Faith Directory Living Word Church of God

“A Family Worship Center” Serving the local community, Living Word Church of God’s vision is to see a strong local church which will connect with, influence and impact the people of our region with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We see a church training up a people who are skillful in the Word of God and who will embrace who they are in Christ, reaching their fullest potential in Him and therefore connect with and make a difference in the lives of others. We see a church that connects with God and declares His Word as the only relevant and practical guide which, when followed, enhances marriages, family relationships, careers and every facet of life. We see a church connecting with each other and building a community of loving, forgiving and caring believers who share their lives with each other and

who are committed to serving God by serving others. Our mission is His mission as found in Matthew 28:18-20 — “Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, all power has been given unto me in the heaven and in earth. Go therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, low, I am with you always even to the end of the world. Amen!” Our core values are loving God and loving people. Matthew 22:3739 — “Jesus said unto them, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Our purpose is that we exist to make con-

nections. II Corinthians 5:20 says, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” The Living Word Church of God’s members feel great about providing ministry for a cross section of all ages. It welcomes guests each week and would be honored for you to come and check it out, whether you are just visiting our area, have relocated or have lived here for years and are looking for a church home. First Baptist Church At First Baptist Church of Buckhannon, on the corner of Florida St. and Hart Ave., we are everyday people growing in Jesus Christ, growing together as God’s family, and sharing His love in and beyond Upshur County. As a church, everything we want to do is in response to what Jesus has done. Every action that is accomplished is acknowledging what God has accomplished on our behalf. We want our neighbors to know and experience the love that Jesus showed us on the cross. We want to make the message of the gospel our motivation and the center of everything we do. We love because Christ first loved us (1 John 4:19)! We do this through our worship service on Sunday morning. We have Sunday School

for all ages at 9:30 a.m. with the Worship Service and Children’s Church at 10:45 a.m. We also have various small groups meeting throughout the week. Evening Bible Study meets Wednesday’s at 7:00 p.m. We seek to be a church that blesses and serves others. On the second Tuesday of the month, we have our Community Spaghetti Dinner, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m; the meal is delicious and free! During the spring and summer, we host bowling outreaches, pool parties, family movie outings, neighborhood picnics and bluegrass concerts. This fall season we enjoy passing out candy and hot cocoa to our neighbors as they Trick or Treat. As Thanksgiving and Christmas season approaches, we team with Operation Christmas Child for the Shoebox

Drive and reach our community through Adopt a Family. We love to fellowship together, laugh, serve, and enjoy one another. First Baptist Church of Buckhannon has been used by God in West Virginia and the Upshur County Community for 233 years. We also celebrate 154 years as a WV Baptist Convention as part of the American Baptist Church. We are thankful that God would involve us to further His kingdom purposes. We are a small church that seeks to make a huge difference in people’s lives for His glory! If you would like to learn more about the church, please contact Pastor Jay Teodoro at 304.472.4789 or visit our website at firstbaptistbuckhannon.net.

The Way of Holiness Church

The Way of Holiness Church (Isaiah 35:8) is a ministry ordained of God, under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the leadership of the Holy Ghost. The sole purpose of this ministry is the advancement of the body and kingdom of Jesus Christ in the earth. This will be accomplished through a five-fold ministry and church body working together in unity to this end. The goals and purposes of this church is to reach the lost with the message of salvation, provide a corporate worship atmosphere where believers can enjoy the presence of the Lord and the fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as to bring believers to maturity in Christ through the ministry of the Word, stressing a personal fellowship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. The church is achieving these goals through various ministries within the church. The men and women’s groups

are active through Bible Studies, monthly breakfast meetings, community outreaches and serving the families and members of our church. We invite you to join us Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall for a meal, followed by Bible classes for all beginning at 7 p.m. The College Ministry’s vision is to reach the college students and young adults of our community, share the Gospel and God’s love, encourage individuals in their personal relationships with God, and equip them to do God’s work in their schools, jobs, and communities. Our Youth Group is open to all middle school and high school age young people! The goal of our youth leadership staff is to foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person, empowering them to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. We meet Sunday evenings at

6 p.m. in the youth sanctuary for teaching, music, activities and games. Children’s Ministry is led by a team of teachers serving nursery age to sixth grade. The children are separated into age related groups for teaching, music, and fun activities. We emphasize foundational Biblical truth and knowing Jesus Christ personally. Some of the extra activities offered throughout the year are: Valentine Party, Easter Outreach, movie nights, Mother/ Father’s Day Programs, Vacation Bible School, Back to School Event, Fall Festival and a yearly Christmas Program. We invite you to join us as we seek the face of God, enjoy His presence and embrace the fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ as we strive to continue in the way of holiness. “And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness.” Isaiah 35:8
