ICONIC GESTURES

TIFFANY & CO. CRAFTS ICONIC COLLECTIONS EQUALLY SERVING AS SYMBOLS OF ENDURING POWER, TIMELESS AFFECTION AND MODERNITY

WORDS: CAMILLE MACAWILI

LOCK BY TIFFANY

Designed to hug the wrist perfectly, the Tiffany Lock cuff bracelets showcase a unique oval-shape design that mimics the mechanism and functionality of a padlock – perfect for stacking or standing solo. Inspired by an 1883 padlock brooch from the brand’s archives, the padlock serves as a reminder between your loved one or yourself as a symbol of commitment and protection.

HARDWEAR BY TIFFANY

HardWear by Tiffany symbolises empowerment, strength, and tough love. Inspired by a 1962 bracelet from the archives which was then re-imagined into a full collection of bold statement jewellery pieces, worn and loved by celebrity A-listers and tastemakers

today. Its unique link is designed back-toback and arranged by two, forming the iconic motif. Each link is seamlessly finished by hand by in-house artisans to create a fluid and comfortable signature chain.

KNOT BY TIFFANY

Traced back to an elegant bow design from 1889, bows have played a significant symbol in the House’s heritage. The Knot by Tiffany collection, which features a sculptural yet feminine knot motif in several diamond settings, embodies a symbolic commitment or connection between two individuals.

T BY TIFFANY

The Tiffany T features an understated symbol of the House’s signature. A prime ex-

ample of quiet luxury, this instantly recognisable design reflects clean, intersecting lines inspired by New York City to symbolise love’s endless possibilities and new beginnings.

JEAN SCHLUMBERGER SIXTEEN STONE BY TIFFANY

The Sixteen Stone design symbolises love’s ability to hold precious things together. Introduced in 1959 as a wedding ring by Jean Schlumberger, it was inspired by his family’s roots in textiles in France and his early career in couture. Taking inspiration from the crossstitch, Sixteen Stone’s design – which takes over 12 hours to craft by jewellery artisans –creates an illusion of diamonds strung together by precious metal threads – alluding to each encounter, promise, and accomplishment.

An Artful Legacy

Where heritage meets modernity: Dior unveils a stunning new private salon in Dubai

Dior has unveiled a newly reinvented private salon within its flagship boutique in Dubai Mall, offering an exclusive and personalised experience for its clientele. The reimagined space celebrates the art of entertaining, a tradition deeply cherished by the House, and provides a unique backdrop for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s creations, spanning ready-to-wear, accessories, and shoes.

The salon’s design seamlessly blends Dior’s rich heritage with a modern, refined aesthetic. Classic Dior codes, such as the iconic Versailles parquet floor and the emblematic four-leaf clover motif, are interwoven with contemporary furniture in a sophis-

ticated palette of white, beige, and gray. This interplay of tradition and modernity creates an atmosphere of understated elegance, reflecting the House’s enduring appeal.

The space pays homage to Christian Dior’s own background as a gallery owner and art collector. The salon showcases a curated selection of captivating artworks by renowned artists, including Yto Barrada, Franck Evennou, Juan and Paloma Garrido, Timothy Horn, Hervé Langlais, and Joy de Rohan Chabot. A particularly enchanting painting by Jean-Baptiste Bernadet further enhances the salon’s artistic ambiance. This carefully chosen collection adds another layer of sophistication and cultural depth

to the client experience. The private salon promises a bespoke service, allowing clients to immerse themselves in the world of Dior in an intimate and personalised setting. The space is designed to facilitate a highly curated shopping experience, showcasing Chiuri’s designs in an environment that reflects their artistic and creative vision.

This newly opened salon underscores Dior’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences for its clientele. By blending historical references with contemporary design and showcasing a curated collection of art, Dior has created a space that is both luxurious and culturally enriching. The newly reinvented space is now open to the public.

WOMEN OF STYLE

Five stylish women tell us which style uniform gives them peace of mind in a busy schedule

Federica Labanca

Federica Labanca

FOUNDER - FFLOW

@federica. labanca

When time is of the essence, what outfit do you reach for when you want to feel at your best? I’m not going to pretend like I’m wearing impeccable outfits every day. Most days I’m busy running around so guilty as charged, my go-to uniform, especially living in London, is a cashmere tracksuit, a good statement coat and a pair of heels (on most days) or loafers/boots when I’m really running and when it’s raining (which we get a lot here). How does your style reflect your personality? Statement earrings and big shoulder pads. Now, I think these two elements are what have characterised the way I dress for the longest time and are the real baseline of my overall style. I would say the easiest way to put it would be retro, with a modern twist. I love looking back at magazines from the 50s up until the 80s and finding elements I can replicate and make mine. Behind most items I wear, there’s real research in trying to find pieces that recall those eras. I love wearing a vintage red suit I found on eBay, adding big shoulder pads to it and styling it with a pair of Knife Balenciaga shoes.

If you’re being true to yourself, what you wear will always reflect your personality. I genuinely feel like I’m in the wrong era. I would pay good money to live a couple nights in the 80s. I listen to 80s music; I research fashion history as a hobby. I work hard daily, and I want my daily looks to reflect that, hence why I love a statement shoulder (I put shoulders in T-shirts, cardigans, blazers, anything). They just make me feel like I can take on the world day by day. When you see me in a tracksuit and a big coat, I’m definitely on duty! On holiday on the other hand, everything is softer, and you can tell I’m relaxed. My looks always show how I’m feeling, can’t escape that!

When time is of the essence, what outfit do you reach for when you want to feel at your best? During a busy day, nothing brings me more peace of mind than my go-to outfit: a crisp white T-shirt or shirt paired with denim jeans. Adding a chic belt, statement earrings, and comfortable kitten heels elevates this effortless combination into something polished yet practical. It’s a look that allows me to transition seamlessly between work and personal outings.

How does your style reflect your personality?

My style is a blend of simplicity and timeless elegance, embodying quiet luxury with a modern edge. I gravitate towards classic pieces that stand the test of time rather than fleeting trends, as they complement both my personality and body type. My approach to style is thoughtful and refined, reflecting an appreciation for understated sophistication while embracing just the right hint of edginess.

I believe that fashion is a form of selfexpression, and I often dress to align with or uplift my mood. On heavier days, I turn to outfits that cheer me up, using bold colours or experimental styles to infuse energy into my look. When I feel more introspective, I opt for minimalist combinations that exude calmness and simplicity. My wardrobe choices reflect my adaptability and creativity, showcasing a balance between adventure and poise.

When time is of the essence, what outfit do you reach for when you want to feel at your best? I would say a button-down shirt with jeans/pleated pants or formal pants with a Tshirt and a blazer would be my most comfortable and relied upon looks for a busy schedule, especially at work. How does your style reflect your personality? I always tend to make sure to reach out for a statement earring for any look I do. Apart from this, I tend to elevate any look whether casual or dressy with a formal accessory – which always ends up being a pair of loafers or my dad’s blazer!

As a creative, my styling process leans towards dressing with intention, and that value is often how I operate in decisions

“I tend to elevate any look whether casual or dressy with a formal accessory”

across my lifestyle, I put thought into how I dress, spend time with people and experience the world in general. I like to think I do this from an artistic lens, even in my job, with my camera or even just hosting friends for a cozy night in. How you decorate your life is all art to me. Depending on how I feel, styling is a medium; an effortless chic slouchy look or a well-structured silhouette can both reflect my value for confidence and comfort. If I had to give my nature a color palette – my go-to tones are earthy, somber and grounding. There are times I go for a bolder statement piece with minimal looks to reflect my spontaneous or adventurous spirit; I also love mixing symmetry and patterns, and this shows my creative side. I appreciate nostalgia and timeless pieces through collecting vintage pieces with beautiful storytelling.

MANAGER – LEVEL SHOES

@hibaaw

When time is of the essence, what outfit do you reach for when you want to feel at your best? When life gets hectic, I turn to my goto uniform: a pair of perfectly fitting jeans, a vintage-inspired basic top, pointy pumps from Level Shoes, and a braided ponytail to keep things practical yet polished. It’s a look that’s effortless, comfortable, and versatile enough to carry me through a packed day of meetings and errands while still feeling chic and confident. I always carry a big work bag to throw everything inside – my laptop, notes, and even a snack for the day. It’s a

look that’s effortless, comfortable, and versatile enough to carry me through a packed day of meetings and errands while still feeling chic and comfortable. How does your style reflect your personality? My style is eclectic and ever evolving, but one constant is my love for a statement piece. I enjoy building an outfit around a standout item – whether it’s a bold pair of pants or an eye-catching accessory – and balancing it with simpler pieces to let it shine. I also love mixing feminine and masculine elements to create a look that feels dynamic and versatile. Colour plays a big role in my wardrobe, but I also appreciate the elegance of a monochromatic outfit. Ultimately, my style reflects my mood and the occasion, giving me endless room to experiment.

I like to think my style reflects my positive and vibrant outlook on life. I gravitate toward colourful patterns, prints, and bold pieces that exude energy. At the same time, I’m not afraid to step out of my comfort zone and try something new, whether it’s a quiet luxury aesthetic, an all-black look, or a head-to-toe homage to 90s vintage. My love for experimenting with different vibes keeps my style fun and unpredictable – and one thing you’ll always find me in is denim on denim!

CREATIVE CONSULTANT @KHLOODKIBEDA

When time is of the essence, what outfit do you reach for when you want to feel at your best? My day-to-day is about form-meetsfunction, really. I try to avoid decision fatigue in the mornings and lean instinctively towards something that just feels right on spot. When my schedule is packed, it’s usually something polished, but not too stiff – something that can take me from meetings to city streets to dinner with friends. If I had to pick it would be wide legged suit pants, a belt and a fitted top and then, I always throw on a coat or a statement jacket and accessorize up or down. Something about being in a coat feels elevated. Maybe throw on a baseball cap, a structured oversized leather bag, a pop of colour or some statement boots. It gives me a peace of mind knowing I can be as sophisticated or laid back with just one fit and a few edits. How does your style reflect your personal-

ity? I’d describe my style as experimental curiosity mixed with an undercurrent of imagination. Polished, yet playful – balancing classics and moderns. Recently, I found myself leaning into a more nostalgic, sophisticated and “quite luxury” look and feel. Sometimes it’s vintage pearls, a touch of an heirloom brooch, a tailored look or a timeless fabric. Come to think about it, I’m inspired by mothers’ wardrobe when she was around the same age. There was a sense of grace and steadiness in that era. When she compliments a look I’m wearing, I know I’ve done it right! I love the idea that vintage, timeless fashion can somehow bring us together beyond the changes and trends of time. I can

wear a pair of funky denim, or oversized joggers and she’ll frown, and the next day I’ll be in my tweed white set, and we’re best friends. That’s what fashion can do – bring an era back (or a relationship, I guess).

That being said, I love experimenting with my style, allowing myself to be unpredictable, and never static – fusing something sleek with a rebellious contrast; reimagining an outfit with an edge of a texture, colour, silhouette, something that stimulates and surprises even me. My style feels like a conversation starter between the world and myself. Every piece is a little insight into a part of my character – sometimes it’s adventurous, most times its colourful, at times multi-layered, playful and almost always unpredictable. I believe it’s an outward expression of my love for romanticising the little things in life, challenging the norm, prioritising play, bringing energy to the room, connecting with my inner child and allowing myself to feel a sense of belonging in the most unexpected of places (and unexpected of fits).

