Mounds View Adult Basic Education (ABE) offers programs for adults to improve their skills so they can move ahead in their jobs, prepare for further education and improve their daily lives. Mounds View will offer programs this summer, which will assist students in preparing to achieve their goals. Contact our office for registration and class information. Courses are free. All courses are offered at Silver View Education Center, 2574 County Hwy 10, Mounds View.

ACADEMIC COURSES ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) English as a Second Language Class (ESL) is a Mounds View program for adults seeking to improve their English language communication skills. Students work together in classroom settings. English classes focus on listening, speaking, reading and writing English. Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes will be offered in-person and online in July 2022 at Silver View Education Center in Mounds View. Registration is required to enroll. Location: Silver View Education Center Days

GED/HS DIPLOMA FOR ADULTS/COLLEGE PREPARATION For students working towards various goals, we offer three types of preparation programs. Our teachers will assist you in preparing for the four GED tests: Reading/Language arts, math, social studies and science. If you are an adult who needs fewer than 20 credits to graduate, you may participate in diploma classes and receive a high school diploma from Mounds View Public Schools. In addition, if you want to pursue higher education, you can also pre-test and prepare to pass the ACCUPLACER with our staff. All summer classes require registration at Silver View Education Center. CAREER PATHWAYS COURSES COMPTIA SECURITY+ Mounds View’s CompTia Security+ Certification program offers everything you need to get ready for the Security+ exam. Learn to install and configure systems to secure applications, networks and devices. Hands-on training will allow you to perform threat analysis and respond with appropriate mitigation techniques. The successful candidate will learn to operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws and regulations. We will help you operate with principles of confidentiality, integrity and availability. All of these skills are requested by employers. Classes require registration at Silver View Education Center. Location: Silver View Education Center Days

IT CAREER PATHWAYS OPEN LAB Mounds View Adult Education will offer an OPEN lab for July 2022. Whether you’re brand new to computers or studying for your Microsoft Office Specialist certification, our licensed Career Pathways teachers are here to help. Any registered Mounds View Adult Education student can stop by for help polishing a resume, crafting a cover letter, earning Northstar Digital Literacy certificates and much more! Location: Silver View Education Center Days

PEARSON TEST FACILITY Mounds View Public Schools Adult Education is an authorized Pearson Testing Facility. Appointments must be made through PearsonVUE.com. Hours for testing vary. Contact Silver View Education Center at 651-621-6520 for more information. Prices vary per test. Please see rate schedule on PearsonVue.com.

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA) Gain the skills and certification to work as a CNA (certified nursing assistant). This no-cost class* is offered afternoons at Silver View Education Center and at St. Paul College. Classes include 60 hours of mandatory classroom training and 16 hours of mandatory skills training. Upon completion of the class, you will complete clinical skills training and take the state test to become certified. Job placement assistance is available for students who successfully complete the program. Classes require registration at Silver View Education Center. Location: Silver View Education Center Price: FREE* Days

July 11-Dec. 2022 (Hours will change in the fall) *In exchange for your entire college program being paid for, students must commit to working as a CNA for a minimum of six (6) months following the completion of the program. PARAPROFESSIONAL TRAINING Gain the skills and certifications needed for this rewarding career. Mounds View’s ParaPro class will prepare you to pass the ParaPro exam (if needed), learn about the role of the paraprofessional in education (including special education, child development and more) and gain the job search skills and confidence necessary to find a rewarding career in a school setting.
