NEW EVENING COURSE! FENCING
FLAG FOOTBALL
Available at Chippewa, Edgewood, Highview Are you ready for some football? The game of flag football is a fast-paced, non-contact game played between teams of seven players. Each player on the offense and defense wears a set of flags. “Tackles� are made by pulling the flag out of the belt. All physical contact is strictly monitored for the safety of the players.

QUIDDITCH
Available at Edgewood Quidditch is a co-ed contact sport with a unique mix of elements from rugby, dodge ball and tag. A quidditch team is made up of seven athletes who play while riding brooms at all times. The game may appear chaotic to the casual observer, once familiar with the basic rules, quidditch is an exciting sport to watch and even more exciting to play. GRADES 6-8

TRACK AND FIELD
Available at Chippewa, Edgewood, Highview Track and field is a coed sport which combines various athletic contests based on the skills of running, jumping and throwing. All students welcome.
At Island Lake Elementary School Join the fast-growing Olympic sport of fencing. Each Youth Enrichment League (YEL) fencing class follows four basic components: 1. Teach It! Hall of Fame Olympic fencing coach Ro Sobalvarro crafts the lessons and curriculum. 2. Practice It! Students pair up to practice a fencing move or concept, rotate partners and repeat. 3. Move It! Students then participate in fencing matches using only the moves taught so far. 4. Play It! Spend 10-15 minutes of each class fencing with multiple fencers at their skill level. All equipment is provided. GRADES 2-8 Spring Session: April 2-May 1 6:15-7:15 p.m. $89/student per session (includes in-class tournament)
TENNIS
Available at Chippewa Edgewood and Highview Participants will learn the correct technique for serving and will practice basic table tennis strokes including forehand drive, backhand drive, forehand push and backhand push. Fun competitions will challenge students to put their new skills to the test individually and in pairs.

Available to students in grades 4-8. All-day field trips are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drop-off & pick-up is at the Mounds View High School gymnasium. Space is limited. Please register early.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Saturday, August 10 at 9 a.m.
& WALK FOR YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS
Join Mounds View Public Schools families and friends for a Family Fun Run & Walk to benefit Community Education youth scholarships. The event will feature a 5K run/walk and a 1K kids run. Stay after the run for refreshments, vendors, prizes and more. All are welcome and strollers will be permitted. Participants will receive a T-shirt.
Registration Information Early Bird Registration before June 30, 2019: $20 Adults and Kids 14+ $5 for kids 13 and under . Registration after June 30, 2019: $25 per Adults and Kids 14+ $9 for Kids 13 and under Registration opens March 1, 2019

Additional Program Information: • Parents are invited and encouraged to come to competitions and support their children, school and the intramural program. • Practices and competitions are held immediately after school. Activity buses are available after practices for those eligible students. A competition schedule will be posted online at www.moundsviewschools.org/communityed. • All participants receive a free activities T-shirt (swimmers will receive a swim cap). • Transportation is provided to and from all competitions. (No competitions for table tennis, dance or swim session 1.) • Please note a $5 late charge will be added to any registrations received after activity has started.
Refunds: • Athletics refunds will not be issued after the first week of practice. • Clubs, classes and non-school-day field trip refunds will be granted up to seven days prior to the start date.

Mounds View Public Schools Community Education offers a variety of district activities for all middle school students. Activities are supervised and led by certified coaches, licensed teachers and/or knowledgeable staff who emphasize skill development, participation, teamwork, leadership, social growth, sportsmanship and respect for others. The key objectives of Community Education activities are to ensure all students in grades 6-8 are welcome and able to get involved and participate. No experience necessary. Students receive an equal opportunity for playing time during practices and competitions/meets/games.