A TRANQUIL SPACE

WORDS: CAMILLE MACAWILI
In a rapidly evolving luxury retail landscape, brands have taken a renewed interest in bricks and mortar locations to engage with customers offline. London-based occasion wear label
RASARIO is 13 years in and unveils its first retail boutique in Abu Dhabi

A GROWING OPPORTUNITY

With their discerning global clientele, the brand plants its flag in the capital, providing an excellent opportunity for the brand to grow and reach out further to the Middle Eastern region. Located in the Galleria Mall on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi, this boutique opening marks a milestone in the brand’s global journey, bringing in the allure and craftsmanship of the brand to the discerning Middle Eastern audience. The brand is stocked in around nine stores globally and the Abu Dhabi boutique will be joining its offline roster in New York, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and more. “Our brand has found a special place in the hearts of women in the Gulf region. We've seen it in the demand from our clients, the strong interest from wholesale partners, and the success of our Ramadan collections. Everything came together – the market’s excitement and my personal love for Eastern culture. I believe our Abu Dhabi boutique is just the beginning of a beautiful new chapter for Rasario”, founder and creative director, Rasida Lakoba exclusively shares with Emirates Woman.

WELL-CRAFTED FLAIR

To succeed in a business that sells opulent wearables, one must appreciate beauty. RASARIO’s Abu Dhabi boutique is a testament to the label’s craftsmanship prowess and timeless sophistication. Designed by the visionary Ksenia Breivo, the space is a harmonious blend of cultural heritage and contemporary elegance, lending an unhurried elevated space and a fluid shopping experience. “The goal was to create a space that feels quietly luxurious while allowing the beauty of RASARIO’s creations to take center stage,” explains Kse-

Upon entering, customers are greeted by a striking belvedere, a dome-like structure that symbolizes celebration and romance. Thoughtfully divided into sections for bridal, evening, and cocktail collections, the layout ensures each space and character are clear from the outset. The interior palette, inspired by the desert’s meeting of sand and sky, creates an enveloping, tranquil atmosphere. Natural materials, including travertine and onyx, lend depth and refinement, amplifying the beauty of RASARIO’s creations.

nia, who shares the key intentions behind this thoughtful retail approach. “Drawing inspiration from Abu Dhabi’s architectural landscape – its blend of ancient forms and modern innovation – the boutique bridges tradition with modernity, offering a serene yet captivating environment.”

The boutique’s architecture and interior reflect the brand’s philosophy and exudes a unique ambience complemented by customdesigned furniture and décor featuring pyramidal structures and temple-like forms that evoke harmony and connection. Flowing sculptures and bold, column-like pillars

A SOFT SELL

At the heart of the boutique, the Icons collection are showcased, a tribute to RASARIO’s enduring appeal in eveningwear. This exclusive line reimagines the brand’s most beloved silhouettes by Lakoba, who blends heritage craftsmanship with modern innovation. During deep sleep stages, the brain undergoes essential repair and maintenance processes, including the removal of waste products that accumulate throughout the day. This helps preserve memory, learning, and mental clarity.

Chronic sleep deprivation accelerates cognitive decline by impairing the brain’s ability to form new connections and repair existing ones. Over time, this can lead to a faster aging process of the brain, contributing to memory loss, decreased focus, and even increasing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

In the UAE and GCC, where ambitious lifestyles, intense work schedules, and extreme weather conditions can impact sleep quality, optimising sleep is particularly important. Additionally, late-night culture, popular in the GCC, also contributes to inconsistent sleep patterns, disrupting natural circadian rhythms, compromising both mental and physical health by hindering recovery.

to optimise rest and recovery. Our Pod features snoring detection, adjustable sleep positions, and intuitive tap-to-control technology, empowering users to take more control of their sleep environment, ensuring they achieve the quality rest needed to perform at their best – no matter their lifestyle.

For those who find it challenging to get enough rest, what are other strategies and habits in mindfulness and fitness we can do to improve sleep quality? Consistency is the key to improving sleep quality. Whether it’s setting a regular bedtime, reducing screen time, or incorporating meditation and deep breathing to calm the mind – building healthy habits and maintaining consistency is essential.

How can we use tech in promoting sleep? The GCC’s greatest opportunity to overcome the sleep deficit and unlock better health, recovery, and performance lies in personalised sleep environments. This is where sleep technology can support.

Eight Sleep provides a comprehensive solution with its Pod technology – a smart mattress cover equipped with advanced AI and health-grade sensors that track vital metrics, such as heart rate variability (HRV), respiratory rate, and sleep stages, while automatically adjusting cooling, heating, and elevation to ensure optimal sleep conditions. Clinically proven to increase total sleep time and enhance deep sleep, the Pod empowers users to not just monitor their sleep but take control of their sleep environment to achieve more restorative, uninterrupted rest, regardless of temperature fluctuations.

Katie Mant

CO-FOUNDER OF BON CHARGE

Sleep is a precious commodity. What is the impact of sleep deprivation and what factors contribute to poor sleep quality? Beyond the usual fatigue and irritability, chronic sleep deprivation can disrupt vital bodily functions, compromise overall wellness, and ultimately impact our physical appearance (think dull skin, under-eye circles) as well as mental clarity. When you’re well-rested, you’re better equipped to handle daily challenges, make clear decisions, and exude confidence in both your personal and professional spheres.

Who is at a high risk of sleep issues? Sleep issues can affect anyone, but certain groups face higher risks. Shift workers often struggle with irregular sleep patterns due to demanding schedules. High-performing professionals, athletes, and parents balancing hectic lifestyles are particularly prone to insufficient sleep. Additionally, individuals in noisy or high-stress urban environments may find it challenging to achieve deep, restorative rest. Because sleep issues are unique to each person and their environment, solutions must be tailored to individual needs. At Eight Sleep, we embrace this ethos by offering personalised, data-driven technologies designed

Quality sleep often takes a back seat when our lifestyles involve late-night socialising, excessive screen time, or unpredictable schedules. Whilst blue light from phones and other screens is a well-known culprit, many people overlook that artificial blue light is everywhere after dark - from standard light bulbs to gym lighting and even restaurant fixtures. This constant exposure can trick our brains into thinking it’s still daytime, delaying melatonin release and making it harder to drift off. In addition, stress and anxiety – whether work-related or personal – can keep the mind racing long after we’ve turned out the lights. Irregular routines from frequent travel or unpredictable family demands can leave our internal

“Whether it’s setting a regular bedtime, reducing screen time, or incorporating meditation and deep breathing to calm the mind – building healthy habits and maintaining consistency is essential”

clocks perpetually confused. The sleep environment itself also plays a role: a room that’s too warm, noisy, or bright can disrupt deeper sleep stages. Combined, these factors create a perfect storm for poor sleep and daytime fatigue, prompting many to seek lifestyle adjustments and structured routines to reclaim their rest. Who is at a high risk of sleep issues? Although anyone can experience trouble sleeping from time to time, certain groups are especially prone to ongoing issues. Frequent flyers, for instance, deal with jet lag and shifting time zones that throw off the body’s circadian rhythm. Meanwhile, new parents or caregivers cope with nighttime awakenings and early starts, leading to significant sleep debt. High-powered professionals and entrepreneurs often find it tough to switch off mentally, with career pressures extending late into the evening. Shift workers, too, contend with irregular hours that clash with the body’s natural day-night cycle. For many, sleep is also impacted during menopause and perimenopause, when fluctuating hormones can cause hot flashes, night sweats, and restless sleep. All these scenarios underscore the importance of conscientious, holistic strategies – such as setting boundaries, establishing routines, and practicing mindfulness – to protect and nurture consistent, restorative rest.

For restless sleepers, what are other strategies and habits in mindfulness and fitness we can do to improve sleep quality? Establishing a calming bedtime ritual is key to signaling to the body and mind that it’s time to power down. Incorporating regular exercise during the day naturally encourages deeper, more restorative sleep come nightfall. For an extra boost, it’s essential to focus on light hygiene – especially the light we’re exposed to in the evening. Even the slightest exposure to artificial blue light – whether from screens or light bulbs – can impact sleep, even with your eyes closed. That’s why it’s crucial to avoid all blue light after sunset, and studies have shown that even some green light wavelengths can disrupt sleep. To truly protect your rest, circadianfriendly lighting should be a priority. Our Blue Light Blocking Glasses and Blue Light Blocking Lighting are designed to eliminate not only the sleep-disrupting blue wavelengths but also the green wavelengths, ensuring a more restful environment in the hours leading up to bedtime.

“Red Light Therapy (RLT), for instance, has been shown to enhance melatonin production, helping cue the body toward relaxation and a smooth transition into slumber”

Additionally, getting outside in the morning to soak up natural sunlight helps set your body clock, aligning it with the natural day-night cycle and enhancing your sleep-wake patterns. When it comes to night-time, turn to innovations that promote relaxation and help put your mind in an optimal state for sleep. Our Infrared PEMF Mats support relaxation and stress reduction, laying the groundwork for an easier transition into slumber. Red Light Therapy (RLT) panels are another powerful tool – helping balance circadian rhythms, encourage recovery, and promote a sense of calm before bed. By integrating these technologies into your routine and prioritising light hygiene, you can transform your sleep quality, ensuring you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to embrace the day. How can RLT aid in promoting sleep? Though technology often gets a bad rap for disturbing rest, it can actually be harnessed to support sleep when used thoughtfully. One key factor is circadian-friendly

lighting, engineered to optimise light hygiene throughout the day and night. Full spectrum lighting those transitions from daylight to soft, warm tones in the evening is crucial for maintaining natural rhythms. By removing disruptive blue light and even the sleep-interfering green wavelengths, this kind of lighting helps prepare the body for restful sleep by signaling that it’s time to wind down. In addition to adjusting lighting, other sleep technologies can support deeper rest. RLT, for instance, has been shown to enhance melatonin production, helping cue the body toward relaxation and a smooth transition into slumber. PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) technology can also play a role by promoting relaxation, further aiding the body’s natural sleep processes.

At Bon Charge, we advocate for a holistic approach that integrates these technologies to optimise your environment and routines for better sleep. By aligning your lighting and incorporating sleep-enhancing technologies like RLT and PEMF, you can foster a sleep-friendly atmosphere that supports your body’s natural inclination toward rest, leading to more consistent, restorative sleep.

“We use time-tested ingredients like ashwagandha and dashmool, paired with scientifically backed formulations to ensure the products meet modern efficacy standards. It’s about honouring the past while innovating for the future”

Akash Mehta

CO-FOUNDER, FABLE & MANE

How do you combine ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern scientific research? At Fable & Mane, we celebrate Ayurveda’s rich heritage by grounding our products in its holistic principles and combining that with modern science to create effective products. We use time-tested ingredients like ashwagandha and dashmool, paired with scientifically backed formulations to ensure the products meet modern efficacy standards. It’s about honouring the past while innovating for the future. What are some common misconceptions about Ayurveda? One common misconception is that Ayurveda is outdated or incompatible with today’s fast-paced lifestyles. We’ve shown that Ayurvedic rituals can be simplified and seamlessly integrated into daily routines. People may also assume it’s purely medicinal, but we’ve redefined it as a self-care experience –luxurious, indulgent in fragrance, and deeply nourishing. How has your family's heritage and knowledge of Ayurvedic hair care influenced the brand? Growing up, our family rituals revolved around the tradition of hair oiling, a practice passed down from our grandmother. It wasn’t just about hair care; it was a bonding moment filled with intention. That philosophy inspired us to create a brand that embodies these personal, cultural stories and share them with the world, making Ayurvedic wisdom accessible to everyone.

WORDS: RUMAN BAIG

ANCIENT WISDOM

Ayurveda is bringing time-honoured traditions to the beauty industry, marking a global interest in holistic wellness and ancient science

How did you bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern consumer preferences? We recognised the need for products that resonate with today’s consumers – beautiful packaging, simple to use products, and visible results. By distilling the essence of Ayurvedic rituals into products like our bestselling HoliRoots Pre-Wash Hair Oil, we’ve created a bridge that respects tradition while appealing to modern sensibilities. What is the favourite product created by you and the story behind it? It has to be the HoliRoots Hair Oil – the product that started it all. It was inspired by my grandmother’s ritual of oiling Nikita’s and my hair whenever she came to visit. This oil represents more than just hair care; it’s a celebration of our roots, both literally and figuratively. Creating it felt like bottling a piece of my childhood and sharing it with the world. What Ayurvedic practices or remedies have you found most beneficial? Hair oiling stands out as the most transformative practice. It not only nourishes the scalp and promotes healthier hair but also serves as a meditative experience.

