WELCOME TO MOTORSPORTDAYS.LIVE s a passionate and competitive motorsport racer it always amazed me that there was such a massive disconnect between the exhibitors and any time on track at major motorsport shows. Action on the track is the lifeblood of our sport and should be central to any motorsport event – be it a race meeting or a trade show. So I am especially delighted to write this welcome to the first MotorsportDays.LIVE show, at the home of British motor racing, Silverstone. This two-day show delivers a new and previously unseen opportunity for industry specialists to come together. By filtering out the fan element, MotorsportDays.LIVE is focusing solely on a professionally engaged audience, consisting of amateur and professional drivers, championship co-ordinators, engineers, genuine track day enthusiasts, motorsport investors and performance car buyers. To then include a unique opportunity to sample vehicles and products LIVE on the track means that this show can offer a previously unseen level of engagement for both exhibitors and visitors. This “try before you buy” option for a wide array of race championships and race teams will not only increase driver sign-up and involvement in championships and independent race teams

but enhance sales and business opportunities too. Add in an interactive conference across both days of the show, delivering expert advice from some of the industry’s most established names, and MotorsportDays.LIVE ticks all the boxes for amateur and pro drivers alike. This particular sector of the show offers support across all areas of the sport, including assistance with technical setups, attracting sponsorships, marketing and media engagement, plus legal guidance and so much more. The overarching aim of MotorsportDays. LIVE is to celebrate all aspects of our amazing industry, with the overall objective to make getting on track easier, as well as help improve our preparation for the new season. My hope is that everyone leaves Silverstone feeling inspired, prepared and in a better position to grab that podium place in 2019.

s the new CEO of the Motor Sports Association, I’m delighted to give the MSA’s support to MotorsportDays.LIVE! This innovative show fully endorses the MSA’s own ethos: to promote and grow participation in motorsport from the grassroots level upwards. The opportunity to try before you sign up to a season’s racing is really innovative, and it seems incredible that adding track time to a motorsport show has not been done before.
A
I spent 10 years in motorsport management with Prodrive and BAR-Honda, in an earlier part of my career, and so know only too well the importance of understanding all aspects of motorsport –
from technology to communications. So, the combination of conference, track time and exhibitor engagement here at MsD.LIVE delivers vital tools and contacts to enable all drivers – be they LMP2 or Caterham competitors – the opportunity to get closer to that all-important podium finish. I wish Ben Whibley and the BWR Media team every success at this inaugural motorsport show here at the home of British motor racing, Silverstone, and hope that all visitors will leave here with more ammunition to work their way up the grid in the 2019 motorsport season.

GARAGE 41 MSD TECHNICAL SETUP AND LIVE RACE CAR BUILD This feature garage is split into two parts. The first offers you the chance to learn in our technical setup area with half day sessions dedicated to improving your knowledge on how to better maintain your track or race car. The second element is a live racecar build several universities will go against the clock and construct a vehicle for the duration of the event with the aim to take them on track at the end of the show. KARUN CHANDHOK PUTS MOTORSPORTDAYS.LIVE INTO GEAR acing supremo Karun Chandhok – Formula 1 racer, Le Mans driver and Formula E competitor – will officially open MotorsportDays.LIVE on Friday 2 November. Not only will he cut the proverbial ribbon on this innovative event but is expected to head out on track at Silverstone to lead the way for all visiting drivers who are planning to blast up the International Circuit over the two-day show.

Karun Chandhok may be part of a very exclusive club of only two Indian Formula 1 drivers but was born into a motor racing family. His father, grandfather and grandmother used to race! After winning the Indian National Championship on

Since 2012, he has been competing in sportscars, becoming the only Indian to ever compete in the iconic Le Mans 24 Hour race. His impressive record in this tough race, famed for its high attrition rate, registers that Karun has finished in the top six in class in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Karun also added Formula E to his motorsport CV in its inaugural season, driving for Mahindra Racing.

his debut in 2000, Karun went on to win the Formula Asia Championship the following year. A move to England saw him become a front-runner in Formula 3, before returning back to Asia to win the Asian Renault V6 series in 2006. This served as the perfect launchpad up to GP2 and then the ultimate goal, Formula 1. Since 2016, Karun has been a regular driver and consultant for the Williams Formula 1 team’s Heritage brand. He works closely with the team to expand this side of the Williams motorsport business as well as testing their Formula 1 cars. Karun has further expanded his historic racing CV by regularly competing at the Goodwood

Revival. Earlier this year, he registered the fastest lap at the Revival, behind the wheel of a McLaren M1A. Today Karun has established himself as a commentator and analyst for motorsport, working with five different global Formula 1 broadcasters. This includes being part of the Channel 4 team for their Formula 1 broadcast. He is also a regular columnist for Autosport and Motorsport, plus a host of Indian news channels. Karun has also held consultancy roles with Bernie Ecclestone and Formula 1 Management, as well as the Jaypee Group on the Indian Grand Prix. In addition, he worked with Nissan on managing the GT Academy
programme in India, with the Tata Group on the T1 Truck Racing Series, with JK Tyre on a variety of programmes, with Formula E Holdings and the Mahindra Group on the initial entry of the team to the series. He is also a consultant to the circuit design company, Driven International, whose founder, Ben Wilshire will be talking here on Friday afternoon in the Future of the Race Circuit conference session. This former Formula 1 racer has also moved in racing management, overseeing the racing careers of sibling duo Arjun and Kush Maini. It was Karun who negotiated Arjun’s agreement to be a development driver with the Haas Formula 1 team. In 2013, Karun became a

member of the FIA Driver’s Commission and is clearly perfectly placed to represent the rights and views of drivers from across the world. No less competitive, Karun also runs an annual charity event, Karun’s Karting Carnival, here in the UK to raise funds for the education of underprivileged children in India. WHEELS OF REVOLUTION
REVOLUTION RACECARS TO UNVEIL ITS FIRST CAR AT MOTORSPORTDAYS.LIVE isitors to MotorsportDays.LIVE, the innovative motor show that blends on-track time with static exhibitor stands, is the perfect venue to launch a very new kid on the motorsport block. This is The Revolution, a twoseater racecar from Revolution Racecars. This may be the marque’s first model but what makes it more newsworthy is that it weighs in at just 675kg. That is around 25kg lighter than a Zenos E10 S and only 115kg heavier than a Caterham 360R.

