WE’RE ENTERING A NEW ERA IN DUBAI
I’m calling it now. The mass exodus from the city as mercury rises is no longer. Sure, some people will be heading off on holiday eager to beat the heat, others will use their annual leave to return home for a week or two to embrace some much-needed family time. But the era of see-you-in-sixweeks and packing-everything-minus-the-kitchen-sink for a multi-month trip is finished.
I have to say I’m not mad about it. I rather enjoy summer in Dubai. All of the attractions and experiences that I typically file under ‘only for tourists’ are not only quieter, but they typically offer brilliant discounts for UAE residents. Then there are all the staycation deals, amazing indoor venues we typically forgo for alfresco ones, and a welcome opportunity to enjoy an overall slightly slower pace of life. And the more people who join me, the merrier.
If you’re new to the summer in Dubai club, welcome. If you’re a returning member, it’s great to have you back. To keep you busy through these summer weeks, we’ve put together 26 fabulous ways to beat the heat in Dubai. Our cool box of ways to ensure the rising temperatures don’t get you down features epic indoor activities, wallet-friendly summer deals, inspiration for new hobbies and so much more to keep boredom at bay. Start planning your summer from p14. But we don’t have to say a complete farewell to outdoor daycations. From their lofty perches, Dubai’s impressive collection of rooftop pools offer breezier temperatures and panoramic vistas that allow you to keep pool days on the agenda. Dive in from p26.