Mira Kulkarni

FOUNDER, FOREST ESSENTIALS

How do you combine ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern scientific research? Combining traditional Ayurvedic ingredients with modern actives can be a powerful approach to skincare and wellness. By incorporating modern actives, such as scientifically proven antioxidants or peptides into

Ayurvedic formulations, we have been able to harness the efficacy of traditional Ayurvedic recipes and address specific skincare concerns with the infusion of these high-performance actives, a rare amalgamation in today’s evolving beauty landscape.

For instance, Ayurvedic ingredients like saffron, licorice, and ashwagandha are known for their potent regenerative and antioxidant properties. However, when paired with scientifically advanced actives such as hyaluronic acid, ceramides, or peptides, these ingredients can penetrate deeper layers of the skin and deliver targeted results. We believe this balanced interplay creates a skincare experience that is truly transformative, combining the traditional essence of Ayurveda with the proven efficacy of modern formulations. How did your personal experience with Ayurveda led to the creation of Forest Essentials? I have always believed there has to be a simplicity to beauty and that still remains. Growing up in an Indian household, in a country steeped in culture and heritage, one starts their beauty journey with traditional skincare – secrets our mothers and grandmothers have sworn by for generations. Every few days, they would whip up a nourishing face mask or moisturizing cream with ingredients in our kitchen – besan (chickpea flour), kesar (saffron), ghee (clarified butter), and almonds; ingredients to which Indian women have contributed their bright, shining eyes, lustrous hair, and supple skin for centuries. They would even make their own kajal, using the soot from diyas (oil lamps made from clay or mud with cotton wicks dipped in oil), we lit at home, the ash emphasizing their eyes and also cooling and brightening them with regular use. While growing up, I was exposed to a lifestyle where the use of natural products for skin and hair was a part of it. We applied ubtans (powdered natural scrubs that are regarded as one of the most efficacious Ayurvedic recipes) to wash our faces, with milk or yoghurt, and our hair was regularly massaged with oils that were prepared at home with fresh herbs and roots and simmered over a slow fire. I have seen, firsthand, the benefits of natural ingredients and ancient practices: it never occurred to me that skincare could be another way. What are some common misconceptions about Ayurveda that you’ve dispelled? Ayurveda’s perception from being medicinal, clinical and as an alternative remedy has transitioned to a celebrated science of effective beauty today. Consumers are recognising its efficacy and value it for having a holistic approach towards beauty that harmonises the mind, body and soul. Forest Essentials, by combining Ayurveda with luxurious, modern aesthetics has helped in bridging this gap between heritage and contemporary branding. This is particularly important for today’s consumer who is drawn to products that feel both authentic and aspirational. I think if I reflect on what could possibly be the biggest achievement is the fact that we created a completely new segment in the market. There were no high quality premium Ayurvedic skincare products in 2000, and the perception was that the ones that were available, were mass-produced and of poor quality. Forest Essentials started the first Luxury Ayurveda range of products in India. A common misconception is also that Ayurvedic products or Ayurveda in general are slow and out of touch. However, Ayurvedic products and practices guarantee long-term results that are more sustainable compared to the chemical counterparts in the market. Our newly launched Night & Day serums are perfect examples that are crafted with Ayurvedic activities and amplified with advanced technologies

“Ayurvedic products and practices guarantee long-term results that are more sustainable compared to the chemical counterparts in the market”

that deliver transformative results within 24 hours, while keeping to natural and holistic beauty parameters. How did you bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern consumer preferences?A first of its kind, Forest Essentials appeared as a trailblazer in 2000, merging traditional Ayurvedic practices with luxury aesthetics. The vision was to create a brand that not only celebrated India’s rich heritage of natural skincare but also delivered tangible, effective results. Forest Essentials exemplified innovation and creativity by transforming ancient principles into a modern upscale experience. Amidst a surge of beauty brands, our difference remains in the fact that we have been the original luxury Ayurveda brand to bring in a revolutionary change in the marketplace. With a legacy of creating unique handmade products using traditional formulations to keep them pure, fresh, seasonal and at their most desirable, Forest Essentials has elevated traditional Ayurvedic practices to a new level of sophistication and indulgence, lending to an extremely loyal consumer base that is continually growing. Our conceptualization and execution of Luxury Ayurveda has perfectly bridged the gap between ancient wisdom and the preferences of today's consumer. What is the favourite product created by you and the story behind it? One of our star products has to be the iconic Soundarya Radiance Cream SPF 25 that is infused with pure 24 karat Gold, potent Ayurvedic ingredients and highperformance actives to firm, illuminate, and smoothen the skin. What makes it special is that it is made using the timehonoured process of ‘Shata Dauta Ghrita’ – literally translating to 100 washes of Ghee. This is a laborious preparation that involves one hundred clockwise hand rotations of a copper bowl that is pressed into a blend of fresh Cow’s Ghee and water. This process enriches the Ghee with the metal’s innate therapeutic properties. Additionally, the infusion of pure 24 karat gold Bhasma in this cream – a fine herb enriched Gold Ash with deep penetrative, antioxidant and age-defying properties makes It stands out. The benefits of gold have been recognised for thousands of years in Ayurveda, for its beautifying and healing properties. It is also known as “The Key to Youth”.

What Ayurvedic practices or remedies have you found most beneficial? Apart from the golden rules and the 80/20 rule of Ayurveda, there are so many lesser-known secrets or practices such as Oil Pulling, Nasya Therapy Tongue scraping along with a Seasonal Detox known as Ritucharya. I find the three-hour interval practice very useful, wherein Ayurveda recognises specific energies during different parts of the day, for instance, 6-10 am is Kapha time, ideal for exercise and light meals.

Can you elaborate on the key Ayurvedic principles that form the foundation of your product formulations? Forest Essentials was inspired by a passion for Ayurveda to create products that are deeply entrenched in tradition, while being enhanced by innovation, just the way Ayurveda was always intended to be. The USP of Forest Essentials really is its purity and authenticity, so if you keep that as a cornerstone as you add to any range, it permeates through and sets you apart. The brand follows the fundamental principle of pure, fresh, seasonal and sensorial. Each product adheres to the highest standards of purity, authenticity, and quality. From raw cane sugar to our steam distilled pure oils, everything is made in the traditionally old-fashioned way, according to ancient tenets.

MINDFUL MOVEMENTS

Ali Hassoun, founder of PEAQ, on creating a social wellness sanctuary that prioritises community, holistic health, and shared experiences

What makes PEAQ unique? While many studios offer similar products, PEAQ stands out by providing a truly immersive social experience. At PEAQ, we go beyond fitness and recovery to create a sense of connection and community. Our offerings include Contrast Therapy, Ice Baths, and PEAQ Movement (Lagree classes), along with an extensive range of recovery options such as stretch sessions and sports massages. We also host a variety of curated experiences, including Breathwork, Sound Healing, and Restorative Yoga, as well as social events both in-studio and beyond.

PEAQ isn’t just a wellness studio – it’s a “third place,” a space where people feel they belong. Here, individuals can cultivate meaningful relationships – with themselves and with others – fostering both personal growth and a sense of community that extends far beyond the studio walls. How does “shared wellness” influence PEAQ? PEAQ is rooted in the idea of human connection and design. As social beings, we’ve always thrived by coming together – sharing activities, supporting one another, and building strong communities. This is why we succeed, grow, and flourish.

The concept of ‘Shared Wellness’ isn’t new; it’s something deeply ingrained in us. At PEAQ, we embrace this natural inclination by fostering health and well-being as a collective experience. Through shared practices and experiences, we create oppor-

tunities to enhance not just physical health but also mental and emotional well-being — together, as a community. What inspired PEAQ’s focus on holistic wellness? The realisation of the importance of holistic wellness and community came during a pivotal moment in my personal journey – when I faced significant physical and emotional burnout. I had been so focused on achieving professional goals that I neglected the foundational elements of my well-being. It wasn’t until I hit a point of exhaustion that I understood the need for a more balanced, intentional approach to life.

One particular moment stands out. After a particularly challenging time, I attended a retreat where wellness practices like meditation, movement, and shared experiences with others were central. It was there that I felt the power of community in healing. It wasn’t just about my individual effort – it was the collective energy, support, and connection that amplified the transformation. This experience inspired PEAQ’s mission. I realised that true transformation happens when we integrate physical, men-

tal, and emotional health, and when we do it together. PEAQ became a reflection of that belief – a space where individuals could not only grow but also feel supported by a like-minded community on their journey toward holistic wellness.

What was the impact of your first cold water therapy session? Cold water therapy was transformative for my recovery. My first session was memorable. Initially, stepping into the icy water brought a surge of resistance and fear – a visceral reminder of my body’s limitations. But as I surrendered to the cold, I experienced a sense of clarity and presence. It wasn’t just physical – it was emotional and mental, like peeling back layers of stress and uncertainty. That moment shaped the broader vision for PEAQ. It showed me that true wellness is about embracing discomfort to unlock resilience.

I wanted PEAQ to become a space where people could push boundaries and discover their potential – emotionally, mentally, and physically. Cold water therapy symbolizes that journey: stepping into the unknown and coming out stronger. It became a cornerstone of the holistic approach we bring to our community, encouraging everyone to explore and grow through challenges.

What role does community play in holistic well-being, and how does PEAQ foster connections? Achieving holistic well-being involves key elements that go beyond individual effort – it thrives in a communityoriented space grounded in shared values and meaningful activities.

∙ Community Connection: A truly supportive environment brings people together, fostering shared experiences through group fitness classes, meditation circles, or wellness programs.

∙ Collaborative Practices: Activities like yoga, mindfulness sessions, or interactive workshops encourage participants to learn and grow collectively, benefiting from the shared energy and insights of the group.

Mutual Motivation: Group settings amplify accountability, inspire encouragement, and create opportunities for individuals to exchange experiences, strengthening their commitment to wellness goals.

∙ Inclusivity: Shared wellness ensures accessibility for everyone, bridging gaps and creating opportunities for diverse individuals to embrace and enhance their well-being. By integrating these aspects, we create spaces that nurture not just individual growth but also a sense of belonging and collective empowerment.

“By pausing, I can reflect, realign, and continue moving forward with greater clarity and resilience”

How do you tailor wellness retreats to different cultures? While people may come from different backgrounds, we share many commonalities – especially when it comes to our desire for well-being. Wellness is a universal language that transcends cultural and societal differences, making it easy to connect with others on this shared journey. At PEAQ, our approach is deeply personal, allowing us to create experiences that resonate with individuals on a meaningful level. This relatability fosters genuine connections and makes the path to well-being feel accessible to everyone, no matter their story or background.

