"Let's run to school so we can read the school newspaper before class starts, " suggested a boy called Tim. Five minutes later Tim and his sisters, Jess and Lola reached
the school gates. They walked into school and asked the school canteen lady for the newspaper. She gave it to

them and shouted next!
"Look, " Lola pointed at an article in the
newspaper with a picture of a man. The article was called 589110.
"It says that this man
wearing prisoner clothes, black pants and a white t-shirt with a green patch his shoulder and one on his
on
front, has been arrested for kidnapping children and he has broken out of jail. He has been spotted at SilverWaters, " Lola read out.
"Silver-Waters. That's not far from here, " Jess observed.
"Do you think he will come and get us?" Lola

asked, her eyes wide. "Of course not. Why would he want us?" Joy,
- Lola's best friend
comforted coming over to them and standing next to Tim and Lola.
They moved away a bit from the canteen .
because lots of people .
.
were arriving.
^^^
"I don't know, " Lola
mumbled. "Probably not. "
The bell rang and they started walking to their class. Lola sat down with Joy, Jess with her best friend Mary and Tim with his best friend MatL.
"Where is Mrs Hippobottom - I mean Mrs Hugebottom?" asked Lola.
Mrs Hugebottom walked into the room, hand in hand with a man with a scar on his arm and cheek.
"Hello. Today and tomorrow I need to go and help another school, so you have this very cute, sweet honey pie, Mr
Bottebeton, " Mrs Hugebottom announced, patting Mr Bottebeton's cheek.
"Hello Mr Bottebeton, " the class chorused. "Hello class, " mumbled Mr Bottebeton.
"I am going to go so Mr Bottebeton will take over now, " Mrs Hugebottom told them and she walked out of the classroom aft another pat on Mr Bottebeton's cheek "Hello everyone, open your books, " Mr Bottebeton mumbled.

"Hey, Mr Bottebeton, what are we doing now?" Tim asked.
"Well let's all do a project on robbery, Do any of you know the three tips on stealing?" Mr Bottebeton asked. The class looked at each other.
"What! Robbery? Why would he want to teach LIS how to steal?" Jess thought.
"Hey, is that because of the newspaper this morning?" Mary asked.
"No, it's not. It's kidnapping in the newspaper not robbery, " Tim corrected,
Mary blushed. She had a huge crush on Tim.
"Yeah, but have you read the newspaper, Mr Bottebeton. We thonght he might want to kidnap us, " less declared sticking LIP for Mary.
Mr Bottebeton looked surprised. "Oh don't worry. Why would he want to kidnap you? And no sorry, but I haven't read the newspaper, " he b111rted quickly. Lola and Jess looked at each other, something weird was going on for sure !
Chapter 2
Tim, Lola and Jess were walking to their auntie and uncle's house, where they lived. "Don't you think Mr Bottebeton is so
weird?" Tim asked. A

"Yes, I have a bad feeling about him, " Lola replied as she knocked on their auntie and uncle's front door.
"Hello, it's so nice to see you! Come in, I have made some biscuits for
you all, " Auntie Pony said kindly. ^,^^
Late that night Tim, Jess, Lola, Auntie Pony and Uncle Josh were all fast asleep, till Lola woke up to the sound of taping. Tap. Tap. Tap
Lola got up quickly and woke up Jess. "I hear something, " Lola said. Jess sat up sleepily.
"Yes! I hear it too. We need to wake Tim up, before it's too late! ' Jess said fearfully.
"Should we wake up Auntie Pony and Uncle Josh?" Lola suggested.
"No, it won't be nothing we can't handle!" Jess answered. "It's probably a tap dripping. " They walked towards Tim's bedroom. When they walked in
Tim's bedroom, he was sitting on his bed. "It's louder now, " he said calmly. "Yes, " Lola and Jess agreed.
"I think it's the outside tap, " Tim said. "Let's go turn it off. "
They left Tim's room and started walking outside. Lola was very scared, and stayed between Jess and Tim, who was shining his torch.
"Hello kids, " purred a inari that looked a cross between Mr Bottebeton and Mr Deadly. He grabbed Tim.
"NO! Let go of him, you EVIL BEAST!" yelled Jess rushing over to Tim. Mr Deadly grabbed her and held her as well. Two assistants jumped out of the bushes and rushed over to Mr Deadly's side.
The big man with the hairy chest and heavy belt and a plait in his hair, grabbed Lola.

