The UK’s leading fleet accreditation scheme, FORS, is a voluntary scheme for operators of all types. The scheme is designed to raise standards by mandating a best practice focus on safety, efficiency and environmental protection.

Operators are regularly audited and encouraged to progress from Bronze through to Gold accreditation. The scheme has more than 15 years of experience and serves 4,700 accredited operators, representing circa 94,000 vehicles.

Its comprehensive professional portfolio offers free, funded or discounted training, and is like no other across the industry. It boasts a range of training courses that have dedicated pathways for drivers and fleet managers.

The jewel in the crown is the practitioner programme, a set of 15 modules that cover all aspects of fleet management. FORS practitioners gain an understanding of how to manage a modern fleet operation, receiving certification when they complete 10 out of the 15 modules; to date, more than 3,200 managers have graduated from the practitioner programme.

The scheme has an array of online materials, including toolkits, toolbox talks and guides, and its dedicated helpline assists operators with accreditation, audits and general support.

This year it is set to offer more benefits for accredited operators. The scheme’s flagship project – Future of Accreditation – has been devised to remove unnecessary complexity and to create transparency in audit and quality assurance processes, ultimately delivering a high-quality customer experience. It will therefore be more accessible, have simpler routes to accreditation and will be easier to understand.