What challenges have you faced introducing PEAQ to the Middle East? For us, it’s less about introducing and more about reintroducing the concept of social wellness –a practice deeply rooted in human nature. Launching PEAQ in Dubai is especially exciting, given the city’s growing interest in the wellness industry. We see this trend in

approaches. People are more invested than ever in taking care of their wellbeing, seeking ways to balance physical, mental, and emotional health. PEAQ stands at the forefront of social wellness in the Middle East, redefining how wellness is experienced. In Dubai – a city renowned for shaping the future – PEAQ is leading the charge, shaping the future of social wellness in the region by fostering meaningful connections and holistic well-being. How are societal attitudes toward rest and recovery shifting? The definition of success is evolving. Priorities are shifting as people seek the luxury of more time for themselves and the ones they hold closest. True happiness lies in this balance. Our bodies are the filters of our environment – they absorb everything, and we should honour that. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. When you prioritize self-care, recharge, and recover, you’ll have more energy, focus, and love to give to those around you. Investing in your well-being is the key to being your best self for others. How do you maintain balance? To perform at my best, I know I need to take care of myself first. I believe in practicing what I preach – nurturing my mental, physical, and emotional health. I make time to breathe, meditate, stretch, exercise, and rest. But above all, I’ve learned to truly listen to my body. When you’re connected to yourself, you can intuitively understand what your body needs, allowing you to show up stronger and more balanced in every aspect of life. What inspires you about PEAQ’s growing community? The term “community”is often used, but it’s true power became clear to me during my own journey of self-discovery and in shaping PEAQ. Through my travels – from the southern shores of Sri Lanka to Bali – I experienced a deep, authentic sense of community that transformed me. It was in these connections, both with others and with myself, that I realised how essential human connection is. We’re meant to live together, to support one another, and this plays a major role in the growing shift in the wellness industry. That’s why at PEAQ, we strive to create a space where communities can truly grow, thrive, and connect.

other cities like Berlin, Lisbon, New York, Seoul, and Bali, where people are increasingly prioritising a holistic approach to living. They’re seeking ways to enhance not just their physical health but also their emotional and mental well-being, all while fostering meaningful connections with others. It’s a global movement toward living better, and we’re thrilled to be part of it. Where is the wellness industry headed in the future? The spotlight is increasingly turning toward the wellness market, encompassing both modern and traditional

What's your guiding philosophy? My personal philosophy is simple: “Your progress lies in your ability to pause.” I’ve faced many challenges in my life, and each one has shaped me into a better version of myself. In those moments, I take the opportunity to reconnect with my “why” – my purpose. This philosophy empowers me to embrace the challenges I encounter and gives me the strength to push through even the toughest situations. By pausing, I can reflect, realign, and continue moving forward with greater clarity and resilience.

NATURAL BEAUTY

How Sara Al Rashid, founder of Asteri Beauty, focuses on building a beauty brand based sustainability

What inspired you to launch Asteri Beauty? I wanted to create a brand that empowers Arab Women to shine their light while celebrating Middle Eastern beauty heritage. Asteri was born to merge high-performance formulas with sustainability and honour our rich cultural roots.

How does Asteri Beauty incorporate sustainability into its formulations and packaging? Sustainability is at the heart of Asteri. We use clean, vegan, cruelty-free formulas, microplastic-free ingredients, and sustainable palm oil. Our packaging features over 50 per cent post-consumer recycled materials, refillable options, and all cartons are FSC-certified paper. Asteri Beauty has officially achieved B Corp certification –how does it work? Becoming B Corp certified means we meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It reflects our commitment to balancing purpose and profit, ensuring every aspect of our business – products, people, and planet – is considered. It’s a rigorous process that aligns with our values and pushes us to keep improving.

How did your strong background in interior architecture and spatial design positvely impact you building Asteri Beauty? It helped me translate concepts into tangible experiences, from designing store spaces that reflect their local environment like the Red Sea’s vibrancy in Jeddah and Jacaranda blooms in Abha to creating products that tell a story. My design background fuels creativity in our packaging, ensuring it’s as beautiful and functional as it is sustainable. It also inspires the shades and finishes of our products, blending aesthetics with purpose to celebrate our Saudi heritage in every detail. Asteri’s Saudi heritage shines through in the little details – tell us more. Saudi traditions are reflected in everything we do, from creating high-performance formulas suited for extreme heat and humidity to designing products that cater to a wide range of skin tones and beauty preferences. Even our packaging and store designs pay homage to Saudi culture, drawing inspiration from the Arabian desert, Red Sea, and local flora. Every detail is a celebration of our roots and a way to share the beauty of our heritage with the world. Our product naming also pay homage to Arabic heritage and women, such as the maha mascara or the legacy lipstick where each shade is named after Arab women – Sara, Johara, Monira and many others. How do you think beauty and self-care rituals are evolving in the luxury space? Luxury beauty is now about mindfulness and purpose, combining indulgence with real results. It’s clean, ethical, and performance-driven, focusing on highquality, sustainable products. At Asteri, we embrace this shift with thoughtful designs, refillable packaging, and formulas that nourish, protect, and elevate everyday self-care. What sets Arab beauty apart from the rest of the world? Arab beauty is a unique blend of bold expression and timeless tradition. It celebrates radiant skin, dramatic, defined eyes and long-lasting finishes that resist the harshest climates. It’s about honouring cultural rituals while embracing modern innovation. At Asteri, we reflect this essence by creating high-performance products tailored to diverse skin tones, extreme weather, and the high standards of Middle Eastern women, capturing the spirit of Arab beauty in every detail. Tell us about the latest collection and what makes it different from the other releases? Our

On the expansion front, we’re focused on opening stores in regionally with plans to enter Europe. This is The Tranquility Issue – how do you keep your peace during testing times? At this time and age with all the technologies around us you need to keep your peace even if times are not testing. I personally try to insert little moments throughout my day to stay calm. One important thing for me is physical movement, so working out helps my stress levels a lot. Yoga and meditation are activities I also try to insert in my day. Even if it is a three minute breathing session, or a ten minute yoga session.

Navigating

the future

of holistic health including personalised recovery, mental resilience, and integrated wellness technologies with Jamie Moore, Director of Fitness, SIRO One Za’abeel

What key wellness trends do you foresee in 2025? Looking ahead to 2025, wellness is evolving into something much more holistic, with a focus on recovery, sleep, nutrition, and a sense of community. Recovery practices are going to take centre stage – think things like cryotherapy and contrast therapy – which are all about helping the body recover and reset. Wearable tech will be huge as well, tracking your recovery stats and helping people better understand their bodies. When it comes to sleep, we’ll see a surge in tech-driven solutions – like smart mattresses and guided meditations – that aim to optimise sleep quality. And the conversation around mental health and sleep is going to take off, with new treatments like vibroacoustic therapy really gaining attention. Nutrition will continue to hone in on gut health, with more personalised plans emerging to give people the foods their bodies really need. Finally, community wellness hubs, similar to SIRO, will become more prominent, merging fitness, mental health, and social connection, offering a space for people to come together and build both physical and emotional resilience. How will emerging wellness trends in 2025 align with SIRO’s holistic philosophy of health and recovery? At SIRO, we’ve always believed in a holistic approach to wellness, so the emerging trends in 2025 are a perfect fit for us. Our focus on recovery, sleep, and nutrition directly aligns with what’s coming next in wellness. We’re already offering thermoregulated mattresses to optimise sleep, along with guided meditations and vibroacoustic therapy to support mental and physical recovery. On the nutrition side, we provide personalised plans to ensure each guest gets what their body truly needs. What’s really exciting is how we integrate both mental and physical health, helping our guests not only recover but perform at their best – whether it’s in the gym, in their careers, or just in everyday life. It’s all about creating a space where every aspect of well-being is cared for. What innovative wellness technologies or methodologies will become more prevalent in 2025? In 2025, we’ll see some truly gamechanging wellness technologies that help people optimise their health in a more personalised way. When it comes to sleep, expect smart mattresses, light therapy tools, and sleep trackers to evolve, offering even more tailored recommendations for deeper, more restorative sleep. Vibroacoustic therapy, which we offer at SIRO’s

Recovery Lab, will also gain traction. Using sound vibrations to reduce stress and promote relaxation, it’s a powerful tool for both mental health and physical recovery. These advancements will enable individuals to take a much more proactive, personalised approach to their overall health and recovery, making it easier than ever to be in tune with what their body needs.

Beyond physical fitness, what mental wellness trends will rise in 2025? Mental wellness will take a front seat alongside physical fitness, with holistic practices like mindfulness, yoga, and breathwork becoming essential to managing the connection between the mind and body. These practices will not only help individuals recover from physical exertion but also support emotional balance, providing tools to reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being. We’ll also see a rise in collective mental health initiatives, with wellness events, retreats, and mindfulness workshops creating spaces where people can connect, share experiences, and build supportive communities.

How will nutrition evolve in the wellness landscape by 2025? Probiotics, prebiotics, and gut-friendly foods will take centre stage as we recognise the critical role the microbiome plays in everything from digestion to immunity – and even mental health. Alongside this, functional foods like adaptogens, fermented products, and plant-based supplements will rise in popularity, offering specific benefits like boosted energy, improved immunity, and enhanced stress resilience.

How have your experiences shaped your vision for the future of wellness? My background has shaped my vision for wellness as a holistic experience that goes beyond physical fitness, integrating advanced wellness practices to elevate overall health and wellbeing. MAINTAINING BALANCE

Dr. Mohsen Soofian, leading physician at Hortman Clinics, shares how staying calm can play a vital role in balancing our hormones

How does stress specifically impact hormonal health? Stress can significantly impact hormonal health through a cascade of physiological responses orchestrated by the hypothalamic-pituitaryadrenal (HPA) axis and the autonomic nervous system, which triggers the release of cortisol, the primary stress hormone. While acute stress temporarily elevates cortisol to prepare the body for the well-known “fight or flight,” state, chronic stress can disrupt various hormonal systems. This prolonged cortisol elevation impairs glucose metabolism, promotes insulin resistance, and suppresses thyroid function by inhibiting the conversion of thyroxine (T4) to active triiodothyronine (T3). This leads to two main symptoms like fatigue and weight gain. It can also interfere with reproductive hormones, reducing gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and subsequently lowering testosterone in men and disrupting estrogen and progesterone balance in women, potentially causing irregular menstrual cycles and fertility issues. Chronic stress can suppress growth hormone production, which affects metabolism, muscle repair, and overall physical recovery, while also depleting serotonin levels, contributing to mood disturbances like anxiety and depression, and disrupting melatonin production, leading to poor sleep quality. Furthermore, the increased glucose levels caused by stress prompt heightened insulin release, which, over time, can lead to insulin resistance and an elevated risk of Type 2 diabetes. To mitigate these effects, we recommend managing stress through mindfulness practices, regular exercise, a nutrient-rich diet, and adequate sleep is essential – sounds basic, but not a lot of people dealing with chronic stress actually follow this simple routine. For persistent stress-related symptoms or hormonal imbalances, we help by restoring hormonal balance through a personalised and optimised treatment. Are there specific techniques or therapies you recommend for reducing stress and balancing hormones? Yes, we work with several effective techniques and therapies to reduce stress and promote hormonal balance. These approaches can vary depending on lifestyle changes, therapeutic interventions, and supportive practices:

When it comes to lifestyle changes, we recommend regular exercise, such as brisk walking, swimming, or yoga, helps lower cortisol levels, improve insulin sensitivity, and enhance reproductive hormone balance. Quality sleep is equally vital, with 7–9 hours per night being essential; good sleep hygiene, including consistent sleep schedules and limiting screen time before bed, promotes restorative rest – often we encourage a one hour sleeping routine before bed. A balanced diet rich in whole foods, healthy fats, lean proteins, and essential nutrients like magnesium, zinc, vitamin D, and B vitamins supports hormonal health while avoiding excessive caffeine, sugar, and processed foods helps stabilise mood and energy levels. Mindfulness techniques, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, and progressive muscle relaxation, effectively reduce stress, while yoga and tai chi combine movement with mental focus to enhance resilience. Alternative solutions include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and biofeedback can address negative thought patterns and physiological stress responses, respectively. Complementary approaches, including adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha or rhodiola, acupuncture, and massage therapy, further promote relaxation and hormonal regulation. For medical and supplementation support, supplements like magnesium glycinate, omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics, and vitamin D can provide additional support, while regular medical evaluations and lab tests ensure tailored treatments for hormonal imbalances. Social connections, journaling, and emotional support help build resilience against stress. Together, these strategies create a holistic approach to reducing stress, balancing hormones, and enhancing overall well-being. Do you take a more natural/holistic approach, or do you focus on conventional medicine? As an integrative and functional medicine physician, I take a comprehensive approach that combines the best of conventional and holistic medicine. My goal is to leverage evidence-based treatments from both modalities to address the root causes of health concerns, improve quality of life, and help my patients unlock their fullest potential.

