Get to Know ‘Em Meet Jeanne Hass
My name is Jeanne Hass and I am the Testing Coordinator. I grew up in Circle Pines and graduated from Centennial Senior High many years ago. My first career was working for a medical device manufacturer for 18 years right here in Arden Hills. I started in the documentation department and was promoted to production artist/graphic designer in the communications department. Shortly after we were married, my husband and I went on a relocation frenzy with his career. After our youngest son graduated, we moved back home to Minnesota, where I’m happily settling into my new position at Mounds View. My husband David and I are blessed to have raised three amazing sons. Our eldest was married in July and is a 3rd-year medical school student in Des Moines; our middle son graduated with a sport management degree and is currently spending his winter working in Arizona at a couple of stunning golf courses; and our youngest son is an active duty Marine where he is a Welding Instructor. We enjoy traveling around the country to visit them and we stay connected through a variety of social media outlets—Snapchat has its perks!
I love running, hiking, biking and kayaking; basically, anything active. I also enjoy trying new things and traveling. My role model is my mother; she always had a kind word, a big heart, and she never forgot anyone. She embodied the axiom “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it.” Working in a high school environment is a great place to work and connect with people of all ages; and I hope to leave a positive impact with both students and co-workers here at Mounds View High School.
My Name is Amy Morphew. I coordinate the Modified Learning Center (MLC). I love that I get to help kids recharge and refocus on getting the necessary credits they need to graduate and be successful!
Meet Amy Morphew
This is my first year working full time at Mounds View. I feel I have come full circle. I graduated from MVHS in the early 90’s. I also attended Pike Lake (The Mighty Panther’s!) and Chippewa for middle school. I worked for many years as a Children’s Ministry Director and for a counseling firm in the community. I also worked in the Roseville School District with special needs children, along with overseeing the bus patrol program. I currently live in Shoreview with my husband, Jim. This July we will celebrate 18 years of marriage. We have three children, Abby (16) Grace (12) and Aaron (10). We also have a Brussels’ Griffon named Levi. Our family is very passionate about softball and baseball. On most nice nights, you can find me at a ball park watching one of my kids play. My husband and I are also on the Mounds View Softball Association Board. Since being at Mounds View this year, I have been so impressed by the vast amount of opportunities we have to offer all the students. As a staff/parent I have participated in two Izzy events, helped chaperone many of the dances, and attended games/plays. I have participated more now as a staff than I ever did as a student. Some of my favorite things: Diet Coke NOT Pepsi and coffee NOT tea “This is Us” is my new favorite show I prefer to work in the dark Photography, traveling and volunteering Seafood, Chinese and Mexican food My children are my most prized possession One of my favorite quotes-one I hope all kids will hear and believe – “Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and twice as beautiful as you’ve ever imagined.” Dr. Seuss

Juniors
Now is the time to start researching colleges and other post-secondary plans. Naviance can be a great tool to help you find career pathways and/or colleges. A good goal for summer would be to come back to school with a start to your post-secondary plan. If you are looking to apply to college have 3-5 schools in mind when you return in the fall. Make sure one of them is a safety school, meaning you are confident you will be admitted. See your Dean, if you need help logging into Naviance.

Seniors
Many seniors are in the midst of discerning what’s next after graduation. To help with this process, see the “What’s Next?” list below for your use/reference. For those of you not yet in the midst of your senior year, the information below may be useful for planning purposes. For those of you planning to attend a college, university, building trades apprenticeship program, or other unique opportunity, finalize and submit the applications. • Some, but not all, application deadlines have passed, but many remain open. • For those of you who have submitted applications, use the college/university AppTracker systems to check the status of your applications. If you have not already done so, request your high school transcripts be sent to colleges/universities or other unique program opportunities. • Information about requesting transcripts and all required documentation is available in Student Services. Begin the Financial Aid Process. • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to begin this process. • To learn about Financial Aid, see these publications from the Minnesota Office of Higher Education o Financial Aid Basics o Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) & Mn Dream Act o Grants and Scholarships (Free Money) • Once colleges and universities receive your FAFSA data, they will create a Financial Aid Award Letter, or Pack age, that will arrive via email or standard mail. Review enrollment deadlines, housing deadlines, and any other upcoming deadlines. • Once you have made a decision, many colleges and universities require a downpayment with your enrollment confirmation. • If you plan to live on campus (in a dorm or residence hall, for example) submit housing forms and, likely, a downpayment.
FAFSA
The FAFSA remains open. Students and families can still complete the FAFSA in preparation for post-secondary enrollment in 2019-2020. Students and families hoping to access federal grants, state grants, and loans must complete the FAFSA. Students and families looking for the FAFSA can find it here: https://fafsa.ed.gov/. Resources, information, and help completing the FAFSA is available at Federal Student Aid, an Office of the U.S. Department of Education.
