Welcome to Portugal Portugal é um dos mais antigos países da Europa. The land within the borders of the current Portuguese Republic has been continually fought over and settled since prehistoric times. The Celts and the Romans were followed by the Visigothic and the Suebi Germanic peoples, who were themselves later invaded by the Moors. These Muslim peoples were eventually expelled during the Christian Reconquista of the peninsula. By 1139, Portugal established itself as a kingdom independent from León. In the 15th and 16th centuries, as the result of pioneering the Age of Discovery, Portugal expanded western influence and established the first global empire, becoming one of the world's major economic, political and military powers. The Portuguese Empire was the longest-lived of the modern European colonial empires, spanning almost 600 years. Almost 1000 years of history by the Atlantic sea under the warm sun of south of Europe, resulted in one of the world's most globalized, peaceful, safe and responsive nations. Desde 2009 a equipe de guias da MotoXplorers tem desenvolvido o projecto “Portugal Best Riding Roads”. Rodámos milhares de quilómetros que percorreram Portugal de Norte a Sul com o único objectivo de reunir uma colecção com as melhores estradas e roteiros do país para desfrutar com uma moto. Portugal Premium Tour é o primeiro resultado deste projecto que conta com a parceira da BMW Motorrad Portugal e do Turismo de Portugal.
Since 2009 Motoxplorers tour guides are working on the “Portugal Best Riding Roads” project. From north to south they rode thousands of miles cataloging the best routes and places to enjoy by motorcycle in Portugal. Portugal Premium Tour is the first result of this project, developed with our partners BMW Motorrad Portugal and Turismo de Portugal.
Lisboa
A poucos quilómetros a sul de Lisboa, o Parque Natural da Arrábida tem uma beleza incomparável, onde os variados tons de azul das águas límpidas deste mar, alternam com os tons esbranquiçados das falésias de calcário e com o verde do denso manto vegetal da Serra. Algumas das praias mais belas de Portugal estão situadas nesta baía.
Just a few kilometers from south of Lisbon, Arrábida Natural Park has incomparable natural beauty, where the various tones of blue of these clear waters alternates with the white tones of the chalk cliffs and the depths of the green vegetation Some of the one of the prettiest beaches in all of Portugal are found in this bay.
Alentejo A amplitude da paisagem é entrecortada por sobreiros ou oliveiras que resistem ao tempo. Aqui e ali erguem-se muralhas medievais, como o Marvão ou Monsaraz. Nos montes, casas térreas e brancas coroam pequenas elevações. Os castelos evocam lutas e conquistas, e os pátios e jardins atestam influências árabes, que moldaram povo e natureza. No Alentejo, a força da terra marca o tempo e cidades como Évora, classificada Património Mundial pela Unesco, mostram a tenacidade das gentes.
The vastness of the landscape is dotted with cork oaks and olive trees that withstand time. Here and there, you find a walled town, such as Marvão or Monsaraz. Around the hills, low, whitewashed houses stand on small knolls, castles evoke battles and conquests and the yards and gardens are witness to the Arab influences which shaped the people and nature. In the Alentejo the power of the land marks the time and cities like Évora, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, show the tenacity of the people.

Alentejo Wine Route Here, where the skyline extends as far as the eye can see, on which the cork oaks and old olive trees bestow a sense of strength and durability, vast vineyards, produce wines that take in the power of the landscape and the heat, and can be counted amongst the most celebrated in Portugal.
Serra da Estrela Com 1993 metros de altitude, a Torre da Serra da Estrela é o coração das terras altas de Portugal. Um lugar de rara beleza com penhascos agrestes e vales profundos onde podemos ter uma profunda experiência com as montanhas. Estradas incríveis transportam-nos pelo vale glaciar de Manteigas, pelo caminho rebanhos de cabras e ovelhas alimentam-se de ervas aromáticas silvestres produzindo o leite que serva para uma das iguarias nacionais, o queijo da Serra. Nas encostas deste Parque Natural, encontramos vilas históricas como Linhares da Beira e Belmonte, local onde em 1467 nasceu Pedro Alvares Cabral, “O descobridor do Brasil” At 1,993 meters at its highest point in Serra da Estrela is the hearth of Portugal highlands. A place of rare landscape beauty, with striking mountain drops, where you can have a deep nature experience. Breathtaking roads guide us to the glacier valley of Manteigas, home of the famous Serra da Estrela cheese. Along the way flocks of ewes thrive on a diet of wild herbs, scrub, gorse blossoms and brambles, producing this thick, luscious and aromatic cheese. On the edge of the Natural Park, we found ancient settlements and historical villages like Linhares da Beira and Belmonte, birthplace of Pedro Alvares Cabral "The discoverer os Brazil".