^ ^
The other, a small inari the height of Tim with pants too small for him and a black jacket took Jess from Mr Deadly. "Good job Mr Deadly, sir, " the inari with the plait said. "Who. .. ," Tim started to say but Mr Deadly slapped his hand over his mouth.
"How many times have I told you not use my real name! MY NAME Is
DICK! You are so forgetful Buggsworth, " Mr Deadly growled angrily, he gasped then because he realised he had used Buggsworth's name.
"Use Bill, boss, " Buggsworth said annoyed. "Well at least they don't know Mr Beetle's name " sighed Mr Deadly. Mr Beetle looked cross and angry. Jess took this opportunity to kick Mr Beetle. "O !
That hurt, you stupid girl!" Mr Beetle gasped letting go of Jess. "CATCH HER!" Mr Deadly yelled.
"RUN JESS! " Lola yelled before Buggsworth could put his hand over her mouth.
But Jess was caught and and brought back.
"Try to concentrate harder. That could have been our freedom gone!" Mr Deadly warned. "Sorry boss, " Mr Beetle apologised. "Get them into the car, " Mr Deadly ordered.
As Buggsworth pushed Lola into the car, his phone fell out of his pocket. Only Tim saw. Tim reached his foot over and pressed the button to call 000 for the police, Suddenly Mr Deadly looked over. Tim froze.
"Hello Constable Jake here, " a cheerful voice said coming out of the phone.
"What are you doing?" Mr Deadly said running over to Tim and the phone.

"HELP! " Tim shouted. COME To 54 FOSTER STREET, BLACKSVILLE. "
Chapter 3
"STOP! " Mr Deadly bellowed picking up the phone and ending the call. "GET IN THE CAR, QUICK! WE DON'T HAVE LONG. "
But what the baddies didn't know that there was a police station just around the corner.
Just then a police car turned around the corner and came whizzing down the street, its lights flashing red and blue. Already the baddies car was going the other way doom the street. "Oh no, ' Jess thought. 'They will

done anything! " Tim insisted. "Yeah, " Loin said somewhat nervous. "Haven't done anything!" Mr Deadly roared, then started to
laugh. "That's the whole point. We kidnap people for fun. " "That's not nice, " Jess mumbled angrily.
"What's wrong with you people? IT'S THE WHOLE DARN P 01NT. "
Jess tried to kick Mr Beetle again but Mr Beetle had learned his lesson. He jumped out of the way still holding on to Jess.
Buggsworth pulled a key out of his pocket and opened the door. "Hurry up kid, " Buggsworth barked at Jess. "Yes sir, " Jess whimpered looking down.
"We are going to put you in the Hat Tower guest room. The Hat Tower is the highest tower, " Mr Deadly snarled. "You will each be in separate rooms so you can't do any of your tricks. " They walked up the stairs for what seemed like ages. At last they arrived at the first room. It had a bed, but no pillow. There

