All of our bulk herbs, spices, seasonings, and seaweeds are packaged in gusset, poly-woven, or polypropylene bags. Teas are packaged in poly-lined kraft bags. Please let us know if you have specific packaging needs. Bulk orders over 5 pounds in weight are packaged at our discretion. If you request your order be packaged into smaller units, a surcharge of 50 cents per additional unit will be added onto your order.

The entire line of herbs, spices, teas and food grade vegetable oils offered by Mountain Rose Herbs are Kosher Certified by OQK Kosher Services. Quarterly auditing services are performed and involve the inspection of our facilities, processing and handling methods, product packaging, and the point of origin for our Kosher materials. Mountain Rose Herbs is a certified organic processor through Oregon Tilth Certified Organic which is fully accredited with the USDA National Organic Program. We currently offer one of the largest selections of certified organic herbs, spices and botanicals. Organics are always our first choice, and we never stock non organic material if a certified organic choice is available. We do not stock any conventionally grown herbs.

Bulk Carrier & Vegetable Oils Unrefined - Mechanical extraction and screen filtering where no additional refining process has taken place. This is the finest quality product and is the most exquisite for food and cosmetic preparation. The unrefined process helps retain a rich, strong flavor and color that is true to its natural state. Unrefined oils are always darker in color and richer in scent.

Cold Pressed - Heat is minimized and temperatures are controlled so that they do not exceed 90° Fahrenheit. This helps the oil maintain its original state and constituents. Not practical for all oils but highly regarded as the best extraction method.

Expeller Pressed - A small amount of heat is produced through the frictional heat created by hydraulic presses, usually around 120-200°. These oils have a fairly undisturbed molecular state and are good choices for cosmetic and food use.

Refined - A fully processed oil which has been exposed to all methods of refinement including flash fluctuations in temperatures from 450° to -30°, deodorization, and bleaching. These economical oils are suitable for cosmetics, but are not the best for food use.

Partially Refined - A process where only some of the methods available are used to produce a manufactured oil. Primarily used for oils which have been known to go rancid quickly, to further stabilize an oil, or to remove heavy odor and/or deep color.

Methods of Cultivation

Certified Organic - Grown, harvested and processed without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, GMO’s, synthetic

chemicals, or growth agents, and free from irradiation and chemical sterilization. All certified organic materials are certified though Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO), a USDA accredited third party certification agency. Organic Certificates available upon request. Wildharvested - Items gathered from their natural environment, such as woodlands, prairies, deserts etc. Wildharvesters who contract with Mountain Rose Herbs must sign a preliminary “Wild Take Audit” to insure that materials are sustainably gathered with a no more than 10% taken, and that the plants are re-seeded or roots are left to re-stock native populations. Cultivated w/o Chemicals - Grown without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, GMO’s, synthetic chemicals, and free from irradiation and chemical sterilization. Unlike materials that are certified organic, the growers of these materials have not had their operations certified through a third party certification agency, but they have rejected the use of the aforementioned growing methods. All items listed as “Cultivated Without Chemicals” have been tested free from pesticide, organophasphate, and carbamate residues in our laboratory. (Certificates available upon request) Fair Trade Certified - Certified through TransFair USA as a licensed distributor, handler & supporter of Fair Trade Certified teas and medicinal herbs. Endangered - Only a limited supply of these wildharvested plants is available each season. These are at risk/threatened wild medicinal plants, and we limit the order quantity on these plants. Please use consciously and/or find an alternative. Mountain Rose Herbs intentionally limits its procurement of these plants each year; when our stock runs out we will list these plants as ‘long term out of stock’. Once listed as a long term out of stock, it will not be available until the following harvest season. Biodynamic - Certified Biodynamic® by the Demeter Association, Inc. Biodynamic agriculture is an ecological and sustainable farming system predating the organic movement.

Out of Stock Items & Back Orders -

Occasionally we run short of an item due to seasonal availability, surges of popularity, quality control, and even international politics. While we apologize for the inconvenience, we ask you to re-order at a later date (usually 2-3 weeks). If an item just went out of stock after we processed your order we may “backorder” it. If you request, we will cancel your backorder and give you a prompt refund, or store credit. All regular in-stock herbs, spices and teas count toward bulk quantity discounts. Mountain Rose Herbs is a certified organic processor, certified organic through Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) and are fully accredited with the USDA NOP. All of our bulk organic herbs and spices have been grown, processed and handled according to strict organic handling methods. Kosher Certification -

Product Pricing, Origin, and Specifics -

Prices in this catalog supercede all previous catalogs. Although we strive to maintain prices, they may be subject to change, as are the countries of origin, and other product specifics. Weather, harvesting methods, timing, geography, etc. may affect the cut, color, aroma, and availability of herbs.

Packaging and Labeling -

All of our bulk bulk herbs and spices are packaged in clear single gusset, poly-woven or polypropylene bags for accurate identification, and are affixed with standard trade labels which include product names, weights, clear organic and kosher certification marks, botanical identity, “packaged on” dates, and appropriate warnings as recommended by AHPA. If you need additional labels for your bins or other materials, please inform customer service to have these included with your order.

Bagging Policy -

Bulk orders over 5 pounds in weight are packaged at our discretion. If you need your orders packaged into smaller or individual units, a surcharge of 50 cents per additional unit will be added onto your order.

Samples -

Free samples are available for all business accounts who have set up a terms account. Samples cost $5.00 each plus shipping and handling charges for those who do not have a terms account.

Hassle Free Return Policy -

If you are not satisfied with the products you received, return the unused product in the original packaging within 60 days of purchase for a refund, exchange, or store credit. We do not re-sell any returned product that has been opened, and ask that you first purchase items in small sizes if you wish to sample or test them. Upon receipt of your order, please check it carefully, if there are ANY problems contact us immediately. Infestation Policy -

All natural materials can be subject to insect infestation. MRH implements strict control methods to guarantee that every botanical item shipped from our warehouse is completely free of live insects and parasitic activity. While we take arduous steps in guaranteeing the cleanliness of our herbs & spices, it does not mean they will stay pest free during the tenure of your ownership. Observe good storage guidelines, and if minor insect infestation is found, freeze immediately at a temperature of 10-30° F. We will replace or offer a refund for items which are found to contain pests within 60 days of purchase, if the material has been stored correctly. Any items infested after this time will become the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Refunds are for merchandise amount only, not for any additional expenses.