Douro Partindo das encostas profundas do Parque Natural do Douro Internacional, incríveis estradas sobem os penhascos monumentais salpicados de castanheiros, amendoeiras e oliveiras. O Rio Douro corre depois para um vale considerado Património Natural pela Unesco, onde encostas esculpidas à mão, formam terraços alinhados com vinhedos que produzem o famoso Vinho do Porto e outros vinhos de mesa premiados da região. Tradicionalmente, o vinho era transportado rio abaixo em barcos de fundo raso chamados Rabelos, para depois ser armazenado em barris nas adegas de Vila Nova de Gaia. Hoje estes mesmos barcos são usados para cruzeiros nesta paisagem maravilhosa. Departing from the steep banks of the deep valley of Douro Internacional Natural Park, amazing roads climb highly spectacular and monumental ravines, dotted with chestnut, almond and olive trees. The Douro river flows into this cultural landscape, listed as a World Heritage Site, surrounded by hills hand sculpted with terraces lined with grapevines that produce the famous Port Wine and the other table wines of the region. Traditionally, the wine was taken down river in flatbottom boats called Rabelos, to be stored in barrels in cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, now this boats are used to enjoy a relaxing river cruise.

Port Wine Route In the grandiose amphitheatre of the Douro Valley, classified World Heritage, man gave birth to Port wine and table wines of great quality. Port wine is the oldest ambassador for Portugal. Grown on the terraces of the Douro, it proudly belongs to one of the oldest demarcated regions of the world, created in 1756.
Porto O Porto é a capital do Norte que deu nome a Portugal e a um vinho conhecido nos quatro cantos do mundo: o Vinho do Porto. Com uma localização magnífica junto da foz do Douro e um conjunto arquitectónico de valor excepcional, o centro histórico do Porto é Património da Humanidade desde 1996. Guimarães é considerada a cidade berço de Portugal, aqui nasceu Afonso Henriques que viria a ser o primeiro rei de Portugal. O seu centro histórico considerado Património da Humanidade, preserva até hoje os traços medievais. A lindíssima vila de Óbidos, de casas brancas enfeitadas com buganvílias e madressilvas, é o local perfeito para descansar depois de uma visita ao feroz mar da Nazaré Porto is both the city that provided a nation with a name and a fortified wine known world-wide: port. With its splendid geographical location on the mouth of the river Douro and an architectural heritage of exceptional quality, the historic centre of Porto was declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1996. Guimarães is considered the birthplace of Portugal because Afonso Henriques, who went on to be the first king of Portugal, was born here. Also classified a World Heritage site, the historical centre within the Guimarães city walls still has a harmonious, wellpreserved heritage from medieval times. The delightful town of Óbidos, with white houses adorned with bougainvilleas and honeysuckle, it's a perfect place to rest after a visit to the Nazaré beach.
Sintra & Estoril No ponto mais ocidental do continente europeu, o Cabo da Roca é um dos locais mais emblemáticos do Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais. Rodeado pelo Monte da Lua, Sintra é um daqueles lugares cheios de magia e mistério onde a natureza e o Homem se conjugaram numa simbiose tão perfeita, que a UNESCO o classificou como Património da Humanidade. A baía de Cascais e Estoril foi escolhida pelo rei D. Luís I para construir a sua residência de verão. O clima ameno e as belas praias foram com certeza motivos fortes para as famílias europeias mais abastadas da época seguirem a casa real e aí terem as suas vivendas e palacetes. The westernmost point of the European continent the Cabo da Roca is one of the most spectacular locations in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Surrounded by the Moon Hill, Sintra is a place full of magic and mystery, where Nature and Man have combined in such a perfect symbiosis that UNESCO has granted it Word Heritage Site status. Cascais and Estoril became one of the most cosmopolitan and touristic places in Portugal ever since King Luís I chose the bay for his summer residence in the late 19th century. The mild climate and beautiful beaches were surely strong reasons for his choice and for the most affluent families of the time to follow the royal family and set up their villas and mansions there.