was a light and a window with bars, just like a jail cell. You couldn't see through the window because it was slimy and dusty. Buggswort}I pushed Jess into the room. "That's your room. " Then he closed and locked the door.
Bt:Iggsworth, Mr Beetle and Mr Deadly took Tin^ and Lola up to their rooms then they had a meeting in the dungeons.
"The ship leaves to take them in three days, " Mr Beetle announced.
"It's to America tight?" Mr Deadly asked. "Yep. " "Then we can be rich at last!" Buggsworth said dreamily.
"You too will only get one million each. I will get the rest, of course, " Mr Deadly said. "And you need to train then sell the brats as slaves and get more money. " "Yes boss, " Mr Beetle replied.
"Start training them right now! " roared Mr Deadly.
Chapter 4 Lola was scared and bored all alone in her room. She was scared
of monsters coming and killing her. She was hiding under her bed when she heard footsteps.
The door got unlocked and it opened with Mr Beetle standing the re.
"Come out of your hiding right now! You have to train up! " he laughed. 1.01a came out from under the bed, shaking. "Yes sir, " Lola said. Mr Beetle grabbed her arm then pulled her away. "You're going to be trained up to become a maid. That means you have to learn to do the washing up and to wash the clothes. You have to not be noticed and not speak unless spoken to. Of course there are lots of other stuff to do, but you will just be a
stupid maid, " Mr Beetle declared gleefulIy.
He dragged Lola down into the kitchen only to find Jess and Buggsworth there. "I told you not to bring her! She's the vicious one, " Mr Beetle complained, remembering when Jess kicked him. "I would have
gotten her. You need only get that stupid police - calling boy! " Mr Beetle opened the bathroom door. Lola blinked in surprise as Tim ran out. Mr Beetle grabbed Tim in his free hand. "What are you doing here?" he roared, then stopped as the bathroom looked very different.
Mr Deadly walked out of the "bathroom. " "What are you doing?" Mr Deadly yelled. "I am trying to train this stupid boy as a sword-fighter. That requires concentration and I cannot concentrate when you are
barging in here. He must be good so can get loads of money and be rich! " "But where is the bathroom? I badly
need to go for number two. I've holding on for too long!" Mr Beetle whined. "Go do it in the garden!" Mr Deadly demanded crossly. "Come along Tim. "
"He really doesn't have any feelings, does he? And when did we have a garden?" Mr Beetle muttered crossly to himself. He walked out of the room with his arms folded.
Mr Beetle walked into a room with Lola, Jess and Buggsworth having an argument. "We will never train as servants, you horrible man. Even if we
did, we wouldn't give you the money, " Lola shouted struggling hard.
Buggsworth went to slap Lola but Mr Beetle stopped his hand. "Mr Beetle, they will do as we say!" Buggsworth barked.
"You're so smart Buggy, " Mr Beetle said sarcastically. "Don't call me Buggy, " Buggsworth replied crossly, "Beetleface. "
"Call me Mr Beetle or I will slap your wife, " Mr Beetle threatened.
"I don't have a wife, Mr Beetle, " Buggsworth responded. "I have an ex-wife thongh. " "Well, I will slap her! "
"Stop fighting! " Jess yelled above the noise. "I don't want to know about your idiot wives ! "
Buggsworth and Mr Beetle stared dumbstruck. "You and your wives are not interesting so shut up about it! I
don't want to hear another thing about it, " Jess yelled. "Hey, missy, " Mr Beetle snapped. "You donlt talk to me like that! I am now yoLIT boss so you shut LIP! "
Chapter 5
It was night and Tim, Jess and Lola were in their prison rooms, all by themselves. Lola was curled up in her bed when Mr
Beetle's hand appeared; pushing a plate of mushy potato, hard boiled egg and a glass of water. "Eat it or have no food, " commanded Mr

Lola smelled the food before eating it, in
case Mr Deadly had got the cook to sprinkle poison on it.
She hoped the others smelled their food too. If they have allyjood, Lola thought as she pushed it away. 00^
Lola dreamt that Tim and Jess didn't want her dragging behind them anymore. And that Mr Deadly set them free. "Why can't I go too?" Lola whined, tears running down her cheeks.
"We don't want you come, Lola. You're atwilys dragging behind us, " Tim and Jess answered angrily.
"We don't want you either! But we'll be nice and let you ROT!" laughed Mr Deadly evilly. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Lola cried. ^^,^
Mr Deadly groaned and clutched his stomach. "I need the basin, doc, " gasped Mr Deadly. The doctor gave a bucket to Mr Deadly. "OK, I am fine now doc, " Mr Deadly declared. He was still a bit pale, but he was looking a bit better.
"OK, " the doctor said handing a document to Mr Deadly.

