ALESSANDRO FAMULARO KARTING DRIVER
THE DRIVER
Alessandro Famularo started his racing career at the tender age of four years old. Starting out in the Baby Category (Birel-Comer) in Venezuela he soon joined the South American series (Colombia,Uruguay,Equador etc) finishing the season in 3rd place. After which Alessandro joined the Rotax series in a Top Kart Chassis winning his maiden championship and finishing his second year in 2nd place just behind his twin brother Anthony. In 2009 Anthony switched over to the mini category and went on to win the South American championship in Denver, Colorado. While racing in the south American Series Alessandro simultaneously competed in the Italian Easy Kart Series scoring a few podiums. Alessandro went on to join the ROC Cup U.S.A. winning outright the Mini ROK Category. In 2016 Famularo went on to join the IAME X30 Challenge in an EVO Kart winning the European Final. After laying the foundation in the MINI category he moved up into the JUNIOR Category garnering Pole position in Sienna (Italy), attending the IAME International Final in Le mans as well as the competing in the Final ROK Cup in Lonato. The 2017/2018 racing season see’s Alessandro as a factory driver for Birel Art, in the OKJ category set to race the prestigious WSK and CIK FIA European Championship.
BIREL ART
Any racing team has its DNA, being the result of the mixture of its history, its people, the defeats it faced and the successes it enjoyed. Birel ART is the result of the evolution of the DNA of two historical companies in the motorsport world: Birel and ART Grand Prix. Both Birel and ART Grand Prix shared common tastes for performance, for perfection and for success. What the merger of Birel and ART Grand Prix created is a brand new training ground for talented young drivers willing to step-up to the top of the motorsport ladder. Bringing ART Grand Prix high level of competitiveness up to the top of the racing pyramid to Birel’s tradition and know-how in go-kart provide the whole Birel ART project with new paths for innovations having for aim to be faster, more efficient, closer to perfection and always ahead. Management policy always oriented towards joining tradition and innovation, always putting the unconditional search for quality as its top priority along with maximum attention to the needs of the user in every segment of the market. The production organization provides for four departments located in a surface area of over 6.000 square meters. Production, like the racing department, can consider itself one of the greatest expressions of excellence in the entire karting sector due to the use of maximum technology machinery and the best professionals. The new Birel ART venture has merged Birel’s great tradition, made of 55 World and European titles, its technologically advanced manufacturing capability and organizational experience, and the very successful racing DNA of ART Grand Prix, the only racing team present at all levels of the motorsport ladder leading to Formula 1 – from Karting to Formula Renault 2.0, GP3 and GP2 Series.
THE OKJ KART
Nevertheless a successful race season and the enthusiastic feedback received from all our dealers and drivers, BIREL ART has worked even harder to further improve our karts and related components aiming at increasing drivability and performances without changing the technical characteristics and baseline of the 2016 models. The initial that characterizes the new models for 2017 will be S8-B. RY29-S8-B Homologation 33/CH/20 It confirmed its simplicity and versatility in particular for the Junior category; the RY29 has undergone some structural & look updating to improve the performance and utilize. RY30-S8-B Homologation 32/CH/20 The kart RY30-S8, was been confirmed during the 2016 season in all the world and in all the categories; it is very versatile and very performant; it has been updated for the most in the look and small improvements in the accessories but not in the structural as the good feedback of our drivers and result obtained. RY32-S8-8 Homologation 24/CH/17 The RY32-S8-B has been updated in geometry and the materials to be more versatile and more suitable for a great use into the different categories that use medium-hard tires.
THE SERIES
WSK Champions Cup. This year it’s the fourth edition, the WSK Champions Cup will once again in the racing season. After the first two years at la Conca (featuring two event), a single events has been confirmed for 2017 at last’s year venue: the Adria Karting Raceway. WSK Super Master Series. Eight season for the series that, more then any other, represents the “trademark” of WSK Promotion. The first of four events that will take two months to award the championship titles wil be held at Adria, the weekend immediately following the WSK Champions Cup. After the first Round the competitors will move on to Castelletto di Branduzzo, Muro Leccese and Sarno. WSK Final Cup. Ten months after the “start”, WSK is back at Adria for a double event fo the Final Cup. Now in its seventh edition (the fourth at Adria after the premiere in Ortona) the series will be held over two consecutive week ends and i twill be the last chance for all the drivers to make their mark on the international karting season.
THE SERIES
CIK FIA European Championship The European title is the main event of the new season of CIK FIA races organized by WSK Promotion. The busiest classes will be OK and OKJ, whose schedule includes 5 Rounds. The KZ class will have 4 rounds (one more then last year) and the KZ2 will have 3 rounds, as in 2016.
CIK FIA World Championship Confirmed, for 2017, the triple world titles, all assigend in just one race. The KZ class event held in Germany then, two weeks later, will be the turn of the OK and OKJ classes which will head to England, at PF International track.