Do you use advanced diagnostics like functional medicine testing for root causes? Yes, as a functional medicine physician, I utilise advanced diagnostics, including functional medicine testing, to uncover the root causes of health concerns. These tests provide detailed insights into factors such as nutrient imbalances, hormone levels, gut health, metabolic function, and more – a full 360 degrees review, if you may. By gaining a deeper understanding of a patient’s unique biology, I can create highly personalised treatment plans that address the underlying issues, not just the symptoms, leading to more effective and lasting results. Are there in-clinic services like acupuncture, massage, or stress-management programmes?

At Hortman Clinics, we offer a wide range of in-clinic services to support overall wellness, including massage therapy, and tailored stress-management programmes. Additionally, we integrate fitness programmes designed to improve mood and enhance physical and mental health. We also provide access to medications and peptides that have been shown to increase a sense of well-being and reduce anxiety, ensuring a comprehensive and personalised approach to addressing our patients’ needs.

What role does cortisol play in anyone’s overall hormonal balance? Cortisol is commonly known as the “stress hormone,” and it plays a vital role in maintaining overall hormonal balance and supporting essential physiological functions as it helps manage the body’s response to stress by increasing blood sugar, modulating inflammation, and prioritising energy for immediate needs. However, chronic stress can lead to consistently elevated cortisol levels, which disrupt the balance of other hormones. Elevated cortisol can inhibit growth hormone release, impairing tissue repair and muscle metabolism, and its anti-inflammatory effects can suppress immune function, increasing susceptibility to illness. Additionally, cortisol follows a natural daily rhythm, peaking in the morning to promote energy and wakefulness and tapering off at night for restful sleep. Any sort of disruptions to this rhythm, often caused by chronic stress or poor sleep, can lead to fatigue and further hormonal imbalances.

Are there supplements or vitamins that could help regulate hormones? Yes, there are several supplements and vitamins that can help regulate hormones by addressing deficiencies, supporting hormone synthesis, and improving overall endocrine function. Vitamin D, a hormone-like nutrient, plays a critical role in testosterone and estrogen production, while magnesium supports cortisol regulation, thyroid health, and stress management. Zinc is essential for reproductive hormone production and thyroid function, and B vitamins – particularly B6, B12, and folate –aid in hormone metabolism, energy production, and stress resilience. Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil reduce inflammation, enhance insulin sensitivity, and support the production of estrogen and progesterone. Adaptogenic herbs such as ashwagandha and rhodiola regulate cortisol and improve adrenal health, while iodine and selenium are vital for thyroid hormone production and metabolism. Probiotics promote gut health, which is crucial for estrogen metabolism and overall hormonal balance, and inositol is particularly effective for regulating insulin levels and supporting ovulation in women with PCOS. Evening primrose oil, rich in gamma-linolenic acid, can alleviate PMS symptoms and support skin health, while choline enhances liver detoxification, ensuring proper hormone metabolism. Of course, these supplements are most effective when tailored to individual needs and combined with a healthy diet, stress management, and regular exercise. Make sure you consult a healthcare provider before starting any supplementation though. What are peptides? Peptides are short chains of amino acids that serve as signaling molecules in the body, influencing various biological functions. In the context of biohacking, performance optimisation, and wellness, peptides are used to target specific physiological processes, enhance cellular functions, and promote overall health and well-being. Peptides are highly targeted, which often makes them more effective and with fewer side effects than conventional treatments. However,

WORDS: SARAH

they should be used under medical supervision, as incorrect dosing or improper use can lead to side effects or suboptimal results. Customisation is key, as different peptides cater to specific goals, such as improved energy, recovery, or anti-aging.

Are there natural peptides used for Hormone Therapy? Yes, natural peptides are often used in hormone therapy to stimulate the body’s natural hormone production or to mimic the effects of naturally occurring hormones. These peptides are either identical to those produced by the body or function similarly, and they are commonly employed in integrative medicine and bioidentical hormone replacement therapies. Some examples of natural peptides used for hormone therapy include Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF-1. IGF1 LR3 is a natural peptide promoting cell repair, muscle growth, and fat metabolism. Kisspeptin-10 is a natural peptide that plays a key role in boosting testosterone and supporting fertility. The Thymic Peptides include Thymosin Alpha-1 (TA-1) which enhances immune function and supports the body’s ability to manage stress. Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-500) promotes tissue repair and reduces oxidative stress. Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone Peptides and Melanotan II is primarily used for skin pigmentation and libido enhancement. Lastly, GHRH Analogs includes Sermorelin which supports metabolism, muscle repair, and anti-aging. This is The Tranquility Issue – how important is it for our body to stay calm? Maintaining a calm state is crucial for our overall health and well-being. When the body remains calm, it operates in a state of balance known as homeostasis, allowing all systems – nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, and immune – to function optimally. Chronic stress or a lack of tranquility disrupts this balance, leading to elevated cortisol levels, hormonal imbalances, and increased inflammation, all of which can contribute to physical and mental health challenges. Calmness directly supports the parasympathetic nervous system, often referred to as the “rest and digest” system, which is responsible for promoting relaxation, enhancing digestion, supporting immune function, and allowing the body to repair itself.

A calm state improves sleep quality, boosts energy levels, and enhances cognitive clarity, helping us stay focused and resilient in the face of daily challenges. Conversely, prolonged stress can push the body into a state of hyperarousal, increasing the risk of anxiety, depression, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders. Achieving tranquility involves more than just emotional relaxation; it also requires adopting a lifestyle that fosters calmness, including regular physical activity, mindfulness practices, a nutrient-rich diet, and quality sleep – this is a key state of mind which we operate under here at Hortman Clinics. By prioritising calmness, we create a foundation for long-term health, unlocking our body’s innate ability to heal, regenerate, and thrive. In essence, tranquility isn’t just about feeling at peace – it’s a vital component of vibrant health and optimal living.

AM TO PM BEAUTY

Founder of HWH Studio in Dubai, Adrienne Everett, shares her morning to evening beauty routine

Talk us through your morning routine. Mornings are my little slice of zen before the world gets busy. I start with warm water and lemon – like giving my insides a refreshing wake-up call. Then, it’s movement time: yoga, Pilates, or sometimes just freestyle dancing in my kitchen. My skincare is nonnegotiable: a gentle cleanse with ALO’s Enzyme Facial Cleanser, a few drops of 100 per cent carrot oil for that natural glow, and Augustinus Bader’s The Serum to feel like I’m prepping for a photoshoot. I finish with Valmont’s hydrating moisturiser and sunscreen. A matcha latte is the cherry on top,

and then I’m ready to conquer the day. How does your evening routine differ? Evenings are for unwinding in full luxury mode. I start with a double cleanse (because the day deserves to be properly wiped away), then go all in with Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream for the ultimate pampering. I dab on some retinol, seal it with a little carrot oil, and if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll pop on a hydrating sheet mask while sipping chamomile tea. A little Instagram scrolling or journaling rounds out my perfect wind-down. What are your go-to skincare products? Oh, it’s a lineup of glow-getters! I’m obsessed

with Augustinus Bader’s full range – it’s like skincare meets science fiction. Hundred per cent carrot oil is my hydration hero, and I can’t go without a solid sunscreen to keep my skin happy and healthy. Are you a fan of masks? Completely. Masks are my excuse to stop everything and pamper myself. I love detoxifying clay masks when my skin needs a reset and hydrating sheet masks for that instant glow. Bonus points if they smell amazing – because skincare should feel like a mini vacation. How would you describe your approach to makeup? Effortless, simple, and all about

Clockwise from top left: Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick – Makeup Dhs200 Chanel; Holiroots Hair Oil 55ml Dhs155 Fable & Mane, Enzyme Facia Cleanser – Boosts Skin’s Radiance and Restores Glow Dhs296 Alo; Myrrhe Églantine Eau de Toilette 100ml Dhs1,336 Hermès; The Rich Cream, 50ml Dhs1,177 Augusutinus Bader; Hydrating Face Mist 50ml Dhs374 Dr. Barbara Sturm

enhancing my features. I go for a natural glow, with Chanel on my cheeks for that perfect flush, Charlotte Tilbury bronzer for subtle warmth, and LAS for perfectly groomed brows. Makeup is like the fun friend that helps you shine, but it never steals the show from healthy skin. What can always be found in your makeup bag? Oh, my essentials are always ready to roll: SPF (as my primer and protector), blush for a soft pop of color, a multitasking lip-and-cheek tint, and bronzer. I never go anywhere without a mini fragrance roller (or two) and my mini Barbara Sturm Hy-

drating mist for quick glow-up on the go. Which fragrances are your current favourites? Hermès, Hermès, Hermès. I have six different scents in my rotation, and I love layering them to create a signature vibe. Right now, warm, cozy notes like amber, vanilla, and sandalwood are my go-tos. It’s all about smelling as good as you feel. Evening fragrances are where the drama comes in. I go for deep, sultry scents like oud or patchouli and love mixing my Hermès collection for something unique. It’s all about creating a mood that’s confident, chic, and a little mysterious. Talk us through your hair routine. I’m a Fable

& Mane devotee! Their shampoo and conditioner leave my hair soft and healthy, and their scalp oil is a game-changer. I always use a heat protectant before styling, and a lightweight serum is my secret for that final polished look. Sundays are reserved for deep-conditioning masks because my hair deserves a spa day too.

What is the most unusual item in your makeup bag? A jade roller! It’s not just for my face; I use it for de-puffing, quick glow-ups, and honestly, it’s a fun little ritual that makes me feel extra fancy. Practical and chic – it’s a win-win!

MORNING

Her Highness Sheikha

Mozah Al Maktoum

FIRST ROYAL FEMALE POLICE PILOT

“I am a very active person by nature and while I would not claim to be part of the 5am club, I do wake up early and I like to have time to gather my thoughts for the day ahead, as work can be very demanding. If I can, I try to spend some time with the horses, riding before work or doing a quick workout, all with a generous amount of coffee.”

Khadija Al Bastaki

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, DUBAI DESIGN DISTRICT

“They say that your best day begins the night before. I live by this motto and ensure that I plan each day the night before. That way I start fresh in the morning. It is important to be ready to listen to and work with the members of the creative community, which is why I make sure I speak to the community and tenants each morning. I also like to plan some quiet time for myself for about 15-30 minutes a day which gives me a chance to go through my to-do list. I keep a clear mind in the mornings, so ideas and inspirations flow organically, which energizes me for the whole day and ensures I complete all my tasks.”

Mona Bin Kalli

FORMER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DUBAI LADIES CLUB

“I roll out of bed to make my morning coffee and plot out my daily agenda accordingly. I spend five-ten minutes the night before planning out the next day’s schedule which consists of three main priorities: the time I’ll wake up, my fitness plan and my daughter’s post-school activities.”

Nouf Omar

YOUNGEST FEMALE EMIRATI PILOT

“When I have a flight, the day starts four hours before the departure time which could be anytime in the day or night. I start by

mentally preparing myself for the flight. First, I prepare my coffee and then start reading my documents including the flight plan. I check that I have my flight bag ready with everything. I need and then I’m ready for pick-up.”

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum

EMIRATI INTERNATIONAL SHOW JUMPER

“The first thing when I wake up is to have Canarino, it’s an Italian drink with hot water and lemon peel, and I add paprika to it. Afterwards I drink 750ml of water, staying hydrated is so important. I wake my dogs and head to the stables early to ride. Depending on the weather, I try to ride one or two horses outside before riding the rest inside. Being out in the sun is so important both mentally and physically.”

Faiza Bouguessa

FOUNDER, BOUGUESSA

“In the morning the first thing I do is pray, then I stretch for about 10mins and I drink about a litre of water and write down my goals for the day. On good days, when I wake up earlier, I breathe, meditate and review my long-term goals and read.”

H.E Khawla Al Serkal

DIRECTOR GENERAL, SHARJAH LADIES CLUB

“My morning routine is checking on my girls then my pending messages, get dressed, have a cup of coffee and leave for work.”