"Mr Deadly has got clothes for you so be grateful and remember to say 'Thank you Mr Deadly, "' Mr Beetle said. "Yeah, if you let us go pea-brain, " Jess yelled.
"Oh yeh, tomorrow you will be sent to America. Both of you will be servants and your boyfriend ...," Mr Beetle said.

"That isn't letting us go! '' Lola said crying. "That will be giving us away to some mean person.
"We are staying in Australia! I'm not going to America, " Jess shouted.
"Keep back girl. My dear friends wouldn't care if we gave you to him a day early, " Mr Deadly threatened. Jess and Lola stepped back automatically. "Uhh. .. well. We're quite happy here really, " Lola said.
After they had done fifteen of the jobs, Mr Deadly came into the room they were working in.
"Are you done yeti" he snarled. "No, " Jess answered crossly.
"We have done fifteen jobs, " ILOla informed him nervously. "Well, " Mr Deadly started. "I will give you a punishment. SOMEONE GET TIM! "

"Here's your jobs, " Buggsworth said, shooting a sly grin at them then dropped a huge piece of paper at their feet then walked out of the room. "If you are not done by the end of the day, you'll be off to Airierica today, " he added. "Done what?"Lola asked.
"I don't know, " Jess answered. She picked up
the piece of paper then dropped it in disgust. "It's a list of jobs. Fifty jobs, " she said bitterly. "I'm not
doing it! " .^::^., *W'~~
"Yes we are, or we won't have time to escape, " Lola reasoned.
"Ohh, look at the uniforms! I hope we
escape before we have to wear them, " Jess answered. "Jess. What's that on my skirt?" Lola asked
uncertainly
"I. .. don't know. It looks like blood. Hey, Its on my shoulder too.
"Hey, I think these are second hand, ' Lola said. "Urn. .. yeh, I wonder why they had so much blood, " Jess said. "Anyway, let's get started on the jobs to take our minds off things. ' But that didn't keep their minds off things.
Lola picked up the bandaid and ran to the room with Tim and Jess were in.
"I got it! " Lola cried and she handed the bandaid to Jess. Jess poured some water from a glass nearby onto Tim's cut. Tim screamed in pain and Jess placed the bandaid on his cut. Little by little Tim's face got less and less green. Lola and Jess sighed with relief, and Tim relaxed a little. . . ^. ,

