SJMH welcomes SJMH employee new orthopedic of the month surgeon

Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, in Weston, is pleased to announce the addition of Robert Erdin, III, M.D., to the staff of physicians. The orthopedic surgeon will be practicing at Weston Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center, located at 29 Hospital Plaza in Weston. Dr. Erdin received his undergraduate degree from Duke University with a double major in chemistry and economics. His medical degree is from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA. His residency and fellowship are from the University of Tennessee Campbell Clinic of Memphis. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

When asked about why he chose orthopedics as his specialty his answer was simple…”I enjoy identifying a problem and fixing it.” His parents, Robert and Mary Kay Erdin, live in High Point, NC. He comes from a family of physicians. His father is a retired cardiologist. His mother’s father was a general practitioner in Pennsylvania. His wife, Jennifer Stone Erdin, is a retired pediatrician. The couple has two children – Alex, 16, and Chase, 14. He is looking forward to starting here and meeting new patients. In his spare time he likes to water ski and play the guitar.

Cardiac Rehabilitation’s Susan Carpenter has been selected as Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for June 2019. She began employment at the Hospital in 1999 in the Physical Therapy Department. She and her husband, Kevin, live on Sauls Run Road with their canine companions - two Jack Russells named Butchie and Scrappy, and Si, the Rottweiler. Susan has one daughter, Melissa Leavitt, ofWeston, who is a private home health caregiver. Susan is originally from Ohio, the daughter of Ethel and the late John Snyder, of Wooster. Her father was originally from Weston and Susan came to this area because of the family connection. Susan’s nominator wrote: “Susan is a hard worker who provides excellent care to every patient, every time. She is kind,

It was a nice surprise and I am grateful. I have always believed that the people you work with are what make the job worthwhile. I have co-workers here who make each day a new adventure. It is nice to come to work each day. I feel so fortunate to have a job that I thoroughly enjoy.” In her spare time she enjoys nature and being outdoors.