Roxie Nafousi

SELF-DEVELOPMENT COACH, INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKER, AND MANIFESTING EXPERT

“My morning routine is all about setting myself up in the best possible way –mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I wake up early (but naturally, I haven’t used

an alarm in years!), and the first thing I do is repeat positive affirmations. This is when my subconscious is most susceptible, so I take advantage of that moment to instill empowering thoughts. Then, I make myself a cup of coffee and enjoy it in peace. I also find 5-10 minutes to meditate, which helps me centre myself and set my intentions for the day. This routine isn’t about perfection; it’s about creating a space where I feel aligned and ready for whatever comes.”

Rebecca Treston

MEDICAL AESTHETICIAN AND LASER SPECIALIST

“My morning usually starts between 5 to 5.30am. I enjoy a quiet cup of coffee before the house wakes up at around 6am. Then it’s on with the gym kit and out the door as weekdays is always busy. I’d love to evolve and get up at 4 to meditate, then journal and have a quiet coffee, but that’s yet to be achieved.”

Salama Mohamed

FOUNDER, PEACEFULL

“The first 30 minutes of my day start off with gratitude journaling. It is a habit that I am proud that I started (and kept at it!), because those brief reflections on moments that I was and am thankful for, have drastically changed how I perceive certain situations and adjust what I should focus on. Afterwards, my AM Peacefull skincare routine is in full swing. I head down to the kitchen for breakfast and spend the rest of my morning with my family until we kick off the day ahead.”

Ingie Chalhoub

FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT ETOILE GROUP

“The start of my day is dedicated to setting a positive and focused tone. I like to begin with a moment of mindfulness, reflecting on the day’s goals and aligning my thoughts. This is then followed by a cup of tea or coffee. After that, I review any urgent emails and messages to check if there are any pressing matters before

RITUALS

50 incredible women tell us how they set up their day for success

completing a quick workout. This routine helps me stay grounded, energised, and ready to tackle whatever the day has to bring.”

Amina Taher

FOUNDER, AT THE AGENCY

“I’m an early riser, I wake up at 5:30 AM, and I prefer to ease into my day rather than rush it. My mornings typically begin with a moment of prayer, a practice instilled in me by my parents, which serves as both meditation and a source of blessing. Following this, I enjoy breakfast – my favourite meal –alternating between a refreshing green juice or orange juice, paired with either eggs on sourdough or a warm bowl of porridge. I then take time to reflect on my day ahead, visualising and strategising my plans.”

Mariam Yehia

CO-FOUNDER, MRS. KEEPA

“I belong to the 5am club. I do my prayers as soon as I wake up, and then make my coffee and sip it while laying down on the living room couch trying to enjoy some “me” time before the kids wake up for school.”

Christiana Maxion

FOUNDER, MAXION

“I hate to say but the first thing I do is reach for my phone. With clients all over the world and a team in all time zones, I check my phone first to see if I need to address anything critical. This is then followed by walking my toy poodle Toby in the garden then a coffee on my terrace with a view of the Burj Khalifa journaling. I journal every single day — my gratitude list, goals, and ways to contribute/ add value to others. The more you give, the more you receive.”

Tatiana Korsakova

FOUNDER, VAARA

“As a founder of a successful business, I truly appreciate the value of a slow morning routine. While my mornings can often be

hectic, especially as a mother of three, I’ve found that starting the day at a relaxed pace can make a significant difference. Even just a couple of minutes of morning meditation or a 10-minute stretch sets a positive tone for the day ahead. I’ve also learned that planning my schedule hour by hour helps me stay organised and focused.”

Tania Santos

FOUNDER, MAISWIM

“The alarm is always set for 7am if my son doesn’t wake me first. My first 30 minutes are pure chaos; between having my son ready for school with a proper breakfast in his tummy – there’s no time for stretching, yoga, or even gym. Just a cup of coffee, if I’m lucky and then my day starts.”

Jessica Sepel

FOUNDER, JSHEALTH

“I always try to start my day on a calm and peaceful note. I don’t have much time…so it’s usually this: 20-minute workout (either yoga, Pilates or I go for a walk), 5-minutes deep belly breathing, coffee, and JSHealth breakfast and supplements. No social media (strictly!) until after my morning routine.”

Dominique Laird

FOUNDER, SO MUCH TROUBLE

“My alarm goes off at 6am, and I fight the urge to hit snooze. My partner, Paul, brings me coffee in bed, which is honestly one of my favourite parts of the day. It’s the simple things amidst the chaos. I have a personal trainer three mornings a week, and on the other days, I do self-led Pilates, functional, and weight training on my balcony overlooking the water, followed by an ice bath. Occasionally, I’ll dance if the music takes me. Then, I get ready for the day, which is always varied. We usually start with board-level meetings to set the agenda, and then I’m out the door. Whether I’m onsite at one of the venues, checking on new projects, sourcing products, or in the office, I

find that how I dress for the day sets the tone: confident, comfy, creative, and empowered.”

Hannah Gaboardi

FOUNDER, HANNAH GABOARDI CLINIC

“My alarm will go off at six in the morning. The first 30 minutes prepares me for the day ahead. I start with a cinnamon latte and check my schedule which is always back-toback with meetings and appointments in the clinic. Caffeine is essential to get me in the zone. I will begin by removing my silk wrap which is an important part of my night-time routine to protect my hair before getting in the shower to carry on my daily hair-care routine using products like Nioxin and Shu Uemura and a quick blow dry before heading out the door in my scrubs. I jump in a black cab and am in the clinic before 8 o’clock every morning to avoid any busy London traffic.”

Aisha BinHendi

FOUNDER, TOI FINE JEWELRY

“As a mother, my priority is my family. Motherly duties are a part of my everyday routine and then I get involved in the dayto-day activities of TOi.”

Shahd AlShehail

FOUNDER, ABADIA

“My day always starts early, usually around 5.30 or 6am. Those first 30 minutes are sacred family time for me, I spend this time with my family and my two kids. Despite the temptation to check work emails or engage in social media, I consciously resist, focusing on being fully present and setting a positive tone for the day ahead.”

Alia Al Khafajy

FOUNDER, OKTA

“In the morning, the first thing I’ll do is start oil pulling with organic coconut oil and then move on to some back stretches to open up my muscles from sleep. I’m currently using the Indie Lee Brightening

Cleanser in the morning because I love the freshness from the strawberry seed extract first thing in the morning. Occasionally, I’ll skip the cleanser and just use warm water and a damp face towel.”

Duha AlRamadhan

FOUNDER, AUBADE JEWELLERY

“I always start my day by checking my phone (which is an extremely bad habit, I know!). I then have some water, a few dates, put on my workout gear, and I go exercise or run. If I don’t exercise first in the morning, I never get it done.”

Tamara Ralph

FOUNDER, TAMARA RALPH

“My partner and I normally bring our twoand-a-half-year old daughter, Haliya, into our bed for morning cuddles before we get out of bed. We then get up and, as I normally fast in the morning, I start my day with sea minerals and green tea before doing Pilates and fitting in some meditation before I go about getting ready for the day.”

Yasmin Al Mulla

ARTIST AND DESIGNER

“My morning routine is a revitalising start to each day. I begin by drinking 500ml of water to hydrate and refresh my body. After a refreshing shower and skincare routine, I savour a warm matcha while planning my day and checking messages. This ritual energises me, ensuring I’m ready to take on whatever the day brings before I head to the office.”

Magda Butrym

FOUNDER, MAGDA BUTRYM

“My day starts with a quick transition from mum to designer. The first few minutes are spent navigating family duties, making sure everyone’s day is off to a good start. Then, I switch gears and head to the studio. There, we have a quick morning gathering; some of us grab coffee, others opt for a light breakfast. It’s a brief but meaningful moment that helps us connect and set the tone for the day’s creative journey.”

Bridie Forster

FOUNDER, BFORE AGENCY

“As a working mother, the first 30 minutes of my day is dedicated to my three children. In an ideal world, I’d exercise every morning as I find it helps with mental clarity and

relieving stress, however time doesn’t always permit this, so I don’t have a set routine. I would love to be the type of person who meditates and starts the day in a calm way, but for now, that is not my reality!”

Buthaina Al Zadjali

FOUNDER, BTHAINA

“I love waking up early as this allows me to plan the day ahead. I then go through my emails and messages, review sketches, design ideas, and meet with my team. I wake up 30 minutes before my kids and start my day with a good cup of coffee while spending five to ten minutes journaling and planning. Once the kids wake up, we all have breakfast together and then I get them ready for school. It’s a bit chaotic once they wake up, but I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Hala Al Shammari

FOUNDER, HALA

“I often start my day by checking my phone. During those early moments, I indulge in scrolling through the brand’s Instagram page and analyse the website’s statistics from the previous day. After this digital deep dive, I enjoy a healthy breakfast then head to the gym. It’s during these moments of exercise that I find myself brainstorming and devising new strategies to enhance the brand’s presence.”

Dilly Groes

FOUNDER, GROES

“I am such a morning person; I am always my most productive in the morning. I usually wake up around 6-6:30am and get some kind of movement in before I walk my dog and am usually at my desk by 8-8:30.”

Natasha De Savary

FOUNDER, DE SAVARY LONDON

“I am a mother of two little girls, so my mornings are very busy from the get-go –getting them dressed, fed and to nursery is the morning priority. My ideal morning is waking up 30 minutes before the girls and having that time for myself to do a quick 20-minute Pilates and enjoy my coffee!”

Shaikha Al Kaabi

CEO, ERTH

“My day begins with a moment of prayer, which sets a tranquil and focused tone. I then engage in light exercise to invigorate

my body and mind. After that, I review my schedule to ensure I am well-prepared for the day’s meetings and projects, including our work at Erth Abu Dhabi, Ecole Ducasse Abu Dhabi Studio, and Erth Al Hosn. This routine reflects our broader organisational values, emphasising mindfulness and preparation. It mirrors our approach to staff development at Erth, where we support both long-standing team members and young Emirati talent in creating a productive and harmonious work environment.”

Pritika Swarup

FOUNDER, PRAKTI BEAUTY

“Despite not being a natural early riser, I ensure I have two to three hours to myself before beginning my workday. My routine starts with a five-minute meditation and a few breathing exercises, followed by a lowimpact workout like Pilates or Core Power Yoga. Afterward, I prepare my CCF tea (cumin, coriander, and fennel) at home –it’s my favourite detox drink. Then I do my skincare routine, starting with Solawave red light therapy and continuing with my daily 4-step skincare regimen (RaniRitual) from Prakti. This routine keeps my skin healthy and radiant! SundaSkin Serum and SapnaSoft Moisturizer are the perfect base for makeup.”

Brittany Small and Mimi Sawedeg

FOUNDERS, SYNKRO

“Our morning routines are our sacred time to set the tone for the rest of the day. Not all mornings start the same but we both aim to connect with ourselves mentally and physically whether it’s through meditation or movement.”

René Fernando Caovilla

FOUNDER, RENÉ CAOVILLA

“I always get up early in the morning, at 7. I do physical activity, have breakfast, and then read the newspapers. I exercise for 30 minutes, four days a week. My routine starts with half an hour of walking outdoors or on the treadmill, followed by some aerobics. Even my breakfast doesn’t change: coffee, toast with honey from my estate in Tuscany, yogurt and fresh fruit with some dried almonds. I go to work by car at my headquarters in Fiesso d’artico, arriving around 8.30. Every day the first thing I do

is go through all the outstanding questions with my assistant and my creative team.”

Nina Briance

FOUNDER, CULT MIA

“From the moment my alarm goes off, I am fully on – I’ve learned to optimise my day to look after my two babies (my 10 month old daughter and Cult Mia!). I throw on my robe, some soothing eye patches and trot to the kitchen to prepare Isabella’s morning bottle and my first of many coffees of the day. These first 30 minutes are a special time in the day for me to spend with Isabella before kicking off my work schedule. I never check my phone during this small window as part of my ritual to find a balance between my personal and professional life.”

