he city of Eden is already a favorite destination for hikers, bicyclists, canoes, and kayakers. Now Eden is home to the second of three breweries o n t h e R o ck i n g h a m C o u n t y Spirit Trail. Reynolds brewer y is owned b y C h i p a n d To n y R e y n o l d s , and is family operated. Chip is p ro u d t o c a l l E d e n h i s h o m e. For 25 year s, Chip has wanted t o o p e n a b r e w e r y, b e i n g a h o m e b rewe r s i n c e t h e 1 9 9 0 s . With a great deal of planning a n d h e l p, C h i p f o u n d t h e perfect location in the old Fi e l d c r e s t M i l l s Wat e r Wo r k s building along the Dan River. The building is beautifully restored to include a brewing f acility, taproom, event space, and a large outdoor deck. The event space is excellent for company gatherings or special events and has its own private bar. Even if you’re not planning an event right now, take a peek at the space when you drop by,

The Spirits Are Alive In Burke County This October
S
outh Mountain Distiller y curates the best kind of spirits, based on generations of practice here in Burke County. Don Smith, a 4th generation moonshiner, opened the distiller y in 2016 after years of operating other businesses, as a way to embrace his roots. He wanted to make traditional moonshine, sticking to his f amily’s recipes, and to teach p e o p l e a l l ab o u t t h e h i s t o r y of bootlegging in the South M o u n t a i n a r e a o f We s t e r n Nor th Carolina. This grew into a large-scale operation in their Connelly Springs Distiller y and retail shop, where he now sells 10+ different spirits, each with their own distinct flavor. Many have been made with the help of other moonshiners, such a s J B R a d e r, wh o wa s a go o d

Ryan Jacques designed & built this tiny house from the ground u p t o we l c o m e i n d iv i d u a l s , g r o u p s , o r f a m i l i e s a n d g ive them a unique cycling theme experience. If you have a huge group the house has a basement apartment that is not attached, but it’s right next to the fire pit, and private mountain bike track. It is really neat to discover all of the fine detail that has been put into this home that makes you feel good about staying there.

It is certified “Green Built” and “Energy Star.” The home construction is mostly reclaimed materials from other job sites. Absolutely nothing inside the home looks recycled. Annual Oaks Festival In Mocksville

our family can enjoy a full day of free fun d u r i n g t h e a n nu a l O a k s Festival. The festival is held in historic downtown Mocksville on the second Saturday in October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with our crafters while the music plays on until 8 p.m. that evening. There is something for ever yone: handcrafted goods, a r t , a n d fo o d ve n d o r s , l o t s o f free kids’ activities including a “decorate your own pumpkin” with a flair and live concer ts all day. Music and the Kids area are FREE. Crafts, food, and the kids’ area are set up along Main Street and run down Depot Street leading to the entertainment area and outdoor stage. Make sure you bring your own chair for seating and please, no coolers. Beverages and alcohol beverages will be available for purchase.