on your 'boyfriend' again. " "NO! " Lola and Jess shouted at the same time.
Mr Beetle chuckled. 'The boss does what is right. Now shut
your pie hole and get on with those jobs. .. or else!" "Yes, sir, " Lola said. She picked up the list of jobs and scurried away.
Jess and Tim followed after, Jess helping Tim because he was still a bit weak.
"That was close, " Jess said breathing fast. "Good job Lola, " Tim nodded. "Our next job is to clean the roof, " Lola said.
"That is dangerous. " Jess said. "He wouldn't expect us to do that. "
"He expects us to do everything. " Tim said. "We should do it. I don't want us to get a knife through our cheek. ' "Alright, lets do it, " Jess agreed. Five minutes later they reached Tim's room. "The trapdoor to the roof was standing in the middle of the roof in Tim's bedroom. Usually it was locked so he wouldn't escape, today it was but the key was on the ladder leading up to the trapdoor. Buggsworth and Mr Beetle were guarding at the bottom of the
building, waiting for if they were going to escape. Lola, Jess and Tim clambered out of the room and
through the trapdoor. There were three
brooms on the roof. Lola picked them up and handed them out. "Oh this is stupid. What does it matter if we clean the roof or
not? Why would they want us to do it?" Jess complained taking her broom.
Lola walked over to the edge of the roof and started sweeping. Then she looked doom. Of course Buggsworth and Mr Beetle were there, but, there was a river stretching out behind them. Lola smiled. A plan of how to escape jumped into her head. "Jess! Tim! " Lola called hurrying over to them, almost falling over in the hurry. "Be careful '' Jess called. "What is it?"
"I think I know how to escape! Lola cried. "What! Really! ?" Jess and Tim asked at the exact same time. "How?',
"Well, see that boat there, " 101a said, pointing over the roof.
"Tomorrow morning we come up here with a rope and tie it to
ourselves and climb down. We get in the boat and go down the river. The river should end near home. "
"Yes!" Tim exclaimed. 'What a great idea. Good job Lola. " But Jess wasn't so sure. "But they lock the trapdoor. '
,
"Yes, but I saw Buggswort}} putting the key away in the spare cupboard just domm the corridor from my room, " Lola annoticed. "He also doesn't lock the front door. "
"Their jobs went quickly after that and soon they had finished. "Early bedtime, " Buggsworth commanded.
"Alright, " Tim answered and he, Jess and Lola started walking to their room with Buggsworth following behind. He had already locked the trapdoor. ^^^
Buggsworth shut the door for all of them. Tim lay quietly in his hard bed. They had made a plan to wait for. half an hour before they came o11t of their rooms. Tim's cheek was starting to hurt again. Tim PIit his finger in his
glass of water and dabbed it under the bandaid.
Chapter 8 Half an hour later, Jess
opened her door and peered out. Down the corridor she
saw Tim peer out and a bit further doam, Lola. Lola made a run for the
cupboard and turned the handle. It did not open. She looked at Tim and Jess in
horror and tried again. Jess
ran over to help her open the cupboard.
This time it opened.
"Oh, phew, " 101a sighed. "I mustn't have been strong enough. "
Jess got the rope and key out of the cupboard then they all disappeared into Tim's room.
Jess bought the ladder over without making a sound and Tim
put the key in the lock.
Jess climbed up first with Tim following and then Lola. "Who should go first?" Jess asked. "I think Lola because she's youngest, " answered Tim. "Sure?" Jess asked.
"Positive, " Tim assured, helping Lola into the loop of rope he had just made.
''Tjm, Jess, " Lola said fighting against the rope. "I don't want to do this. I'm too scared. "
"Don't worry, Lola. Nothing will happen, " Tim reassured her. "It's our only way of escape. Please do it. " "Oh, alright. Jess, come over here and hold onto this rope. I will hold it too. "
"Alright, Lola. You can jump now. " Lola looked very nervous. She took little steps towards the edge of the roof.
She took a deep breath and jumped. She fell five metres in the air then hang there. Tim and Jess released more rope and soon both of Lola's feet had touched the ground. Lola breathed a sigh of relief and undid the knot around her. But nobody had notice that the rope had frayed a bit under Lola's weight. Tim hauled the rope back up and Jess put it

stopped in the middle as Lola and Jess did but then he fell.
Down, doom, down. And he landed on the
hard ground. Tim screamed. Jess "shushed" him and Lola
grabbed the First Aid Box she had found in the kitchen.
She hurried over and chucked it at Jess.
Jess pulled out some stuff out and handed over.
Lola looked back at Eagles' Head and saw the light go on in one of the rooms.
"Quick Jess! " 1.01a cried turning back around. "Hurry. I'll get the boat ready. "
Lola ran over to the boat and was surprised to see $20 already in the boat.
nila jumped in the boat and started paddling towards where Tim and Jess were.
She landed and pulled the boat up on land. Together Jess and Lola pulled Tim into the boat. Jess had found out it was a broken foot.
The front of the castle opened and Mr Deadly, Buggsworth and Mr Beetle ran out.
"Quick, in the boat, " Lola yelled. Jess jumped into the boat and they pushed off.
Mr Deadly, Buggsworth and Mr Beetle tried to pull the boat back back they were to far out. "We are off!" Lola cried.
"We should be home soon, " Jess said happily. But she was very wrong. ..
