Station 1: A Matter of Crust

Save time with pre-made pizza dough, provide ready-made pizza shells or fill a basket with lightly pretoasted bagels in assorted flavors like onion, sesame and everything. To prevent raw pizza dough from sticking to your prep surface (we recommend a pizza peel, a rimless cookie sheet or the back of a rimmed cookie sheet), line the surface with parchment paper or sprinkle it with cornmeal.

Station 2: Get Sauced

Keep it simple with a jarred pizza or pesto sauce, or whip up a no-cook tomato sauce by mixing one 28-ounce can of plain crushed tomatoes with 2 teaspoons of red wine vinegar and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Season to taste with salt, pepper, garlic, basil and oregano. Puree the mixture in a food processor, or serve it chunky.

Station 3: Pile On the Cheese

Opt for shredded mozzarella, or present a variety of options like Gorgonzola, fontina, Tallegio, pepper Jack or a Mexican blend.

Station 4: Top It Off

Set out a few bowls of toppings like pepperoni and assorted chopped veggies, or ask party guests to each bring a topping to contribute to the pizza bar. Finish the line with ramekins or shakers of salt, pepper, herbs and parmesan cheese.

The Final Step: Bake It Delicious

Follow the cooking instructions provided on your packaged pizza dough. If no instructions are provided, cook at 450-500 degrees for 10-20 minutes on a fully preheated pizza stone or pre-heated inverted cookie pan, transferring the pizza to the hot cooking surface on parchment paper from the rimless cookie sheet or from the cornmealdusted pizza peel used to prepare it. Fully pre-heating the oven and cooking surface will help prevent the pizza dough from sticking. If you opt for pizza bagels or pre-cooked pizza shells, bake on a cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 6-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and beginning to brown.