Revolution Racecars is headed by Radical Sportscars co-founder Phil Abbott, who will also be at MotorsportDays.LIVE in person from 10am on the Friday morning to talk in detail about his latest project. Joining him on the conference stage will
be James Bailey, the promoter for the BARC Sports Prototype Cup in which The Revolution is expected to star. This lightweight racer has been designed by a Brit, Simon Cox and when the first artistic drawings were revealed in the motorsport media, Phil Abbott told Autocar that it was a mix of Le Mans Prototype technology with reliable running gear. The car will use a carbon fibre structure made in Germany, using the latest carbon infusion process for minimum weight and maximum structural rigidity. Power is delivered from Ford-sourced 3.7-litre V6 with a dry sump. This power source is expected to find 305hp and will offer “proven reliability” – Revolution believes this motor can do more than 6,000 miles, or 100 hours of racing, before

it will need to be rebuilt. Add in a six-speed sequential transmission, supplied by motorsport specialist 3MO, and this lightweight beast will be raring to go. MAZDA RX-8 OWNERS PREPARE FOR NEW CSCC CLASS
he Classic and Sports Car Club (CSCC) will be launching its first, one-make race class for the Mazda RX-8 at MotorsportDays.LIVE. This competitive class, the RX-8 Trophy, will be first raced for in 2019 and will cater for road-legal examples of the series-one coupe, which was built from 2003-08.

It will run as a class within the CSCC New Millennium series, joining a field of post-2000 production cars. This means it will share the New Millennium’s 40-minute, mandatory-pitstop and one/ two-driver format. It will also run to a heavily restricted set of regulations as it is intended to offer value, entry-level motorsport.
CHAMPIONSHIP LAUNCH
Club Director David Smitheram said: “I am aware of the barriers that stop people racing. It’s usually a combination of time, money and space. Hopefully this is the answer to all three.” A sub 30-hour build time is expected, plus a total cost of between £4,000 and £5,000 for a ready-to-race car. All entrants will retain the road car’s 231bhp rotary engine and rear-wheeldrive configuration, as well as the heater, air conditioning and stereo. Headed up by Alan O’Neill, SCU Motorsport works with universities and colleges to help them provide valuable and real motorsport experience to support their college studies. In addition to this live BMW build, the students will have to prepare and perform set-up and maintain the car throughout next year’s season. You cannot get more hands on than that! SCU Motorsport is also developing a single-seater race series specifically for colleges and universities. This will allow them to compete on an even footing against other education establishments, rather than competing against teams who have significantly higher budgets and more experience. Equally importantly, this new race series will also be linked to a further education qualification and there is scope within the series to allow for design and development, which supports higher education (HE) requirements.
The colleges and universities that are participating in this BMW rebuild are: Shrewsbury College; Nottingham College; Walsall College; BCA College, Reading; Stockport and Manchester College and Huddersfield University Motorsport Group. The organisers are also hoping that students from Bolton University and Purdue University in the USA may also attend. So head down to Garage 41 during your visit and show your support. F1 DRIVER 2007-2011 Part of a very exclusive club of only two Indian Formula 1 drivers. and a multiple race winner and podium finisher in GP2, Karun Chandhok was a test driver for the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team in 2007 and 2008, before going on to race in Formula 1 for Hispania Racing and Team Lotus in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Since 2012, he has been competing in Sportscars, becoming the only Indian to ever compete in the iconic Le Mans 24 hour race. FORMER F1 TECHNICAL DIRECTOR Gary Anderson came into the sport entirely without qualifications, starting as a humble mechanic and ending up as one of Formula 1’s most admired technical designers. He has been involved with six different Formula 1 teams and was a key player at Jordan, designing and developing all of its cars over eight seasons. Gary also did two stints in IndyCar and he was a manufacturer in his own right, producing several versions of the Anson single-seaters.

Dynamometer Test Cell Facility Hub Dynamometers are a radical departure from the conventional roller dyno - with a hub dyno you have total control of the vehicle as the dyno is coupled direct to the output hubs therefore minimising inertia - allowing much greater control - more accuracy and an increased level of repeatability. Our purpose built facility is ideal for OEM’s – Race Teams – R&D specialists The facility is suited to incar engine performance, calibration and validation testing – Engine development testing & Powertrain testing.

Each confirmed private garage allows 3 cars on track per its respective sessions - up to 6 cars will be active and on display in each garage over the two days. *LMP, and Single seater/open wheel sessions are strictly MSA licence holders only with previous experience (or at the discretion of the championship organiser or race team owner). **Downtime will be allocated accordingly throughout the day(s) and will be used if necessary for any delays on track. Due to the nature of a LIVE track this is just a provisional schedule ahead of the event as all sessions and timings are subject to change based on the days on going activities. All sessions will be subject to light and visibility throughout both days. Both days will be run under track day conditions, overtaking will only be with consent, racing each other is strictly forbidden, any such activity will see drivers and teams removed from the event without hesitation.