Nicoline Durup

FOUNDER, DURUP

“Being a mom to a five-year-old means my day often starts early, around 6am. If it’s not too hectic a morning, my first 30 minutes starts with the essentials: coffee and jazz. I love how jazz can awaken your body and fill your mind with positive vibes for the day. Most recently, I’ve had a crush on the Icelandic jazz singer Laufey and while she is playing in the background, I’ll sip my black coffee in the kitchen, make breakfast for Edith, check my e-mails, and repeat myselfinvented mantra: ‘Chaos makes the muse.”

Sarah Alhashimi

FILM DIRECTOR

“I try to control myself by not jumping straight to my phone as it can be distracting and wasteful. However, I usually fail to restrain myself as I use my phone to check my email and schedule for the day. I then get ready for the day and head to my favourite coffee shop to work from, which is To The Moon and Back.”

Dalia Al Karnous

FOUNDER, DAL

“The first 30 minutes of my day are dedicated to my skin care routine and drinking coffee. Afterwards I like to work out, my favourite workout is boxing.”

Nat Morcos

CO-FOUNDER, GOSHÁ AND SKOONI ARTS FOUNDATION & RESIDENCE

“My daily morning routine is a very

important part of my life, it’s more of a religious, sacred ritual and I often feel if one element of my routine is missing, the day is not going in the right direction.”

Sarah Lindsay

FOUNDER, ROAR FITNESS

“I wake up at 6am and get straight out of bed. I never press the snooze button ever. I drink water next to my bed, wash my face, clean my teeth and get dressed and head straight out for a walk. Usually for about an hour, I get back and make a collagen coffee which I take out onto the grass barefoot for 10 to 15 minutes. I answer my emails over breakfast next. I don’t look at emails or messages until I have done my morning activities. I feel much happier, healthier and able to deal with whatever might come at me once I have given myself that positive start.”

Jenna Meek

CO-FOUNDER, REFY

“Usually, I am up with my daughter enjoying the morning before I get ready for work! I do try and get up a little bit earlier and love to do breathwork or listen to podcasts to get me ready for the day.”

Dina ElShurafa

FOUNDER, REFORM ATHLETICA

“Emails, getting ready for work and coffee!”

Mariam Farag

FOUNDER, HUMANIZING BRANDS AND GLOBAL KEYNOTE SPEAKER

“The first 30 minutes of my day are crucial for setting the tone. I start with a simple routine to ground myself and prepare for the day ahead. I wake up early, usually around 5:30am. The first thing I do is meditate for 5 minutes. This helps me clear my mind and focus on my intentions for the day. After that, I make a cup of coffee and spend some quiet time journalling. I jot down my thoughts, goals, and any creative ideas that come to mind. Finally, I check my calendar and prioritise my tasks for the day. This routine helps me start the day with clarity and purpose.”

Erika Doyle

FOUNDER, DRINK DRY

“My mornings are a beautiful blend of serenity and chaos. With three young girls to get ready for school, it’s all hands on deck. I start my day a good hour ahead of everyone

else in the household. I have discovered a passion for running in the last two years and so at least three times per week, I put my trainers on and I go on an hour-long run around the community. This is my me-time. The time after the kids wake up involves a whirlwind of breakfast prep, helping my daughters get dressed, and ensuring everyone is set for the day. Amidst the hustle, I make it a point to take a few moments for meditation or mindfulness practice. This practice allows me to ground myself and find a sense of calm, which is essential for tackling the day ahead.”

Haya Jarrar

FOUNDER, ROMANI AND ROMANI HOME

“It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I wake up and have my breakfast and then start replying to emails. Other times I meditate or go straight to the beach and start tanning before I go ahead with my day.”

Jennifer Fisher

FOUNDER, JENNIFER FISHER

“My daily morning routine starts with a cup of coffee delivered by my husband, Kevin. It’s sort of a ritual that we’ve started. I’ll text him when I wake up because he’s up earlier and he brings me coffee in bed. Then I pick up my phone and check social media, emails, and work apps to prepare for the day. We are a small business so I’m never not working.”

Ahlam Shahin

FOUNDER, AHLAM SHAHIN

“In the first 30 minutes of my day, I like to take a few deep breaths, have a glass of water and drink a good cup of coffee.”

Captain

Salma Al Baloushi

EMIRATI PILOT

“The first 30 minutes of the day are more productive. I usually wake up, wake the kids and then have a quick shower followed by breakfast.”

Myrna Trad Haddad

AUTHOR AND WOMEN’S RIGHTS ACTIVIST

“I personally love making the bed, opening the blinds, or reading a chapter before I get my day started. You could do a 5-minute stretch, meditate or do a quick workout. As long as you’re moving your body, you’ll wake up faster.”

HEART

Assouline’s perfectly timed book Heart & Love delves into the heart as both an anatomical wonder and a historical symbol, before exploring modern interpretations of love in pop culture, fashion, and beyond. Featuring a chic linen hardcover adorned with a smooth textured heart, it’s perfectly sized for gifting. Editor-in-Chief at Assouline, Martine Assouline, shares her thoughts on the latest addition to the brand’s incredible collection of iconic titles

What was the inspiration behind this title, and how long did it take from concept to execution?

A friend and author initially wanted to create a book exploring the heart as a medical, historical, and symbolic concept throughout the ages. I convinced him to broaden the idea to include what is undeniably the most important and inspirational symbol: love. Eight months later, I held the first copy in my hands. What do you look for in a new title and are there any areas or subjects that have seen increased growth? I look for something that surprises me, something that allows me to discover and learn. My goal is to take a subject and transform it into a truly inspiring book – one that invites people to dream

while uncovering new insights. Since the world changed post-COVID, one significant shift has been in the way we travel and explore. Our travel series has become iconic, offering readers an understanding of the spirit of a place rather than presenting a traditional tourist guide. How do you curate your own library at home? Are there any topics you gravitate toward? Prosper and I are true book lovers. We’re drawn to books by instinct – whether it’s the cover, the author, the theme, or its rarity. When a new book arrives at home, it feels like it becomes part of us. I take great care in finding the perfect spot for it in our collection. What research went into Heart & Love? The

imagery is so varied and stunning – how do you narrow down the selection for a book like this? Creating a book like Heart & Love involves extensive research, a strong visual culture, and meticulous editing. For this particular book, the challenge was balancing imagery of the heart as a symbol with depictions of love. We also incorporated some of the most inspirational love stories from film, literature, and real life to provide a rich and multidimensional perspective. What is something meaningful you’ve received with love? The Elsa Peretti heart from Tiffany, given to me by Prosper with a personalised engraving. It sits on my desk, and I used it for the cover of Heart & Love.

PEACE & LOVE

Tariq Abu Samra and Jaya Arunasalam, co-founders of BloomingBox, share their journey of scaling and sustainability

and featured Ikebana, the art of flower arrangement. Ikebana’s philosophy of “giving life to flowers” really resonated with us, allowing us to embrace a different approach to both design and emotion.

What inspired you to launch BloomingBox?

TS: We both noticed a gap in the market for high-quality, affordable gifting options that also deliver a seamless customer experience. The online gifting industry was largely overlooked at the time, providing us with the opportunity to bring a fresh approach.

JA: I was drawn to the compelling idea that Tariq presented and was eager to explore something outside of the hospitality industry. Which flowers or arrangements add a sense of peace to the home and what would you suggest for Valentine's day? TS: I personally gravitate more towards orchids and plants, such as our mini olive trees.

JA: Our seasonal peonies and sunflowers are favourites for me.

TS: Every collection we create is thoughtfully curated, including a full range of products and a cohesive colour palette. For this year’s Valentine’s collection, we’ve incorporated Arabic calligraphy into some of our assortment boxes. They feature relatable Arabic slang, giving the collection a unique and personal touch.

JA: Absolutely! We offer more than just flowers for Valentine’s Day. Our collections extend to various gifting categories, including hampers and curated collaborations, ensuring there’s something special for everyone. For our Valentine’s collection this year we’ve collaborated with brands including iSTYLE, Damas, Majid Al Futtaim, Bialetti designed by Dolce&Gabbana, Fortnum & Mason, Neuhaus, Lakrids by Bulow and Cinnabon, to name a few. How do you incorporate a modern aesthetic into the arrangements? TS: We always explore different directions and try to push the boundaries of design while keeping balance in mind. For our permanent collection I like to imagine how a collection would look if Apple were to design it. It features monochromatic designs that feel sleek and refined, and then during our seasonal collections we become more experimental and playful. For example, our most recent 2024 seasonal collections were Japanese inspired

JA: We strive to blend modern design principles with the timeless beauty of nature. By incorporating clean, contemporary lines and pairing them with organic, calming floral elements, we create arrangements that are both stylish and soothing. What role do flowers play in creating a tranquil atmosphere in homes or personal spaces? TS: Flowers and plants naturally enhance the air quality in a space by circulating oxygen, which contributes to a more calming and peaceful environment. On an aesthetic level, flowers arranged in a vase or a box bring beauty and warmth to a room. And if you’ve been gifted flowers, there’s an emotional connection too – it’s a reminder of your relationship with that person and how much you mean to them, which can uplift your spirit and bring a sense of joy.

JA: Flowers are nature’s beauty. I recently brought back an Amaryllis Aphrodite bulb from Holland, and watching it bloom into the most stunning flower was such a fas-

me because they truly elevated our designs, while diversifying our offering.

JA: While roses are the highlight this season because of Valentine’s Day, my personal favourites are the seasonal flowers we use throughout March. They play a big role in our Women’s Day and Mother’s Day collections. How do you stand out form the rest of the indutry? TS: BloomingBox is more than just a gifting platform – we act as a design house dedicated to creating memorable pieces. Every product undergoes an intensive process, from ideation and concept development to design and production. Our team carefully considers each detail, including packaging, floral elements, and presentation, to ensure every item embodies our commitment to quality and beauty. Whether it’s a floral arrangement or a curated gift box, BloomingBox designs each piece to make a lasting impact on the gifting experience.

JA: Beyond our products, we prioritise creating a holistic customer experience by examining every step of our customer’s journey and interaction with us. From browsing to delivery, we carefully consider all channels and touchpoints to ensure a seamless and positive experience that resonates with

“Patience is key to maintaining balance in life – making time for yourself, your family, and your work”

cinating experience. It’s that connection to nature that brings tranquility to a space. How does sustainability influence your floral sourcing and practices? TS: We’re mindful about how we use the term “sustainability” because, at the end of the day, harvesting flowers isn’t a fully sustainable practice. However, we actively work to inspire and contribute to building more sustainable relationships.

JA: One of the ways we contribute is by using locally made packaging to reduce our carbon footprint. By supporting local businesses rather than sourcing from abroad. Your arrangements focus on seasonal flowers available, which are your favourite from what is currently in season? TS: Every new collection becomes my favourite because of the creativity and energy that goes into it. If I had to choose, though, my all-time favorite would be last year’s Mother’s Day collection – the colour palette, flower selection, and overall design were incredible. I also have a soft spot for Ramadan 2022, when we introduced a new box color that’s now offered in our permanent collection. The 2024 collections really stand out for

each recipient. Our goal is to make every gift memorable, not just through the product itself, but through the entire process. What’s next in the pipeline for the brand? TS: Global domination, product diversification. BloomingBox isn’t just here to transform the gifting industry, we’re committed to being part of every single emotional transaction and meaningful connection shared between people.

JA: Our current focus is on regional expansion and driving efficiency through automation to scale our operations effectively. This is The Tranquility Issue – how do you protect your peace? TS: Positivity, courage, and celebration is a choice. Every year, I like to set a personal theme, and for 2025, the theme is mindful choices – choosing the right mindset. It’s about more than just habits or the people around us; it’s about intentionally cultivating patience, tranquility, and resilience. Courage, for example, isn’t the absence of fear but rather the choice to face it with strength and purpose.

JA: Patience is key to maintaining balance in life – making time for yourself, your family, and your work.

