MAY 2021 READERS RIDES
Here are the best things in my life. First, the girl that owns my heart, my daughter Rebecca, and her 2 babies Sugar and Karma. I put them in the pics so there would be true beauty in it. Oh yeah and the reason for this mail, the bike. Sorry I Got carried away there lol. A 2018 Freeborn's Chop Shop Hellbent chopper. A mildly built Harley Evo, 200 rear, and just enough of everything else to make it really work right. Dropseat hardtail that rides like a softail and is some kind of fun. Thankx. Todd

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
So, the last couple Editorials I’ve written have been haranguing dealerships and shops about hosting events, getting creative and involved; and more importantly getting people their children involved in motorcycling. At least draw them in to experience it. The thrill will do the rest. So, I’ve already shared that and still I just cannot emphasize it enough. We know the kids are the future of motorcycling. They are the future, period. Several major manufacturer’s are now marketing balance bikes. It’s so obvious. Get up and grab your market and take that slice! Ok, moving on. The rest of this column is aimed at all of you private motorcycle entities, clubs, associations or whatever motorcycle related thing you may be like diners, campgrounds and so on. May is literally CHOCK full of holidays in both official and unofficial designations. Some, but probably not all (non religious) official holidays are listed here. How many did you plan to not cash in on? Likely all if your honest with yourself. May 2021 Official Holidays: Cinco De Mayo 5th, National Nurses Day 6th, Mother’s Day 9th, Peace Officers Memorial Day 15th, Armed Forces Day 15th, National Maritime Day 22nd, and of course Memorial Day. Some of these may seem counter intuitive, but think outside the helmet a moment. How cool would it be if a group of you arrived at your local hospital and gave beautiful artificial arrangements (no allergies, pollen etc) and/or local business gift cards to your friendly local neighborhood nurses? What if you get organized and share respect with any of these groups? Wouldn’t that be the kind of a (pardon me) shot in the arm and notoriety our little segment of America needs so desperately WWW.MOTORCYCLETIMES.COM
right now? Of course, Lone Wolves can do this too. Pent Up Demand is real. Face it, for the first time in perhaps decades people are stripping the lots of motorcycles both new and used. The free market has old motorcycles growing weeds asking $500 to $1000. It’s called pent up demand. But what about June? Here are June’s ideas to take action on. Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, Beautiful in Your Skin Month. Cataract Awareness Month, Child Vision Awareness Month, National Accordion Awareness Month, National Aphasia Awareness Month, National Camping Month, National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month, National Pollinators Month, National PTSD Awareness Month, National Scoliosis Awareness Month, National Zoo and Aquarium Month, Potty Training Awareness Month, Rebuild Your Life Month, Scleroderma Awareness Month, Turkey Lovers Month...clearly if you like to raise money for a worthy cause June is also packed with opportunities. If all these seem like not much fun, then just get creative. Come up with something of your own. Create a run centered around huge fuzzy dice, the Magic Eight Ball, a kids card game instead of poker hands. Here are some tips. Notify the local newspapers to get free coverage of your charity event, offering free food, drinks and entry to the reporter works wonders. Have a member on the local AM morning talk shows as a guest to further spread the positive words. This can often be literally “phoned in”. Lastly, I’m not just blowing hot air either. This magazine offers our Facebook MOTORCYCLE EVENTS PAGE HERE so any charity not for profit event can be advertised. So, get your members together and help ensure motorcycling not just survives, but thrives. 4
