dishes are evocative of the taste of home. I had the Bouillabaisse for main, a light and tasty fish dish in a slow-cooked soup with a centuries-old history, it has been crafted

with a modern take. Every detail is taken care of, with even the home-made olive oil and freshly baked bread mouth-wateringly magnificent. There are plenty of fish and seafood options on the menu, as well as meat, but I opted for the scallop carpaccio for entrée, which was divine, dressed in a light and refreshing citrus dressing, while the artichoke in a clam dressing with pistachio and pine nuts o ered a delicious and crunchy twist on the classic vegetable, bursting with flavours. The presentation of every dish was exquisite. Other recommended dishes to try include le tartare de langoustine.

THE SERVICE French hospitality at its best; the sta made us feel incredibly pampered.

THE WORKSPACE This is a wonderful spot for dazzling visitors to Dubai or impressing that new client.

VERDICT A decadent French escape in one of Dubai’s most sough-after locations, which can be enjoyed for business or pleasure. Melanie Swan