Self-Care

Co-founders of Paus Club 2.0, Sophiya and Sarah Faizal, share how they have created a sanctuary of wellness in the heart of Dubai

What inspired you to launch Paus Club 2.0? Honestly, it came from a really personal place. Life can feel so fast-paced, and we all need a moment to just pause and breathe. That’s where the idea for Paus started – creating a space where people can step away from the chaos and reconnect with themselves. We wanted to reimagine wellness as something deeper than workouts or diets – a lifestyle that feels meaningful and personal. How have you incorporated your passion for holistic healing at Paus? Holistic healing is at the heart of everything we do at Paus. It’s not about quick fixes or trends; it’s about offering real, sustainable ways for people to feel their best. From our programmes to the way the space is designed, it’s all about helping people find balance – not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. It’s like giving people tools to make life feel a little lighter and more joyful. Can you tell us about your Matcha Mornings sessions? Matcha Mornings are one of my favorite things we do at Paus. It’s such a relaxed and open space where we get to have real conversations about topics that make you think. We’ll chat about everything from personal growth to navigating life’s challenges—all over a cozy cup of matcha or coffee. It’s casual, it’s insightful, and it’s a great way to connect with others who are on similar journeys.

Padel is a growing sport in the UAE – was it a decsion to include this form the outset as you predicted this rise in poularity? Padel felt like a no-brainer for us. It’s fun, it’s social, and it’s such a great way to move your body without it feeling like a chore. We’ve always believed in blending play into wellness, and padel fits perfectly with that. Wellness is one of those things that transcends culture – it’s something we all relate to. At Paus, we’ve tried to celebrate that in so many ways, from the food we serve to the programmes we run. It’s really beautiful to see people from such different backgrounds come together and find common ground here. That’s been part of the dream all along. What’s next in the pipeline for the brand? Phase 2 of Paus Club is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited! We’re gearing up to open the full restaurant and spa, which are going to be such game-changers for the space. The restaurant will focus on fresh, seasonal, and balanced dishes that reflect our philosophy – comforting yet nourishing, with flavours that make you feel at home. And the spa will take our approach to self-care even further, offering treatments

designed for relaxation, recovery, and mobility, all with a focus on enhancing both physical and mental well-being. We’re also launching new programmes and memberships to make wellness more accessible and personalised. These memberships will create a deeper sense of belonging, giving people access to workshops, exclusive events, and even community meet-ups. The goal is to make sure Paus isn’t just a place you visit but a space that feels like an extension of your life – somewhere to grow, connect, and find your balance. This is The Tranquility Issue – how do you keep your peace during testing times? Right now, with everything going on as we’re launching Paus Club, my routine has been my anchor. It’s the one thing keeping me grounded. Morning walks with my dog are my little slice of calm before the day kicks off – it’s such a simple way to reset and clear my mind. And tennis has been a great outlet too. It helps me stay active, release stress, and just have fun amidst the chaos. These moments in my routine have been my way of finding tranquility during such a busy time.

POWER DOWN

WHOOP’s GCC Marketing Director, Stephan Muller, deep dives into data to give a full low-down on sleep and discusses the importance of better shuteye for peak performance

What do the first 30 minutes of your day look like, your morning routine? I’m a very routine focused person so my mornings typically look very similar. I wake up at 6am, hydrate with electrolytes and check my sleep data on WHOOP. I’ll head to the gym, get a workout in and get into the ice bath and sauna. I’ll refuel with a protein shake, have a black coffee, plan out my day in detail, and then get to work!

What are the first tell-tale signs of sleep deprivation? The first signs of sleep deprivation often include fatigue, difficulty concentrating, mood swings, and irritability. You might also notice increased cravings for sugary or high-carb foods, reduced motivation, and slower reaction times. Over time, even small amounts of sleep loss can affect your energy, memory, and overall performance.

What data metrics does WHOOP track to measure a “successful sleep” and how accurate is it? WHOOP tracks several key metrics to measure sleep quality and its impact on recovery. These include sleep duration, sleep performance (sleep duration versus sleep needed), sleep consistency and disturbances, sleep stages (awake, light, deep, and REM), among other key metrics. The WHOOP Sleep Score synthesizes these key indicators to provide a clear picture of how well your sleep supports your body’s recovery and performance. Additionally, metrics like heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate (RHR), and respiratory rate offer insights into how restorative your sleep was for both physical and mental health.

Accuracy is supported by our proprietary algorithm, validated through thirdparty studies. Beyond this, WHOOP offers personalised and actionable insights, empowering members to optimise their sleep habits for better health and performance. For example, the Sleep Planner function offers daily optimal sleep recommendations based on recent activity and performance. WHOOP was purposely-built for sleep. Are there any region-specific findings by WHOOP on sleep patterns and deprivation? Annually we release the WHOOP Year in Review data based on our global member data to provide an overview of key trends and statistics across fitness, recovery and sleep performance. The 2024 findings for the GCC, and in particular the UAE and KSA, reveal a significant sleep deficit. Sharing key findings below:

ity and recovery, despite shorter or less frequent sleep durations. How important is sleep in terms of maintaining a healthy regime? Sleep is the cornerstone of a healthy regime, it fuels recovery, supports peak performance, and impacts overall wellbeing. As fitness trends prioritise recovery-first approaches, sleep has shifted from an afterthought to the foundation of optimal performance and overall health. WHOOP members already use data to identify how habits like late workouts, caffeine consumption, and irregular bedtimes affect sleep, energy levels and recovery. With wearable tech making sleep fitness more accessible, this focus on sleep as a performance driver is only set to grow.

“The combination of late-night culture and insufficient sleep may contribute to both low sleep performance and higher stress levels”

∙ GCC cities dominate the list for the least sleep overall, with Sharjah, Doha Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Dubai ranking as the top six cities with the lowest overall sleep globally. Meanwhile, Sharjah, Jeddah, and Dubai have the lowest sleep performance score.

∙ YIR data seems to suggest a correlation between late-night culture, sleep performance and stress levels: Countries with the latest average bedtimes–Kuwait (2:20am), Saudi (2:19am), and Qatar (1:47am)–also report the latest wake times. Cities in these countries like Jeddah, Riyadh, and Sharjah, which have some of the latest bedtimes, rank among the top six cities globally for the least sleep. Riyadh and Jeddah are the most stressed cities globally, suggesting that the combination of late-night culture and insufficient sleep may contribute to both low sleep performance and higher stress levels.

∙ The UAE ranks third lowest globally in sleep performance, with an average score of 74 per cent, following Singapore (73 per cent) and India (71 per cent). Sharjah, Jeddah, and Dubai top the global list for lowest sleep performance.

∙ The UAE stands out for having the highest REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep percentage rank, suggesting that when members in the UAE do sleep, they spend a significant amount of time in restorative sleep which can still have positive effects on mental clar-

What lifestyle choices should we be incorporating to improve this? Improving sleep starts with small, intentional lifestyle adjustments. Consistency is key – establishing a regular bedtime and wake-up routine helps regulate your body’s internal clock. Avoiding caffeine in the afternoon, limiting late-night screen time, and creating a sleep-friendly environment – like a cool, dark, and quiet room – can significantly enhance sleep quality. Stress management and mindfulness are also emerging as critical pillars of health, directly influencing sleep quality and overall recovery. WHOOP helps users monitor stress levels through metrics like heart rate variability (HRV) and recovery scores, empowering them to understand how habits impact resilience and readiness. In high-stress regions like the GCC, where WHOOP member data reveals cities like Riyadh and Jeddah rank among the most stressed globally, taking time for mindful moments of rest to reset and connect can prove invaluable. Tracking sleep and stress levels through wearable technology combined with healthy habits can help provide an accessible and holistic approach to overall well-being. What elements of the bedroom are key for a good night's sleep? For good sleep hygiene: 1. Darken your room with blackout curtains for optimal sleep quality. 2. Limit screen time 30 minutes before sleep to promote faster sleep onset. 3. Use blue light glasses up to three hours before bed to prevent screens from delaying melatonin release, the hormone that helps you sleep. 4. Reduce caffeine intake, especially after lunch, and opt for warm milk or herbal tea. 5. Use your bed exclusively for sleep to train your body for quicker sleep initiation. 6. Refrain from alcohol at least three hours before sleeping to prevent disruptions in REM sleep. 7. Yoga, stretching or meditation, 10-15 minutes of gentle movement can help calm your mind and heart preparing you for bed. 8. Set your bedroom temperature to between 15-19 degrees Celsius (60-67 degrees Fahrenheit), allowing your body temperature to drop which is part of the natural process of falling asleep. What is your attitude to sleep? A pleasure or more of a necessity? It’s a combination of both. I truly enjoy a good night’s sleep, but I’m also deeply aware of the importance of high-quality sleep for my recovery, energy and clarity the next day. I’ve always prioritised sleep and it’s the best decision I’ve made for my health.

This is The Tranquility Issue – what habits, tools, and mindset do you use for an inner sense of calm? I’m a big believer in going to sleep with a clear and calm mind. It doesn’t just help me go to sleep quicker, but also get better quality sleep. The three habits that help me with this sense of calm are: 1. Disconnect from anything that can over stimulate my mind – mainly work; 2. A 20-minute meditation where I breathe deeply, sit with my thoughts, reflect on my day, and ease into a relaxed state; 3. I like using calming incense that signals to my body and mind that it’s time to wind down.

PERSONAL SPACE

In the office of Ali Hassoun, founder of PEAQ

WORDS: CAMILLE MACAWILI

How long have you been in this space? I’ve been deeply involved in the wellness space since 2019, starting with my own journey into natural therapies like cold water therapy. Over time, this passion grew and led me to the creation of PEAQ in 2024, with the goal of reshaping wellness in the region and making it more social and meaningful for everyone. Have you custom-built any bespoke pieces? Yes, we’ve custom-built several bespoke pieces to make PEAQ feel welcoming and social. Our circular seating and communal tables were designed specifically to encour-

age connection and conversation, bringing people together in a relaxed, inviting way. For those who prefer a bit of privacy, we’ve also created smaller nooks where members can unwind in peace. The design team, led by Arnaldo Puglia of DNA Associates, also incorporated natural elements like greenery and wood, keeping things grounded while still offering a modern feel. These details help create a space that’s both social and peaceful, just like PEAQ itself. How do you think the interior reflects you? The interior of PEAQ reflects my personal

journey and my vision for wellness as a shared experience. It’s a representation that wellness isn’t just about personal recovery –it’s also about community and connection. The use of natural materials and thoughtful lighting brings a sense of calm, while the communal spaces show my passion for creating meaningful relationships. The design blends Dubai’s fast-paced energy with a peaceful retreat, offering a spot where people can pause, reset, and reconnect. Describe your taste in three words. Forwardlooking, grounded, and inclusive.

WORDS: CAMILLE MACAWILI

Hydrotherapy is making a comeback with wellness entrepreneurs debuting concepts centered on the therapeutic powers of water. Here, we’re making a shortlist of escapes for some well-deserved dips, from Switzerland to Japan.

WALDSPA AT NATURHOTEL FORSTHOFGUT –LEOGANG, AUSTRIA

Off the ski slopes and amongst the impressive Leogang Rocky Mountains lie Forsthofgut, a luxurious scenic retreat that puts the focus on therapeutic waters. Right in the middle of a garden, this unique property is surrounded by meadows and forests. At the heart of this tranquil oasis is a 30,000-square-meter bathing lake and a lake infinity pool that delivers pure relaxation all-year long. There is also the Finnish lake sauna that is part of this unique place of power and ritual that comes with a panoramic window and direct mountain views.

HOSHINOYA –TOKYO, JAPAN

At the luxurious hotel chain — owned by hospitality group Hoshino Resorts and designed by the renowned Tokyo-based architect Rie Azuma — the concept of onsen or natural geothermal pools are designed to induce a zen-like sense of calm in the middle of a hustling and bustling city. In this highrise ryokan in Tokyo, the Otemachi Onsen at Hoshinoya features a salty hot spring where guests can enjoy a restorative dip to alleviate a fatigued body and mind, with striking views of the Tokyo skyline.
