Did Norman Rockwell Visit Davidson?
M
y family is coming to my house this year for the holidays. OMG! My first one and I’m a bit ner vous. Planning fun things to do in my little town, however, is kind of a no-brainer. Davidson is the epitome of a Norman Rockwell town. Christmas time is magnificent with the streets lined with lantern lights, garland, carolers, and horse-drawn carriage rides. One of my favorite treats is sipping Mestizo’s Mexican Hot Chocolate while I wander the streets and boutique shops looking for that perfect gift for my sister.
Christmas in Davidson is a great event to bring your friends and family to enjoy. They close the roads, and the sidewalks are covered with vendors selling there wares and crafts. Hot Apple Cider fills the air, Santa is taking names and making his list of the naughty and the nice. Christmas in Davidson Nov. 29th – Dec. 1st The Town Of Davidson, N.C. www.ci.davidson.nc.us

Wanna Jingle In Person?
S
o, I’m browsing the boutique communities in NC and came across one that I just love. Roxboro has the tagline “Everything is better in Person” Roxboro is in “Person” County. I grab my husband, girlfriend, and her boyfriend and we went off to explore! We arrived in town and began roaming down the main street. The guys took off to the disc golf course, and us gals stopped into a few shops and picked up several gifts to take off the Christmas Shopping list. While we were shopping, we stumbled across Black Creek Brewer y and popped in for a flight, and we were genuinely impressed.
While we were chatting with folks at the brewery we were told of an event coming up on December 6th called “Jingle on Main” where we can take a horse-drawn wagon ride around town to take in the sights, see the lighting of the Christmas Tree and all the other festivities. I’m looking forward to enjoying hot cocoa and some hot apple cider, what an adorable little town. We ended our evening at Heirloom Restaurant with an incredible meal. Home, Heart & Soul Designs
L
et’s admit it, gif t-gi v ing is impossible amongst adults. Children are easy, they know exactly what they want. When people reach age 18, the challenge begins. As an adult myself, I have finally figured out what I like, and my fantasy begins at Home, Heart and Soul Designs. Please do not call it a “gift shop,” it is so much more than that. Can you find gorgeous, unique items? Yes. Can you procure the finest accessories? Yes. Can you find a qualified decorator, who can bring style, life, and culture into your home? Yes. There is no other store in the Lake Norman area that can provide the finest items, and also tell you where to place them in your home. I was born and raised in Cornelius, North Carolina. I have an attachment to the town. Home, Heart and Soul Designs has been local as long as I have. The first Christmas that I had my own money, I bought my Mother a scented candle from that particular store. However, my story doesn’t matter. Home, Heart and Soul Designs is among the rare

things that last in a small, southern town. Things evolve, people evolve, ideas evolve. The local gift shop I knew as a child has become a powerhouse of style, ambition, and design. As Maya Angelou said, “pursue the things you love, and do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.” If that resonates with you, then visit the wonderful people of Home, Heart and Soul Designs - if only because they do what they love so well. – Kara McMillian karaelyslew@gmail.com
